MEMORIAL DAY 2021 BIRD ISLAND PIER
Vicky called me this morning and we arranged to go together to the open house for HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SERVICES new house in Amherst on Wednesday.
Peggy asked me several days ago if I wanted to do something on Memorial Day since she has a day off from work. I agreed and put together a list of ideas for what we might do. She chose to go to BIRD ISLAND PIER in Buffalo. I met up with her at her house at ten thirty this morning and we headed towards Buffalo.
We drove around in a circle trying to find the park where the pier starts. We found it and parked and got started. I took several pictures. These four are before the pier.
We walked a little over a mile. I think the whole pier is about two miles long. It is a very interesting walk. You walk under the PEACE BRIDGE, which is only open now for truck deliveries.
and then quit because I did not feel comfortable climbing down this ladder. It was NOT attached anywhere. I think Peg would have gone down it if I had not chickened out. By this time we had walked a full mile, anyways, walking INTO the wind.
I don't know what this is.
truck going over the PEACE BRIDGE.
There must have been some sort of REGATTA today.
Altogether we walked a little over two miles. When we got back to Peg's car, we decided it was lunch time. Peggy wanted to go to RACHEL'S a Mediterranean place that her co-workers talk about. It is a chain restaurant. We went to the one in Amherst/Williamsville.I had Rachels Rice with grilled vegetables and a few other items thrown in.
Back in Lockport, we stopped at a yard sale and Peggy found two "camp chairs" for a dollar each.

After my nap I called Elaine to ask her how Nancy is doing with her move. We talked for over a half hour. Nancy will meet with the previous landlord at her old house tomorrow for a final walkthrough.
