Saturday the 31st:   First thing today, I made a list of things TO DO.  I completed all of them and also went down to the TURK's house to pick up my mail.  I also worked on labelling my pictures in flickr.  For lunch, I called Little Caesers and ordered a lunch special and picked it up.  I worked in Carrie's room for a while.  I had made a list of other things to do today and I completed all of them and a couple more. SUNDAY September 1, 2024:  After church, Lori, Marlene, Glenda, Shirley and I had planned to go to Molinaro's for lunch.  However, when Glenda and I arrived at Molinaro's, we found that it would not open until three p.m.  I texted Marlene and called Lori to tell them of the change.  Lori had Shirley in her car with her.  Eventually, the three of them arrived at LaPorts, which was kind of quiet today.  I had the turkey dinner and brought two large thick slices of turkey home with me.  I took a nap on the couch and worked more in Carrie's room and sorte

MONDAY:  Unfortunately, I did not sleep well last night, so I opened a can of DR PEPPER to drink with my breakfast.  I showered and finished packing.  I called the Y and signed up for the September 9th craft class. I left Lockport at ten am after getting cash at NW Bank and filling up my gas tank.  I got on the thruway at Pembroke and stopped 2 times to use a rest room, and arrived at Leslie's apartment around one p.m.  I was disappointed that Leslie was rather unprepared for my visit and was cleaning and organizing after I arrived.   When she finished, we went to her garden.  I took some pictures.  Then she offered to drop me off at the library for an hour or so, so that she could go back and work in her garden.  I think she said that Mondays are her day to water.  The library is beautiful, no a/c but I took the liberty of positioning one fan in my direction while I used the wifi. We looked for a pizzeria that was open, but it was Monday, and most were closed so we ended up at Cu

MONDAY:  I met up with Jan at the Y and we walked for a half hour.  I stopped at Subway and bought a sandwich for my lunch.  I took a nap in the afternoon and did a load of laundry.  I met up with Jan at six p.m. at Ida Fritz Park for the  Lockport Monday Night Cruise  It was ELVIS NIGHT with Terry Buchwald.  It was the first cruise night I attended this summer.  It was very good BUT it was cold and a bit damp, so Jan and I left when it was half over. There were not a whole lot of cars there.  There were a couple of food trucks, plus other food and souvenirs offered and they had a 50/50.  I did not spend a penny! TUESDAY the 20th:  I went to Life Group along with eleven others.  We are still plodding through HOSEA.  I had not done my homework, since I was away so much of this past week. Honestly, I think that only Donna and Cindi (and possibly Karen) really understand this book of the Bible.  There is so much allegory.  After we were finished, eight of us went to Denny's for lunch

HITTING THE ROAD with Marlene: August 15 through 18, 2024

DAY ONE:  THURSDAY August 15th:  We left Marlene's house a little after eight a.m.  Headed south in order to go to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.  First stop at a Visitors Center where we had a picnic lunch.  Then onto Leonard Harrison State Park.  There is a great viewing area behind the gift shop/visitors center.  There are trails that go down to the canyon, but we chose to walk the OVERLOOK TRAIL which is boardwalk and steps going to a smaller overlook.  I loved seeing the turkey vultures swooping gracefully though the air.   Just beautiful!!! Then we headed back to Wellsboro but stopped at a gift shop (I think the name of it is Omi of the Canyon) just outside the park and then a Mennonite Store named STONY FORK COUNTRY STORE.  The sign said it has been in business since 1883. They offered a LOT of baked goods.  I bought some pretzels.  As we left the store, I noticed that just down the road, it looked like a small village.  I asked Marlene to drive down there.  She hesitate

SUNDAY:   Again, church was really good.  When I was leaving church, I asked Andrea if she was going to go to the Lockport Food Fest.  She said she wanted to go and was hoping to find someone to go with her.  I told her that Lori, Marlene and I were going, and she could join us, and I told her where we were going to meet.  She said she was going to ask Pam Campanini if she wanted to go, and I told her that Pam could join us also.  Anyways, Marlene, Lori, Glenda, Andrea and I all met up at the chosen spot, in front of LADIES OF THE LOCKS.  Luckily, Lori was able to park right on the corner, so she did not have to walk far.  I think each one of us had a good time even though we were very unorganized.  Marlene did what she usually does, take off and walk on her own, not paying attention to what the rest of us are doing. One time, Andrea said she was trying to figure out where we were going, and I told her that I should have warned her that we never know what we are doing or where we are
