Saturday October 15th in ASP

Lori slept on one of the futons in the living room area.  She said she slept very well.  My leg was not at all painful today, I would say it is back to normal.

After breakfast, Leslie drove the three of us around the park, so we could show its features to Lori.  She had driven over most of the park yesterday when she was looking for our cottage.  First to Thunder Rocks, then we drove down France Brook Road to see the beaver pond. We went to the Red House Administration Office for a short time.  Lori and I sat outside in the Adirondack chairs for a few minutes, and we also checked out the gift shop.

One of the highlights of our time in the park today was when Leslie spotted a BARD OWL.  She pulled over.  I got out of her car to take a picture, but apparently when I shut the car door, I scared it and it flew into the woods.

The color at QUAKER LAKE was gorgeous.

We located the road that goes to WOLF RUN Road and drove to the end.

One of the high points of this day was when Leslie agreed to stop so I could check out an abandoned training post:  THE BEAR CLAW TRADING POST, just outside the Quaker Run area of the park.

Unfortunately, both doors to the store were locked.
This appears to have been the residence of the owners.

After that we headed back to our cottage. We had chicken marinated in Brooks marinade sauce, along with baked potatoes and three bean salad for supper.  We had a nice fire and made s'mores.   We played a few games. It was a great day!
