SUNDAY:  Church was very good, Marcus McFolling spoke.  He was not as good as he was the last time because he was talking too fast.  Several people went forward to the end.  Glenda, Lori, Andrea and I decided to go to THE BIG DITCH, a newish restaurant in the building that originally held the United States Post Office when I was a kid.  I don't know what year the post office moved to its new location down the street.  Anyways, we were very impressed with the ambiance of the place (it is huge, simple and elegant).  There was music playing but it was not too loud, which was a big benefit.  I had a turkey wrap which came with hand cut tries.  A couple of the others ordered burgers which were huge and they said they were very good.  Our server was very good.  Lori asked again if I wanted to go hear the Buffalo Philharmonic but I was just not in the mood.  I spent the rest of the day at home, taking a nap, working on my...

why I am not convinced that Israel is committing genocide against the people of Gaza (for Christa) even tho Amnesty International and other organizations claim it

What is the definition of genocide?  Isn't it the deliberate plan to wipe out a certain group of people? We have discussed all of this before.  basically, Israel is against Hamas, not the Gazan people. If Isreal were against or trying to destroy the Gazans, they would not have warned Gazans (by using texts, etc. and the dropping of leaflets) if they were against the civilians.  Nor would they have facilitated corridors for the Gazans to use to distance themselves from the military activity.   Except for a short time when attempting to pressure Hamas to facilitate a ceasefire, Israel has sent consistently sent food and other aid items into the Gaza strip.   BASICALLY Israel has responded to a genocidal attack on them.  Hamas has stolen much of the aid. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMVzdWUMP1b/ Thfake pictures of kids in Gaza, one was of a kid who was born with horrible birth defects. The only starving adult in that area that I have seen a pi...

Remainder of the week after TRIP (Tuesday July 22 through Saturday July 26th, 2025)

TUESDAY:   I went to the Bible Study this morning, and it was very good.  Andrea came for the first time.  We had a good sized group.  After the meeting, six of us went to APPPLEBEE'S for lunch.  Me, Glenda, Amy (Robin's sister), Andrea, Karen and Cindi.  I tried something new:    NEW Chicken Parmesan Fettuccine:   Crispy chicken breast with marinara sauce and Parmesan on fettuccine with Parmesan cream sauce,   The chicken was not really crispy but it was moist and tasty.  I brought some fettuccine and chicken home with me.  I called Peggy before leaving the restaurant because she wanted me to help her with taking metal to the place on West Avenue.  I backed the car in and she arrived a few minutes later.  I helped her load the stuff into the back of my car and we took it over.  I helped her throw the stuff onto the pile.  She made a little less than seven dollars.  I took a nap shortly ...

ESSAY about FREE SPEECH after visiting the Chautauqua Institution

ABC was created four years ago out of frustration at the overwhelmingly liberal bias of invited speakers. A little over a week ago, Marlene mentioned to me that Dr. Peter McCullough would be speaking at the Chautauqua Institute.  I loved the idea of going to the Chautauqua Institute so I started to look for information about the event in particular date, time, exact location and admission price.  I emailed someone at the Institution, but did not get a response.  Marlene was also looking for information online.  Basically, each of us found out the date and location:  The Atheneum Hotel at three p.m. on Monday.  So, we agreed to leave Lockport around nine a.m. Monday morning, for the two hour drive, a stop for a picnic lunch and allowing extra time in case of making a wrong turn, and maybe a chance to look around the Institution.  Marlene did make a wrong turn, so we had to backtrack, which used up close to a half an hour of our extra time.  ...

July 13th through July 21, 2025 including Trip to Seneca Falls, NY

SUNDAY the 13th:  The movie THE BIG YEAR was featured during this mornings sermon, as the third week of LETS GO TO THE MOVIES.  Leslie had told me about this movie, which is about birdwatchers who are obsessive and competitive and take a whole year off from their regular life to look for and find as many birds as possible  After church, Glenda, Dee Mann, Lori and I went to Kalamata's.  I had a wrap which was pretty good.  I went to PANERA to get a free drink before coming home.  I called Andrea in the early evening since she was not in church this morning.  She has an MRI scheduled tomorrow and is hoping to find out what is causing her severe constipation.   MONDAY:  I couldn't find anyone to go to the Y with me to walk, so I went by myself and walked about 29 minutes, I think, and did ten minutes on the recumbent bike.  I also picked up a book at the library and got a drink from Panera.  And I used a coupon to get a six...

SUNDAY:   This was the second week of AT THE MOVIES at Freedom Church.  The movie was FIRST MAN, the story of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, in 1969.  Unfortunately, there was a problem with the sound system, and much of what Pastor Craig said as well as the audio from the movie clips was hard to understand.  After church, Lori, Marlene, Glenda, Betty and I went to Denny's for lunch.  I spent the rest of the day at home.   MONDAY July 7th:Andrea called to tell me that she has  horrible stomach ache and could not go to the Chautauqua Institution with Marlene and I.  I called Marlene, and she said she would drive.   I met up with her at Freedom Church at a few minutes past nine a.m. and we headed out.  Unfortunately, Marlene made a wrong turn after getting off of 90 and we had to turn around and go all the way back to Fredonia, where she decided to take a different route to get to Chautauqua.  ...
