FRIDAY the 14th of October 2022 in ALLEGANY STATE PARK

This was Cindy and Jen's last day with me in the park since Cindy needed to be home for her FREEDOM GROUP tomorrow morning.   Jen left at noon because she had a two p.m. appointment.  Before she left, the three of us had lunch together.  She left us a lot of food and other items such as disinfectant wipes, wood and fire starters.

Leslie arrived at one fifteen p.m.  She had forgotten to bring our cottage name and number.  When she stopped at the Red House Administration Bldg., they could not give her any information about how to find me.  But when she said the name of the cottage trail started with a P, she was told that was probably PARALLEL TRAIL.  She found the trail and was driving through.  Cindy was outside and saw her driving by and hollered "Leslie is here" so I went out to the porch.  Cindy and Leslie had never met, but I guess Leslie looked as if she was looking for something, which made Cindi think it was her. She pulled in and we helped her bring her stuff inside.  She made herself some lunch and she and Cindy got to know each other.   She got herself settled into the bedroom with twin beds.

After a while Cindy and I became concerned because Lori did not arrive (she had stated that she would arrive around eleven a.m.).    We drove to Quaker Lake where we could get cell phone reception and were able to reach her by phone.  She said she was just south of Ellicottville and heading to Salamanca.  I told Lori she was an hour or so away, but Cindi chimed in and said she was a half hour away. Since she was so close, Cindi decided to wait so she could see her before leaving.  However, Lori did not arrive after an hour and a half, so she headed home to Lockport.  After a while, Leslie and I decided to find cell reception again and try to reach Lori, so I taped a note to Lori to the front door of our cottage, in case she arrived before we got back.   We couldn't reach her, but when we got back to our cottage, Lori's car was in the parking area, and she was sitting on the porch.  She explained that she was doing fine until she got inside the park, and she kept getting lost, and she had asked for directions a few times.  Her last stop was at the QUAKER STORE, where she bought wood (she was given two bags of wood for the price of one) and got good directions to our cottage.  I think she was pretty worn out by the time she found us.  But she was in good spirits and not at all discouraged.

Leslie prepared chili burgers on the grill she brought with her. They were very good.  That was our supper, along with macaroni salad and baked beans.

It looks like I didn't take a single picture today.  The day was a bit stressful mostly because of wondering if Lori would arrive safely.  She did!!!!

I think Lori's problem finding our cottage was due to her not having the map of the park which I highlighted.  She said she looked at it, but when I looked through the pile of papers she set on the kitchen counter, it was not there.  At any rate, both Leslie and Lori made it in spite of not knowing exactly where to go!  God is good!
