SUNDAY:   Church was good today.  Marlene, Betty and Jan did not come.  Before the service started, Peggy told me that she wanted to talk to me after church.   However, I waited ten or fifteen minutes and looked around and could not find her, so I left.  When I got home, I called her and she said that David had suddenly become sick and he called her and asked here to come home, which explains why she was nowhere to be found. She said she would have to cancel our New Years Eve plans which were for me to go to their house for lobster and scallops  (this has become somewhat of a New Years Eve tradition).  I thought about attempting to set something up with a friend, perhaps coming here to play games, but Lori and Jan are sick, Marlene most likely still has company, Betty does not like to play games and Elaine is recovering from her knee replacement.  So, I decided to just stay home and relax and watch a couple of movies in the evening...

Sunday the 24th:   I slept pretty good last night, but woke up with a small headache.  It was too late to go to the service at FREEDOM NORTH, so I decided to change my plans and go visit Carrie in the morning rather than in the afternoon.  We had a nice visit and I gave her four presents.  She really liked the small round red pillow with an emogi on it, but was not very interested in here other gifts.  On the way home after leaving the Hoover Road house, I stopped and called Peggy.  I told her I would be going right by the TOPS in Sanborn and asked if she needed anything for tomorrow (Christmas Day).  David said he needed some SAGE, so I agreed to stop and get it and deliver it to them.  The TOPS store was very busy!   I got the sage and a package of Entenmanns Italian Wedding Cake cookies and dropped both of them off to them.   I spent the rest of the day at home.   I frosted the rest of the Christmas cuto...

Sunday, December 17th:  Before going to church, I put split pea soup in the crockpot. I got to church early enough to take a couple of pictures of the displays in front of the church.   Church was great and the event  was moved inside due to the fact that it was raining outside.  So, right after church, the congregation was dismissed to go to the smaller sanctuary where young men were setting up tables.  Chowder and hot chocolate was free, as well as cookies many of which were made by members of the congregation.  There was a competition for the best cookie and Patricia______________                  won with her ORANGE CARDAMON cookies.  I took this picture of her.  After church, I came home.   I added ham to the crockpot with my soup and took a nap.  I watched a bit of  the Buffalo Bills game TV, for no reason at all........................At the last minute I decided to...

SUNDAY December 10th through SATURDAY December 16th

SUNDAY the 10th:  Church was very good.  After church, Lori, Jan, Peggy and I met up in the lobby and then the four of us went to Wendy's for a quick lunch. Peggy drove my car.  When we were finished there we headed to Newfane to the Van Horn Mansion for their event: CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE at the VAN HORN MANSION.  For Lori, Jan and me, it was our first time there, but Peggy had been there before.  We were each given a bag to carry through the mansion and collect items.   Each room offered an activity such as playing an old fashioned game, making a Christmas card or helping to put a puzzle helping to put a puzzle together.  Jan enjoyed this activity, but I moved on as soon as I had found one piece that worked. They offered refreshments which were VERY good, as well as three hot drinks.  It was a little difficult to take pictures that show the beauty of this mansion because of so many people there, but I was able to get some:  ...
