Friday September 28, 2018 in REDWOODS NATIONAL and STATE PARKS.

After breakfast at our lodging, which was pretty good,  we headed to Trees of Mystery a bit north of Klamath in order to take the gondola ride above the trees. We found it easily

and paid $14.00 for admission to the Sky Trail and the gondola.

The walk up the trail was really neat... we saw.lots of different trees.

It seemed like more than 1/3 of a mile to get to the gondola.  The gondola ride was pretty neat.
At the top we climbed to a lookout spot and then back down
and then we took the gondola back down
and walked a different trail back to the gift shop.  This trail had wooden carvings from various stories.

We decided to have lunch at TREES CAFE right across the road.
I had the INDIAN TACO, whichwas on Indian fry bread..........it was very colorful and very tasty.
I could not finish all of it

Then we went to the gift shop.  In the museum, I bought two small decorative items, I will give one to Betty who is getting my mail and checking on my house while I am away.

We stopped at this place as we  headed back to REDWOODS NATIONAL AND STATE PARKS but they did not have any salmon jerky.
Once we arrived back at the parks, our first stop was at PRAIRIE CREEK REDWOODS STATE PARK.  In the Visitors Center,
a ranger explained the boundaries of the National and State Parks to us (but we really did not
understand).  We decided to walk the REVELATION TRAIL before leaving Prairie Creek.
It was a nice trail with lots of big trees.

Then we headed down to the area that seems to be the main area of the Redwoods National Park
and we drove Bald Hill Road almost all the way to the end.  We stopped at Lady Bird Johnson
Grove and I walked a little bit of the trail,

while MaryAnne rested.  We also stopped at Redwood Creek Overlook and I took a couple of pictures.

We turned around and went back the same way (Bald Hill Road is not a through road). I stopped at the fire station and took these two pictures.
We had pretty much decided to head back to Klameth and our lodging, but decided to check out Elk Meadow. We passed some "elk watchers" and continued further down and parked in a parking area that had rest rooms and trails.  We decided to take the TRILLIUM FALLS TRAIL since
it appeared that the sign was telling us it was only a tenth of a mile.
On the way there, a fellow pointed to an area where he had seen an elk.  We were able to see the large male elk grazing.
We did not continue on the TFT beccause we realized the 1/10 of a mile was to the trailhead, and the actual trail was over two miles.

We drove out of Elk Meadow, back to 101 and right after we turned left out of it, we saw a LOT of elk on the opposite side of the road, so I stopped and I took several pictures.

I noticed some abandoned buildings so stopped and took a few pictures.

Then we headed back to Klameth and for supper we had CHESTER'S CHICKEN
in the convenience store at the gas station next door to our motel.   A woman I had talked with at breakfast this morning had recommended Chesters.  The chicken was inexpensive and
very good.

Back at  our lodging

to we spent some time sorting and organizing our stuff. .
