FRIDAY, September 30th, 2022 Great Day in Buffalo with Jan

I met up with Jan at her place at ten fifteen a.m. and we headed to Buffalo.  Jan had mentioned going to the ERIE BASIN MARINA someday, so I suggested that we could do it today.  She and her kids have spent a lot of time there when they lived in Buffalo.  It is a beautiful place, offering a great view of the Buffalo Lighthouse.

  The observation tower.

A little beach which is closed now.  You would have to climb past NO TRESPASSING signs and over huge, jagged rocks to get down to it.

I don't know what this orange topped building is.

We walked back to the car, but continued walking to the huge ships and monuments to those who have served and given their lives.

We also saw the huge ship Olympia ? that had been sinking but was saved earlier this year.

WE kept going and came to this place where a replica of the Erie Canal Boat SENECA CHIEF is being built by volunteers to commemorate the bicentennial of the opening of the erie canal.

Visitors can watch the volunteers workinge

And then we walked back to the car.  We had packed lunches (my idea) but Jan wanted to go to the TOWNE RESTAURANT where she used to frequent years ago when she lived in Buffalo. It is a Greek/American restaurant.

I ordered pita and hummus and a hot dog with home fries.  Jan had a bowl with scrambled eggs and home fries.    There is a lot of construction going on in Allentown.

We stopped at the LEXINGTON CO-OP

and we each purchased some items.  There was a really good price on gluten free, lactose free chocolate bars and I purchased several.  It was a great day!  It was good to get some fresh air and exercise.
