Monday, October 10th, 2022 TO ALLEGANY!!!!!!

Cindi was a bit late picking me up because she forgot to grab a pair of gloves before leaving.so she went back home to get some.  She arrived about 10:20 a.m. and we headed south to ALLEGANY STATE PARK.   We met up with Jen at the Burger King in Salamanca where we had lunch before heading to the park.

Cindi and I got in free with our reservation number, but Jen had to pay SEVEN DOLLARS.  Darn.  Our first stop was at the Red House Administration Building,

mostly to use the ladies room.  While there we spent some time in the gift shop and Jen purchased a lightweight hoodie in pastel blues and pink and white for me.

In August of 2021 when Cindi and I did a day trip to ASP to check out the location of our cabin for October 2021, we had lunch at the restaurant upstairs in the Red House Administration Building.  We met a very nice, friendly server named Jessica and Cindi witnessed to her about Jesus, while I prayed that Cindi would say exactly what Jessica needed.  Jessica was very happy to talk with us and confided that she was the single Mom of three kids and she had been an addict and was recovering.  Cindi asked a worker in the store about Jessica and we were told that Jessica overdosed and died shortly after we met her.

Then we headed down to QUAKER to the registration office.   We were able to sign in, but were asked to wait until 2:45 p.m. (about fifteen or twenty minutes) to get our key.  It was a gorgeous day and we found a bench outside and waited.

We found PARALLEL 9 in good condition and got settled in.  I got the bedroom with the double (or maybe queen sized bed.   Jen had said she would sleep on one of the futons in the front room, but she decided to sleep on one of the twin beds in the other bedroom, with Cindi.  I think Cindi was kind of disappointed at this.   We were surprised at the lack of furniture, much less than the in the Fancher cottages.  No coffee table in the front room.  No dressers in the bedrooms.  The two-twin bed bedroom had a row of vertical shelves in a corner, but my room only had one small shelf on top of a place to hang clothing.

We walked a bit of the bike trail and started to walk the Bear Caves-Mt. Seneca Trail

but turned around after going a short distance, so we returned to our cottage.

Our original plans had been to go out for supper every night but we just wanted to enjoy the evening at our cottage, so we decided not to go out for supper, instead, Jen cooked hot dogs over the fire she built and started, and we had baked beans and macaroni salad and green salad, and then we made S'MORES and enjoyed the fire.

If I remember right, Cindi ate EIGHT toasted marshmallows!!!
