Sunday May 24th ONLINE CHURCH etc.

Leslie and I started to plan for a birthday get together next month.  My birthday is 6/5 and hers is 6/13.    She suggested MENDON PONDS, south of Rochester.  There are geocaches there as well as a trail that has Fairy Houses.

I watched ONLINE CHURCH.  Craig announced that church will re-open next Sunday in the back field, but he did not give out any details.

I took a short walk and then I spent ten minutes or so pulling weeds out of the flower beds along the front of my house.   I turned on my air conditioner for the first time this year and adjusted the humidity control on the unit.

I spoke with Pam on the phone.  She attended RAPIDS BIBLE CHURCH this morning.  She has been attending one of their Bible studies for a while.  This morning the Pastor resigned his position.  Betty called from Niagara Produce where she was shopping and asked me if I need anything besides a couple of grapefruit.  I said no, but she brought me a small bottle of red wine.

I talked with Peggy a couple of times on  the phone.  She and David were going to drive out to Olcott Beach late this afternoon.  I watched a few minutes of the five p.m. Q and A service from FREEDOM NORTH.

I emailed Leslie with some dates and a tentative plan for the two of us to meet up halfway between Auburn and Lockport to celebrate our June birthdays.

I watched an episode of THE A WORD.

 I got to the church around ten forty a.m.   I asked Lou to let me in to the office area and he did.  I picked up the boxes of cards, list of names and the printed Christmas carols and then I went down to the basement and looked for the "sugars" for the tea.  I found a few.  Then I located the case of bottles of water, but it was heavy, so I located Lou again and he carried it to the kitchen.   Once I got back to the kitchen, I looked for more "sugars" but couldn't find any, so I went to the COFFEE BAR, and they filled a bowl with different types for me.  I got the silverware ready.  I opened up the packaging that held the tablecloths captive (I have had difficulty opening them in the past) so that they would be ready to go.  David and Jan both came at the end of the service.  Jan located the floral displays for the tables, and we started to put the red tablecloths on the tables.  By this time, we had a lot of other helper...

 SUNDAY:  I decided to go to TOPS before going to church, hoping to get some IRISH SODA BREAD.  They had it (right inside the front door) so I got it, and a couple of other items. Church was excellent, the sermon was about HELL!!!   After church I took my groceries home and put the garbage out and changed into jeans before meeting up with Glenda, Elaine and Betty at LaPorts.  They all had corned beef and cabbage, but I had the turkey dinner.  I brought most of it home.  Pam called and wanted me to go to a musical event at a church, but I really wanted to spend the rest of the day at home.  I had a nap.  I scanned some of Peggy's NURSING HOME MINISTRY at Mt. Week of Sunday September 8th through Saturday September 14, 2024 (new password info)

 SUNDAY:  I got up a bit earlier than usual today because I had things to do to get ready for the COUSINS GATHERING later on here at my house.  Church was very good.  I went to DOLLAR TREE and purchased three bags of ice before going home.  When I got home, I started setting the backyard up with chairs and tables and filled my good cooler with ice and drinks.  Gail arrived first and Peggy and David arrived a few minutes later. Then Mike arrived.  He gave us the sad news that his wife Janie was just diagnosed with breast cancer, after a routine mammogram, a second mammogram and then a biopsy.  He said it was caught very early and Janie seems to be accepting the news pretty well.   David set up his grill in the garage and I brought the meat out.  He seemed disappointed that I only provided FOUR (very large) hot Italian sausage.  I suggested we cut them in half, but he did not seem to want to do that.  He cooked both the hot ...
