Week of Sunday October 20th through Saturday October 26th, 2024

SUNDAY the 20th:    First thing after getting up, I threw together the ingredients for custard and put it in the oven.  It was in the frig before I left for church.  Church was great.  We honored Pastor Craig with a video and a huge card which was available for all of us to sign, because October is PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH.  Betty did not come to church so Donna took her seat.  After church, I came home and had a very light lunch.  Then I took a nap.  Shortly after I woke up, I headed over to Peggy and David's house with red velvet cookies

and baked custard and cheesy muffins.   David had prepared roast chicken, stuffing and gravy.  Peggy had prepared acorn squash. Everything was very good.  After supper, we watched the first episode of the series 24 and then two episodes of TINY HOUSE.  Then I headed home, (with leftovers) arriving about 7:30.  Mike had left a message asking if I was planning on going to Mr. Bil's Bible study tomorrow night.  He said he would skip his coin club meeting if I wanted to go.  I told him I appreciate that but I was out tonight and will be out Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and that too many nights out exhaust me.

MONDAY:  I spent a long time on the phone with A T and T regarding the fact that emails have been telling me that I own then over one hundred fifty dollars.  I have to wait for another email with a lesser amount and then call again.  I went to WalMart and purchased a plug for my new phone and got some groceries and then met up with Jan at the Y where we walked a half hour or a bit more, in three shifts.  I went to DOLLAR TREE and purchased a LOT of items for the Christmas boxes I will be putting together and then to Subway where I used a coupon to get a small sub and then home where I ate lunch and had a nap.  Peggy and Andrew came over to look through the garage to see if Andrew wanted anything.  He took a few things.  I worked on the homework for tomorrows Life Group.

TUESDAY the 22nd   First thing today I put the bones from the chicken David cooked on Sunday into my crockpot on high and left it to cook.   I attended the Ladies Life Group this morning.   Cindy went and picked up Chinese lunches for those of us who decided to stay.  I went home and worked on chopping vegetables for the soup, let the broth cool down and took a nap.  When I got up, I called Sarah to confirm the time for the PURSE AUCTION she told me about.  I had the times right.  Becky called to say she was on her way to Lockport.  I went to the Salvation Army for the spaghetti supper and auction.  Becky arrived first.  The spaghetti was NOT the usual spaghetti, it was something completely different, some sort of white sauce and canned tuna in it  The bread and dessert (cake) was the best part of that meal.  The auction was fun and lively.  Peggy bid on and won three bags.  She gave one of them away, and turned this one back in so they could auction if off a second time.

Becky bid on one and won.

I was not sure I was going to bid high enough to get a bag, but Peggy saw one and said I should bit on it.  I got it for eight dollars.

It had a lot of scrap booking materials in it, which I gave away to a woman at the next table.  She gave most of all of the items back to the woman who had filled the bag.  Becky, Betty and Peggy all left early, but I stayed until the end.  They missed the best part when the auctioneer was trying hard to get rid of stuff like shoes and witches hats, etc.  When I got home, there was a message from Bob which I returned.  He had gone to see Carrie both at her home and program yesterday and was in Ohio with his niece Debby.

Wednesday the 23rd:   In the morning I called PureTalk and activated my new phone.  The first tech was not helpful but the second one was and I am all registered.  My passcode is 651949.   After that I called Pam and we met up at the History Center to see the art exhibit and then went to the Y and walked for a half an hour.  Then I came home and continued working on my chicken soup.  I called Lockport Cares and signed up four  people for their fundraiser on November 12th at the Palace Theatre, six p.m. doors open for six thirty meal served.  I called Peggy and Pam and they both agreed to go and I got their meal choices.  I left a message for both Elaine and Marlene.  When I reached Betty she said yes, she is interested and will ask Elaine and then call me back.  Elaine called back later and said she has a Deacon's  meeting and cannot come.  I called Paula and left a message and she and I will go out to lunch to celebrate her birthday a week from today, at POT OF GOLD, here in Lockport, a place I have never been.  I had been planning on going to church for IMPACT NIGHT, to hear the Trimbles, missionaries to Haiti, speak.  However, I decided not to and watched it live online.  It was a very good service.  Later on, I messaged Lori about the Lockport Cares event and she will try to get that day off from work.  Peggy and I talked on the phone and we agreed to have Thanksgiving Dinner at her house.  I will buy the turkey and David will prepare it along with stuffing and gravy.  We will discuss the other sides in a couple of weeks.  Peggy and David are OK with me inviting both Becky (our cousin) and our friend Elizabeth who does not have any family here in New York.

