TUESDAY June 21st, 2022 (First Day of Summer) and WEDNESDAY June 22nd
TUESDAY: Before going to Life Group, I called both Betty and Elaine and we all arranged to go to SOLID ROCK for spaghetti, arriving as close to five p.m. as possible. LIFE GROUP was going well, but we got somewhat off track, with personal testimonies. When I left at 11:45, we had not yet started the study.
I went to the Y for the Seniors Ice Cream Social. I took my own ice cream (Ben and Jerry's) in a cooler bag. I arrived a few minutes before it was scheduled to start (noon) and several people were already there, eating their ice cream. One whole table left a few minutes after I sat down. Jan arrived and joined the table I was at. Marilyn, who was one of the original leaders of this group, was there. Joanna was serving the ice cream. I did not see Joanna take this picture which she posted on the Y's facebook page, with this caption: Today we had our first senior social and towards the end a woman came in to see what we were doing. She had just joined on Saturday and didn’t really know about all the things the Y offered. This group of members instantly started talking to her telling her about clubs, classes, what to pick up from the desk, where the schedules were located. It was so nice to see the members come together and welcome a new person in. The Y is truly a community!
Elaine picked me up at 4:40 and we went to SOLID ROCK. Betty and Myrna were already there, and they had saved a table for six. Peggy and David arrived about ten minutes after Elaine and I got there. Peggy told us the whole story about the woman (Katherine) who had been escorted out of church during the eleven a.m. service. She has been asked not to return, due to two issues: 1. overstepping simple boundaries by going to the front of the church at the wrong time and 2. disturbing the service by standing up and speaking up out of turn.
Either Elaine or Kim posted this picture on facebook, Apparently the three of them got together to play SEQUENCE this afternoon.
It was a beautiful evening. I went outside and cut back some plants or flowers that were exposed when Peggy cut down some of the bushes lining the east side of the driveway.
Later on in the evening, I found information online about the movie ELVIS. There were several phone calls involved, but the end result is that Elaine, Barb Lindke and I will be going to the DIPSON next Monday July 27th for the twelve p.m. showing.
WEDNESDAY:
I had my chiropractic appointment this morning. Breanne gave me four tomato plants. After Dr. Kurb I went to Mullens and purchased the "laundry center" using a credit card. I made a few phone calls to look for a rubber mat to go under the new machine without any success. Peggy found one on AMAZON that may be too large, but she ordered it, and it can be returned if it won't work. Mullens will wait until I get the tray and then we will set up a delivery date.
I found spots for three of the four tomato plants, but I am not sure they will get enough sun, but anyways, they are planted.
I invited Pam over to watch WHAT IS A WOMAN? and she enjoyed it. As she was leaving we noticed a dear in Mr. Whalen's yard. She walked down the sidewalk to the corner and turned north on Prospect. I think she is looking for a way to get back to one of the wooded areas.
I found HOTEL PORTOFINO on PBS on demand and rewatched episode one and also read a summary of this episode online and now I have a better understanding of what was going on, and the characters.
