Week of Sunday November 10th through Saturday November 16th, 2024

SUNDAY:  I called Elaine to tell her that I have a very busy week ahead and don't think I should add in the turkey dinner at the Cambria Church on Wednesday.  Church was very good.  After church Glenda, Betty, Marlene and I went to LaPorts for lunch.  We invited Andrea Hayes but she said she was broke, but she wants to join us next Sunday.  I had the grilled chicken dinner, which was very good, and I brought most of my chicken home.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I watched the movie TAKEN, took a nap, and called Jan since she did not come to church this morning.  She has had a headache all day .  I looked up information about how to renew my passport and I think I might be able to take care of it at the Niagara County Clerks Office on Hawley Street.  I think I will go there tomorrow morning.  I decided to start a spiral notebook and record important things I do so that I can refer to them if necessary.  I did that several years ago when I was dealing with a problem with my medical insurance paying a hospital bill, and it helped to have an ongoing record of contacts and what they said, who they referred me to, etc.  Pam called today to confirm that I will meet her at Hillmans tomorrow at ten a.m. I feel sorry for Pam, she hates living alone.  I love it, but I have a much nicer place to live than she has.

MONDAY:  I went to Hillman's to meet up with Pam in order to give her a ride home after dropping her car off.  Unfortunately, she SAID Hillman's but Housels was where she was waiting for me.  I figured it out and picked her up a few minutes after ten a.m.  I didn't say anything to her about the issue, since I did not want to stress her out.  After picking her up, I took her to Kaleida and dropped her off so that she could get her blood work done.  While she was doing that, I went to WalMart and picked up the groceries I need.  When I picked her up at Kaleida, she said she was feeling shaky because she did not have any breakfast.  So, we went to McDonalds and she treated me to the five dollar meal deal.  While I was throwing our remnants out, she got a phone call that her car would be ready in an hour.  I suggested we either go to the Y and walk the track or go to the library.  She chose the library.  I read the recent local newspapers.  There was an elderly man reading the local papers and he had all the recent ones.  I asked him if he was finished with some of them.  He was very hard of hearing.  He told me that he delivered the Union Sun and Journal starting in 1948 for a few years.  He was the only boy in his family and had six sisters, he was right in the middle.  When he could not do his route, his sisters took over.  He said his parents let them keep the money.  I told him that it sounded fair to me.  I noticed the name of a navy ship on his jacket, and thanked him for serving. Pam showed up and said her car was done and I took her to Housels to pick it up.  I got home a few minutes after one p.m.  I made a four bean salad.  I took a short nap.  I communicated with both Janet and Maggie about our upcoming trip to West Seneca so that Janet can visit her sister who has Alzheimers.  I made chicken and biscuits and four bean salad for my supper and then watched TV until it was time to go to the Sleep Center.

TUESDAY:  Last nights SLEEP STUDY was a night from hell  Michelle, the same tech from before had me try a sleep device.  Then when I was trying to sleep (starting at ten forty p.m.), she was in the room next door playing an online game (I think).  All I heard was crashing and banging and screeching, etc.  After a while I asked her to turn it down.  She did, but that did not last, it started being very loud again.  At a few minutes after one a.m. I told her that I wanted to go home.  I signed a paper which stated my reason for leaving was "cannot fall asleep". UGH    When I got home, I showered and shampooed my hair in order to get rid of the gunk that remained.  This morning I had the opportunity to do a review and I stated that the reason I could not sleep was because of the loud gaming or tv or whatever coming from the next room.  I got a couple of hours of sleep and got up around eight a.m.  I went to the Niagara County Clerks office and filled out an application to renew my passport and I have everything ready to take to the post office, which I will do tomorrow, since I do not feel that I should drive, feeling the way I do.  When I got home, there was a message from Michaelene.  She joined the Y and wants to go to the turkey dinner next week.  I had chicken and biscuits, leftover from last night, for lunch and then took a nice nap.  I think I slept a couple of hours.  I know that I felt much better when I got up and got ready for going to the PALACE for the free movie and dinner.  I met up with Peggy, Marlene, Betty and Maggie there.  I told Deb the wrong time so she arrived late, after I had given her seat to Pam.  Anyways, the meal and movie were both good.

Peggy left early.  I got home a little bit after nine p.m.

