FRIDAY, September 30th, 2022 Great Day in Buffalo with Jan

I met up with Jan at her place at ten fifteen a.m. and we headed to Buffalo.  Jan had mentioned going to the ERIE BASIN MARINA someday, so I suggested that we could do it today.  She and her kids have spent a lot of time there when they lived in Buffalo.  It is a beautiful place, offering a great view of the Buffalo Lighthouse.   The observation tower. A little beach which is closed now.  You would have to climb past NO TRESPASSING signs and over huge, jagged rocks to get down to it. I don't know what this orange topped building is. We walked back to the car, but continued walking to the huge ships and monuments to those who have served and given their lives.  We also saw the huge ship Olympia ? that had been sinking but was saved earlier this year.   WE kept going and came to this place where a replica of the Erie Canal Boat SENECA CHIEF is being built by volunteers to commemorate the bicentennial of the opening of the erie canal.   Visitors can watch the volunteers workinge   A

WEDNESDAY:   I did not sleep well last night and was still sluggish at 8:50 a.m. when I called Dr. Kurbs office to apologize for missing my Monday morning appointment.  Breanne told me to come in at ten a.m.  When I was waiting to go in a tall, old man came out of Dr. K's treatment room and pointed at me and said, "look whose here".  I was getting ready to tell him that we do not know each other, but he started talking.  He said he was a Boy Scout.  I asked if he still knows how to make a fire and he said "only if I have matches".  He said something about the scouts and the church, but I don't remember exactly what.  I thought maybe he was referring to the sex abuse scandals and the RC priests.  He was struggling with getting his sweater on so I offered to help him get his arm in.  His wife turned around and said she didn't know he was having trouble, so I told her I was enjoying helping "this handsome man".  He said something, I don't reme

SUNDAY:  I left the house a half hour earlier today in order to pick up a prescription at Rite Aid.  I also went to the two other Rite Aids hoping to find more vests in different colors in my size.   Both stores had the vests marked way down, but not in my size. After church, Betty, Glenda, me and Mary Watt went to lunch at THE OLIVE LEAF.  We had a nice time together.  The place did not have its usual Sunday after church crowd, maybe because of the football game scheduled to start at one p.m.  I had a burger and fries, which was good.  In the evening I watched more of DOWNTON ABBEY and then I decided to sew my GLACIER patch onto my vest.  I was having a heck of a time, and constantly pricking my finger, so I quit. MONDAY:  I met up with Lori at the library so that she could help me access HOOPLA.  It turns out that when I lost my library card a few years ago and got a new one I failed to change my password.  So that was remedied quickly enough and now I can access HOOPLA on my chrom

Before going to Peggy and Davids house, I stopped at the Rite Aid on Main and Washburn hoping to find a vest like the one I purchased yesterday at the Summit Street Rite Aid, but in a different color.  I lucked out in that they had a bluish/green one in my size, so I purchased it. Then I went to Peg's house.  We decided to take my car, so David could drive it.  We headed to Buffalo for DOORS OPEN BUFFALO. Our first stop was at Eugene V. Debbs Hall which is a restored 1914 saloon.  I think this was the most interesting spot we went to today.  The girl tending bar gave out lots of historical information.  A big plus was that they offered refreshments PAULA'S DONUTS and coffee.  We each had a donut while we listened to the "hostess" tell us about the history of the place.    David suggested we go to BUFFALO CENTRAL TERMINAL even though we did not have tickets for self-guided tours.  When Peggy called the other day to try to get some, she was told they were all taken.
