FRIDAY, April 9th, 2021

 I finished making the oatmeal raisin cookies this morning.  I made a couple of phone calls, one to Kevin Kopec at Northwest Bank, asking if he and I can meet soon.  The other to Baumann's Garage:  I made an appointment for an oil change, have the air conditioning checked and having the heat shield looked at (it started rattling again while I was in Hilton Head.  

I went out and ran errands. I stopped by Mike's house to drop off some money I owed him and the boys for helping out with snow shoveling.  I visited with Janie for several minutes.    I took the rent check over to Peggy at Freedom Church. I stopped by to see Myrna and left her some cookies, a few slices of rosemary bread, some turkey soup and some supplies I thought she might use including disposable gloves and disinfectant wipes.  Then I went to the DOLLAR TREE to get some items including UTZ Potato Chips to take tomorrow when I go to the refuge.  I picked up two roast beef sandwiches at Cucimano's and had one for lunch when I got home.  

In the evening, I watched THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE on PBS about The Chinese Exclusion.  It was excellent.

 This was what I saw out the window when I got up. The RUBY PRINCESS had stopped and we were in Skagway!  We had breakfast at the Botticelli (I had a soft boiled egg, toast, oatmeal and a banana) and then we returned to our room to get ready for getting off the ship and going to Skagway.  We got tickets for Shuttle #10 and went down to wait to be called.  Things moved along fairly quickly. The shuttle boat was one of the lifeboats, it took us to the mainland.  This is a view of the RUBY PRINCESS from the port.   When we arrived we took a shuttle to the downtown area where we walked around a bit. The downtown area has a lot of interesting shops, etc. but we did not have time to go in many of them.  Here are a few pictures:    We found a geocaches in the library (hooray). November 20th, 2020

 I had the oil changed on my car this morning.  I talked with Elaine and Betty on the phone, also.   I decided it would be a good day to stock up on groceries and other items since Thanksgiving is next week and the stores will be full of people.  Also, from watching the news, I think maybe there will be another STAY AT HOME order coming soon due to the rising number of COVID cases in this area.   First I went to Aldi's where I spent close to one hundred dollars on all sorts of items including some frozen vegetables, a piece of salmon, ground beef, canned vegetables, etc.  I took those groceries home so I could get the frozen stuff into the freezer.  I made myself  a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch.  I have so much food, paper items and cleaning items that it was hard to find spots to put everything.  I still have two hundred dollars worth of SNAP benefits available.   I rested, read and watched TV the rest ...

Tuesday, May 4th

 I got a call from Kevin K. at Northwest Bank at nine a.m. asking if I could come in and sign one more paper regarding my new SYMMETRA account.  I agreed to be at the bank at 9:45.   After that, I went to FREEDOM CHURCH for the Ladies Life Group.   Their were nine of us there and it went well.  Then five of us went out to lunch at THE OLIVE LEAF. During lunch I asked Elaine if we might be able to start up some fun things to do together on Tuesdays after Life Group.  We had started doing that a few years ago, but it never really stuck.  Elaine was very enthused about this idea.   When I got home, there was a call from the estate lawyer asking me to come in to the office and sign some forms regarding the Principal account at Key Bank.  I called and agreed to go in tomorrow morning.