WEDNESDAY:  Marlene and I attended BARKERS SENIORS today.  We sat with Karen and Frank Eldridge.  The first couple of hours went kind of slow, there was good live music by 104's ACOUSTIC COUNTRY DUO.

and for the most part members visited with those at their table and snacked.  I saw Sue there (she will be my roommate on the March cruise) and went over to talk to her for a couple of minutes. We were asked to bring either  a breakfast item or soup for the Food Bank.  I think many people did not stick to those guidelines:

Lunch was good: stuffed rigatoni, peas, bread and Jell-o.  We were served the jell-o first, before our meals.  After lunch, there was a meeting, in which new officers were self elected and voted in.  When the meeting was over, I went to the Barker Post Office and mailed my application for renewal of my passport.  I took a nap at home and called my primary doctors office in order to make an appointment, but was unable to.  Her nurse will call me.

In the early evening, I emptied out my old and original jewelry box (I think my roommate in the S. Goodman Street, Rochester apartment,(when I was 19 gave it to me for my birthday) and added that jewelry to my HUGE, standing jewelry box.  I chatted online with Christa for about forty minutes.  I found the 2010 movie SHUTTER ISLAND with Leonardo DiCaprio to watch. I did not like it very much, but I watched all but the last few minutes because I wanted to find out what happened. UGH.   I arranged to meet up with Jan tomorrow at eleven forty five, after my assessment.  Peggy called to tell me that if I reschedule my sleep study, she is willing to go with me.

THURSDAY: In the morning, I messaged Janet Ford to find out if she is able to go to West Seneca tomorrow to visit her sister in a nursing home.  Unfortunately, she is very weak from a bladder infection, so cannot go.  I called Maggie and told her that we would not be going.   I went to the Y for my HEALTH ASSESSMENT (done by Buffalo Rehab) which I signed up for last week.  It went fast.  I passed two out of the three (balance and brain) but did not do so well on the mobility part and it was recommended that I go for further evaluation.  I will show the form to my primary when I see her next Friday.  My assessment ended an hour early so I went to DOLLAR TREE to get some deodorant and got several other items.  Then I returned to the Y to meet up with Jan to walk the track. She was getting ready to leave when I entered, because she thought the time we agreed upon was eleven thirty, but it was eleven forty five. We walked for a total of 35 minutes.  Then I went home. Peggy arrived shortly after that and she worked in the garage for a while.  When she left for the second time to take stuff to the crusher place on East Avenue, I took a nap in the afternoon.  In the evening, I mostly watched TV, but I decided to wash my two throw rugs, one from the bathroom and the other from the kitchen.  I also folded some clean laundry.

FRIDAY:  I spent all morning cleaning, mostly in the bathroom, also vacuuming the kitchen and dining area, also did some organizing and putting stuff away, changed my sheets and did a load of laundry.  Before all that, I put onions and cabbage in the crockpot and thawed out some bacon to add to it later.  I really needed my nap when three pm came around.  But I did not sleep very long.  I called my WellBe nurse, Amanda and told her about the fiasco at the Sleep and Wellness Center this past Monday-Tuesday.  She suggested that I call and speak to the manager.  I did that and he was very understanding and while my insurance company has already been billed, they will set up another sleep study at no charge to me.  I invited Pam to come over and watch MATLOCK.  The time we agreed on was six thirty p.m.  At six forty five p.m. I called her and she had forgotten.  UGH.  This happens way too often.  Peggy called earlier and we will meet at the lawyers office on Monday to sign the paperwork.

Pam came over and we watched the new episode of MATLOCK and played one game of Phase Ten.

It was still early when Pam left so I looked for a movie on the ROKU APP and found A FAMILY OF STRANGERS with Melissa Gilbert and Patty Duke.  It was a made for TV movie in 1993.

SATURDAY November 16th:  I met up with Lori at Freedom Church.  She had information about three craft sales today.  The first one was at a church with a huge parking lot.  There were not any available parking spaces so we went on to the next one at St. Johnsburg Fire Company

Fire Department to benefit     a certain                                    Church.  They had a large basket raffle, but neither Lori or I purchased tickets.  We each had something to eat and made a couple of purchases.  After leaving there we headed to Tonawanda to the Holiday Craft Market at the Salem  United Church of Christ in Tonawanda.   Lori realized that she had left her cane at the fire company. We each made a couple of purchases.  While Lori was using the Ladies Room, I stepped outside so I could get a picture of the church.  I noticed this small museum:  TONAWANDA HISTORY MUSEUM.
It was not open. I would like to go sometime when IT IS open.  Then we headed back towards Lockport. We stopped at the St. Johnsburg Fire Department and picked up Lori's cane.  We stopped at the first church (the one with the full parking lot) but they were closing up the event.  Then I suggested to Lori that we might get something to eat.  She suggested Molinaro's and I agreed.  We stopped and got my car and met up there.  We shared an antipasto salad and chicken fingers and fries.  She took some of both home with her.  I went to Niagara Produce for bananas and milk.
