Week of Sunday November 17th through Saturday the 23rd, 2024
SUNDAY: Church was VERY good. I dropped off the final two OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOXES. After church, Marlene, Glenda, myself, Andrea and her friend Liz met up at LaPorts for lunch. I had the small smoked pork chop dinner, and brought part of the chop home along with one piece of garlic toast. I had a nap in the afternoon, and spent the rest of the day at home. I messaged back and forth with Megan in the evening, regarding politics. We are on totally different wavelengths. She has listened to the liberal fearmongers.
MONDAY:: in the morning, I purchased my trip insurance from AAA. The policy is fifty pages long, so I will not print it out. But I will save it in my email, along with the confirmation/receipt. I then worked on my homework for tomorrow's Life Group. Then I headed over to GYPSY KITCHEN to meet up with Gail and Peggy. First, I stopped at Citizens and got some cash. When I got to GK, it was closed, due to ti being Monday. I called Peggy, and by this time both she and Gail were there, too, parked in front of GK. I suggested Hong Kong Buffet, which is practically next door, but it was closed, too. Peggy suggested we go to the new Quesidilla place on Snyder Drive. I told her I was pretty sure that it was not open yet, but we went to check out and it has not opened yet. So, we went to DENNY'S where we all had one of the breakfast specials along with some maple filled donut holes. Then Peggy and I went to the lawyers office to sign the paperwork regarding the transfer of 17 Phelps to both her and I. Then I called Jan and we agreed to meet behind the library and take a walk. We took a nice walk, mostly on Chestnut Street. Then I went home and took a nap.
For supper, I used the cabbage and onions that I prepared the other day. I added some chicken broth, noodles and carrots and peas and the rest of my smoked pork chop from yesterday. This turned into a really tasty soup. I found the first two hour episode of Leonard da Vinci on PBS. Becky called to tell me that she has a few invitations for Thanksgiving dinner and is not sure what she will do yet.
TUESDAY: I went to the Ladies Life Group this morning, and it was very good. When it was over, I went to Niagara Produce to get milk and bananas and then went home where I had a light lunch. Then I took a nap before Elaine picked me up to go to SOLID ROCK for a spaghetti dinner. We stopped and picked Sarah up. We saw several people there that one or all of us know, so we were there a long time. I watched the second episode of Leonardo da VInci in the evening.
WEDNESDAY: in the morning, I made the cranberry sauce for tomorrow's dinner at the Y and showered and got ready to meet up with Carol Schmelz at Steak, Stone and Sushi. I ordered off the lunch menu, a small steak that I cooked myself on a hot stone, rice and vegetables. This meal was not as good as previous meals I had there. Everything was very salty. Carol and I met a couple of years ago at a travel meeting at the Dale Association. We planned to get together and possibly become travel buddies. However, her son in California became ill with Covid and she went out to help him and he died earlier this year. We had a nice lunch. She is very talkative. Also, she is a very interesting person. She was involved in getting the horse trails started in Allegany State Park and other places in New York State. When we were finished eating, I asked her if she wanted to go over to the YMCA, since she had never been before. She said yes and followed me over. I gave her a personalized tour, and I think she was impressed. We agreed to keep in touch and maybe get together for some travel. The problem is that the places she might want to go are places I have already been and vice versa. She is very interested in taking a train trip, though. I decided to stay and walk the track by myself, but I noticed Becky Wilcox and asked her if she wanted to walk with me. She did, but she got tired after two or three times around. So I continued on without her.
THURSDAY: I met up with Michaelene at the Y for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner. I saved several seats and Dee Mann, Jan, Sarah, Deb and Pam joined us.
The meal was delicious. As I was leaving, I saw Sabba and spoke with her for a couple of minutes. Her mother was not there, Sabba said she was working. Pam and I walked around the track a couple of times before leaving. After that, I called Peggy to find out if it would be a good time for me to buy and bring over the turkey. She said yes, and suggested that I go to TOPS and buy $25.00 worth of groceries and get a turkey for forty eight cents a pound. I did that and then delivered the turkey to Peggy and David. I went home and took a nap. Around five p.m. David and Peggy arrived with David's daughter Katherine and her friend Olivia. They looked at the upstairs apartment since they might need a place to stay if they get evicted, since their landlord is going to sell the place they rent.
Then we went to Manito's for lunch. We both had a fish taco and shared some nacho's. I went to TOPS to get some unsalted butter and an orange so I can make cranberry orange shortbread cookies, a recipe Pam shared on facebook. I spent the rest of the day at home. Leslie called in the evening. She might come to Lockport for a couple of days to attend a birding event in Youngstown and Ontario, Canada. I hope it works out.