THURSDAY the 24th:  I got up in plenty of time to get ready for my 9:20 dental appointment.  I had my teeth cleaned by a dental hygienist.  It was a much more thorough cleaning than I had been getting from Dr. Smith for the past several years.  Then I had some time at home to get ready for the VICTORIAN TEA at MARANATHA, the small mansion owned by Pat and Jay Poeller.  I put together a long patterned skirt with a long sleeved black pullover shirt, and over that a short sleeved lacy cover that opens in the front.  I chose some jewelry.  My legs felt so bare under the skirt (it was chilly this morning) so I wore a pair of leggings in the same color as my shirt, and wore sandals.  I left early in order to pick up Tracy, a woman that needed a ride who lives off of Vine Street in Lower town.  We arrived at Maranatha right around noon or a couple of minutes before and seven or eight people were already there.  More arrived over the next ten or fifteen minutes.  I think about 22 women participated.  Cindi played the piano and we sang a couple of worship songs before Peggy led in a very interesting devotion.

Then we had lunch which was small sandwiches and scones and a few dessert items, tea and lemon flavored water.  After lunch, we had the opportunity to make  small craft, led by Pat's granddaughters

(Caroline and Victoria).  People started leaving about a little before two p.m. (except for the one lady who thought the event started at two p.m. and arrived late).  I went home and changed out of my dress up clothing.  I received a call from JB Computers that my computer was ready except that they want to order a new power port (or something like that) so they will keep my laptop until the part arrives and they install it, hopefully next Monday which is four days away.  I went to Niagara Produce and got bananas and milk.  After that, I took a nap.  In the early evening, I talked with both Maggie and Elaine about upcoming events. Maggie will be the fourth person in my group when we go to the PALACE for the free movie and meal.

FRIDAY the 25th:   Peg and I were going to visit Shirley who is in a hospital in Buffalo, following surgery and then a couple of small strokes.  However, when Peg called Shirley's son, she found out that Shirley is now home and her son did not think she was up to a visit yet.  We tossed around a few ideas about what to do instead.  We ended up first delivering a few boxes of books to the friend of the Christie's who sells them to support their ministry.  Then we went to Walton Woods and took a nice hike.

Then we went to a newish restaurant that we had noticed on the boulevard:  OG DUMPLING HOUSE.  We really liked this restaurant and our meals.
I had the ORANGE CHICKEN, in addition to the brocolli, it came with a large bowl of rice.
I was unable to eat all of it, and took some home, which I had for supper.

A few minutes after I got home, I had a call from JB COMPUTERS that my laptop was fully repaired and ready to pick up.  So, I went over to get it since if I had not, I would have had to wait until Monday.  I decided to skip my nap in order to get caught up on uploading pictures and getting them into flickr.  That was a mistake because after an hour or so, I realized that I was falling asleep.  So I found something on youtube to listen to and curled up with a blanket on the couch and took a nap.

Saturday the 26th:  Peggy and I went over to visit with Carrie this morning.  I got my credit card bill in the mail and saw that AT&T claimed two charges, totaling over one hundred dollars. I called AT&T and then my credit card to ask for help disputing the charges.  I was told to subtract those charges from my bill before paying.  After Peg left, I went to the Cornell Center and voted.  I ran into Deb Seymour there and I told her about the upcoming event at the Palace.  I stopped at Reid's and purchased lunch which I took home and ate.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I finished up some leftovers for supper.  I watched a LifeTime movie in the evening.
