Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the cottage and more
I met up with Jim and Marcia Masters at 1533 Harrison Street (Mary Annes cottage) this morning. Jim showed me pictures he took of under the cottage. Because of fallen insulation and other things he saw, he wanted to change his offer from $62,000 to $60,000. I agreed and he called Marianne Koenig and we discussed it and the offer was accepted. Then they picked out some furniture that they want to purchase and we agreed on a price of $500. I think they are getting a bargain, but they refused to go any higher and like Marianne told me yesterday "we need to put this to bed."
I left shortly after they did. I stopped at Hillers and purchased celery and bananas and then I stopped at Gordy Harpers to see if I could find a seller in one of their many shops who sells the kinds of items that are in the cottage. I did find one, and I left my phone number with a worker at the front cash register.
Shortly after leaving Gordy's I had to turn around and take a different route since part of 78 was closed. It was closed all the way to Wrights Corners. Later on I found out that a car hit an electric pole and the electric line was in the road.
I stopped at Reids and had a quick lunch, hot dog, Dr. Pepper and onion rings. Then I went to my cousin George Boes shop and picked up a watch that he put a new battery in as well as my charm bracelet onto which he put the tiny charm I bought in Israel. I asked him if he might appraise the diamond rings and he said he can. I will call him ahead of time before taking them in.
I called Sheila since she left me a message saying that she wants to know the time the estate sale starts on Thursday. During our conversation, we discussed the possibility of taking a trip together. She plans to go out west with KNOWHOW TOURS in September 2021 and does not have anyone to go with her, so I told her that I will look at the info. I did that, and the trip does not go to any spots that I have already been to.so I think I am interested.
I called antique dealer Bruce Ader and set a time to meet him at the cottage for 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. He may be interested in purchasing some of the antique furniture.
A guy from the CENSUS knocked on the porch door. I was irritated since census forms have been returned for both the upstairs and downstairs apartments.
I prepared a dish according to a recipe that I found in Mary Anne's mothers recipe notebook. TURKEY AND STUFFING a recipe she got from the Lockport Radio Station. It is very good.
I called John Urtel to confirm the times for the estate sale. He told me he found a box of papers in one of the bedrooms. I picked it up when I went over to Mary Anne's house to put the trash cans out. When I got home, I sorted through it, but the missing deed was not in there. I kept the last ten years of income tax returns and threw the rest away.
