Week of Sunday, March 31st through April 6th, 2024

SUNDAY:  I picked Jan up for church.  Church was great!!!!

They offered a continental breakfast before and after the service, but I had a bit of an upset stomach before the service and after the service, I did not want to spoil my appetite for Easter dinner.  After church, Jan and I met up with Peggy and first we took Jan home and then went back to Peg's house to pick David up.  We took my car and David drove.  We went to Antonio's in Niagara Falls for their Easter Brunch.  It was very good.  The highlight was the very tender and tasty lamb for which mint jelly was provided.  The ham was also delicious and tender.  After the meal, David asked if I wanted to fill up my gas tank on the reservation and I agreed.  However, when we got there he decided the prices were too high.  I spent the rest of the day at home.

APRIL FOOLS DAY 2024  I started preparations for tonights supper since Susan and Jaoob are coming down fore supper here.  It will be a meatless meal since Susan does not eat meat.  All of the vegetables are cut up for CHEESY ZUCCHINI BAKE.  The easy no yeast rolls are already on the table and the pie (coconut) is made.   The ingredients for the Waldorf salad are sitting out so I can cut the apple and banana closer to supper time.  I will cook some spaghetti so that we have something starchy to go with our meal.

I ran a few errands before going to the Y for my class.  We walked outside because the gym floor has been varnished or treated or something and there is a bit of an odor inside.  Susa, Breanna and I walked thirty three minutes.  Before going home I dropped off two pair of eclipse glasses at David and Peggy's house.  I rested a bit before preparing supper for Susan and Jake.  Everything turned out OK and we talked for a long time.

TUESDAY APRIL 2, 2024  I spent the day at home except for going to my appointment with Dr. Chubineh.  He is in his Lockport office full time now.  I tried a new recipe for ONION SOUP RICE.  I am not sure if I like it enough to make it again..  I read quite a bit in my book

WEDNESAY:   I was doing laundry this morning when I got the thought that I really wanted to have lunch at Manito's, a kind of new Mexican place in Wrights Corners that has become very popular especially since it made a list called something like THE ONE HUNDRED BEST PLACES TO EAT IN THE USA.  I called Peg and asked her if she wanted to go and she did so we agreed that she would pick me up at quarter to noon.  She did and we went to Manito's and really enjoyed it.
Luckily, we got there before the lunch rush.
I had the fish taco.

When we finished, she asked if I wanted to go Door Dashing with her.  I agreed and she picked up some items at Kenyon's and delivered it to a girl at WLVL on Michigan Street.  After she dropped me off, I went to the Y for the WALK WITH EASE CLASS.  I walked a half an hour on the track, and then I went to Niagara Produce because I needed bananas and to NorthWest bank to get some cash.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I arranged for  small get together here at my place on Friday.  Susan, Peggy and I will get together to play a board game or two.  Gail might come, too, even though she dislikes boat.  I found the movie DANCING AT LUGHNASA and watched it, it is very good.

THURSDAY:  I went to the TRAVEL MEETING at the Dale Association this morning.  Marlene was a bit late and missed a bit of it.  Honestly, I don't think I got anything out of the meeting itself but as Marlene and I were leaving we stopped to check out the section of the wall that offers information about various trips (several day trips) and saw one that is being sponsored by the BARKER SENIORS GROUP, going to Quebec and Montreal in September.  Only issue for me is that I would arrive home from this trip and only have one full day before the first day of my ASP trip.  After that I went to ALDI to get cereal and orange juice, but I found a lot of other items that I need.  Then I went to pick Jan up at her apartment.  As I pulled into her parking lot, I saw Yolanda standing outside of her apartment door.  I parked and got out and hollered to her.  She said was waiting for a taxi to pick her up and take her to the hospital.  I told her I would wait with her.  A couple of seconds after I reached her side, the taxi pulled in, so I walked out with her and prayed for her as we walked, and helped her into the back of the taxi.  We could not get her seatbelt on, I am not sure why, so I asked the driver if it would be OK if she rode without it an he said it was OK.  Yolanda did not exactly tell me what was wrong.  I offered to call Peggy and to get her on the prayer chain and she said it was OK for Peggy to know, but she did not want to be put on the prayer chain.  So after she left, I called Peggy and told her, and then I called Jan to tell her I was there.  I took her to two banks and then we went to Niagara Candy, a pop up store that has been selling Easter candy.  I did not buy anything, but Jan found a couple of items at fifty percent off.  Then we went to the DOLLAR TREE.  And then I took her home.

FRIDAY:  I went to the Y for my class, there were only three of us there today:  me, Susan and Elizabeth.  Tammy was our leader, since Breanna needed the day off.  Tammy did a great job of leading us in warm up and cool down exercises, some of them are different from the Breanna's.  I stopped at RiteAid to pick up a prescription on the way home.  I took a short nap on the couch and then had a quick supper before Susan and Peggy arrived at six thirty for a GIRLS GAME NIGHT.  We had invited Gail, but she did not come.  We played two games of BANAGRAMS

and one game of PHASE TEN.   I got this game at a yard sale a few years ago and it was the first time it got used.

The first game of Banagrams was a practice game, and the second was a draw, and I won Phase Ten.  I provided drinks, cookies and Utz potato chips for snacks.  We had a great time, ending at about ten minutes after nine p.m.   Peg and David invited me for supper tomorrow evening.  I watched a couple of old episodes of BULL after Peg and Susan left.

SATURDAY the 6th:  Slept in, then started cooking: macaroni and cheese, Cracker Barrel biscuits and egg custard. Cleaned kitchen and ran dishwasher. When all that was done, I laid down on the couch and rested for a while. Looked up ideas for a June getaway with my friend (we go away every June to celebrate our birthdays). Took my food over to my sister and brother in laws house where we shared a great meal, and then we watched THE POSEIDEN ADVENTURE (old version. I got home just in time to watch an episode of SVU.
