CUP AND SAUCER 6/20/19

Peggy set up an outing for her Life Group and the CONNECT group.  The plan was for everyone who wanted to go to meet at the church at five p.m.  She drove the van with nine of us, with plans to meet a few others there. However, when we arrived, there were a lot more than a few!  We ended up spread out all over the restaurant at three or four different tables.








As usual, the spaghetti was very good.  Where else can you get spaghetti with a meatball and garlic toast for a little over three dollars!?

 SUNDAY:  I got up a bit earlier than usual today because I had things to do to get ready for the COUSINS GATHERING later on here at my house.  Church was very good.  I went to DOLLAR TREE and purchased three bags of ice before going home.  When I got home, I started setting the backyard up with chairs and tables and filled my good cooler with ice and drinks.  Gail arrived first and Peggy and David arrived a few minutes later. Then Mike arrived.  He gave us the sad news that his wife Janie was just diagnosed with breast cancer, after a routine mammogram, a second mammogram and then a biopsy.  He said it was caught very early and Janie seems to be accepting the news pretty well.   David set up his grill in the garage and I brought the meat out.  He seemed disappointed that I only provided FOUR (very large) hot Italian sausage.  I suggested we cut them in half, but he did not seem to want to do that.  He cooked both the hot ...

 SUNDAY:  I decided to go to TOPS before going to church, hoping to get some IRISH SODA BREAD.  They had it (right inside the front door) so I got it, and a couple of other items. Church was excellent, the sermon was about HELL!!!   After church I took my groceries home and put the garbage out and changed into jeans before meeting up with Glenda, Elaine and Betty at LaPorts.  They all had corned beef and cabbage, but I had the turkey dinner.  I brought most of it home.  Pam called and wanted me to go to a musical event at a church, but I really wanted to spend the rest of the day at home.  I had a nap.  I scanned some of Peggy's NURSING HOME MINISTRY at Mt. 4/6/20 Aunt Myrtle' Coconut Oat Cookies

Buy Ingredients Ingredients 1 cup butter, softened 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut 1 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats 3/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted   (I substituted craisins) Preheat oven to 375°. (used 350) In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in coconut, oats and craisins.  On a side note, when I was gathering ingredients, I found three cans of baking powder, one expired in 1997, on one I could not find an exp. date and the third had expired but at least it expired in this century.  Two of these went into the trash.
