Tuesday September 15, 2020 in and around Rome NY

 We decided to go to the ROME SAND PLAINS to hike the yellow trail

and look for geocaches.  We found four out of the five we looked for.

This area is right behind the parking area.
  At the very last cache we found the trail was kind of barricaded;
I think Leslie would have been OK with going around it (which would have been difficult) even if it meant returning the same way and going around it again, but I was getting hot and tired, so we turned back. We are not sure how we managed to  follow the trail and exit at a spot that was NOT where we parked the car.   Good thing we marked the coords of the car, this helped us to know in which direction to walk.

Even though we had packed a picnic lunch we decided to go out for lunch and had to settle for Denny's since so many restaurants are closed or only offering take out.  The salmon off of the seniors menu was good.

Then we found two geocaches near Lee Center.  THE BEGINNING OF THE TRAIL and THE END OF THE ROAD.

We decided to look for one final geocache WETHERSFIELD SCHOOL.  We found the old one room school house, but not the geocache.

We arrived back at the cabin at six p.m. and we had supper out of the cooler and picnic basket.  I went to bed around nine p.m. and slept great.
