SUNDAY: Church was very good today, and the sanctuary was quite full. After church, Lori, Glenda, Andrea and I went to the OLIVE LEAF for lunch. Andrea had her twin granddaughters (Lucy and Ella with her, so it was kind of an interesting lunch. The twins who are going on age five were well behaved, but talked a lot, and ate very little. Lori asked me if I was going to the concert later on, the LOCK CITY CHORUS at Grace Episcopal Church, and I said I would go with her. Unfortunately that did not work out. We met up at my house after leaving the restaurant but time was running short, so she decided to go to the church right away so that she would be able to get a good parking spot, and I would leave in ten minutes. However, when I got there, all of the parking spots were taken, even along the road. I called Lori to tell her I would not be coming in because of the parking situation and she told me that every seat in the church was taken. Since I was across the road from TOPS, I decided to go in and pick up a few items I needed, specifically laundry detergent and coconut flakes that I need to make a pie for Christmas Day.
MONDAY: I made a second batch of fruit cake first thing this morning. Unfortunately, I took it out of the oven too soon (even though the toothpick came out looking clean). I was able to salvage most of it, though. I called Pam and she agreed to meet me at the Y to walk the track. We walked about a half an hour, maybe a bit more. After that, I went to the Dollar Tree to get a couple of items I wanted, and then to SUPERCUTS to see if I could get a haircut without waiting. I had to wait about ten minutes. I had two inches cut off. Then I went to SUBWAY and used a coupon to get a six inch tuna sub, which I had for lunch when I got home. I spent the rest of the day at home.
TUESDAY: Life Group was small, but it went very well. I passed out Christmas cards to the ladies who were there: Cindi, Marlene, Glenda and Linda. When it was over, Cindi, Glenda and I went to Wendy's for lunch and Peggy joined us.
WEDNESDAY: I went to Rite Aid and picked up a couple of prescriptions and then I picked Jan up at eleven thirty a.m. and we went to the Y and walked for a little over a half an hour on the track. Then we went to TOPS because she said she needed a few things. We agreed to separate and each do our shopping and then meet in the lobby. I purchased a LOT of items, mostly stuff for this coming Saturday night when Peggy and David are coming for supper. When I was done, I headed to the lobby, and gave the two guys ringing the bells for the Salvation Army a few dollars and waited for Jan. After waiting close to fifteen minutes, I went back inside to see if she was in line checking out. She was. When she finished up she said that the guy in front of her had over three hundred dollars worth of groceries and then her credit card did not work so she had to use her debit card. When we got to her place, I carried her groceries up to her apartment. Her place is a disaster, due to the workmen who come and do something and then leave and do not come back for several days or several weeks. I spent the rest of the day at home. I made a batch of chicken and biscuits for supper, using some frozen cooked chicken that was in my freezer. I talked with both Peggy and Becky on the phone. Since Davids daughter Katherine has to work on Christmas Day, they plan to have Christmas dinner at four p.m. Becky decided to have Christmas dinner with her friend Mindy instead of joining us.
THURSDAY In the morning, I made a four bean salad and did a few things around the house. I met up with Gail and Peggy at GYPSY KITCHEN where we had lunch and exchanged gifts. We all had the same sandwich which had pulled pork in it, actually it was a panini. Both Peggy and Gail raved about it. I thought it was good, but not excellent. After that, Peggy and I went to the Y (I took her as a guest) and walked the track. I went home and rested a bit before I started preparing supper for Pam and I. She arrived on time (six p.m.) and we had chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, and four bean salad. Pam brought mini coconut cream pies. After supper, I told Pam that I had just subscribed to ANGEL STUDIOS online streaming (for two dollars a month for six months) and had not had time to check out. I found it on my ROKU TV, and we scrolled through part of it, and found the movie: THE SOUND OF HOPE: The Story of Possum Trot. We decided to watch it, and it was SO good. We both ended up in tears at the end.
FRIDAY: First thing this morning, Marsha Stahler called to tell me how Elaine is doing following her thyroid surgery yesterday. They had to take her entire thyroid, and she has a very sore throat. Most likely Elaine will come home today. I went to Niagara Produce to get the butternut squash for Christmas dinner, and I got a couple of other items. Then I met up with Michaelena at THE QUESIDILLA COMPANY for lunch. We both had a rice bowl. It was pretty good, but not exceptional. I have probably had enough of this place already. I went home and spent the rest of the day at home. I vacuumed the kitchen, dining area and bathroom. I took care of some paperwork necessary to submit my chiropractic bill to UNIVERA.
SATURDAY: First thing in the morning, I prepared baked custard. Peggy picked me up and she and I went to see Carrie at her residence on Hoover Road. I took her Christmas present with me and she opened it. We stopped at HOOVER'S small store to purchase some eggnog. The line of people waiting to get into the store was long and kind of slow. I think they offer a lot more products at Christmas time. Peggy bought a quart of eggnog and a quart of chowder. I took a nap in the afternoon. I prepared supper for David and Peggy: pork chops and onions done in my large cast iron pan, mac and cheese (Bob Evans ready prepared), four bean salad and grilled zucchini (marinated in Italian dressing, rolls and butter and baked custard for desert. I was disappointed in the pork chops, because they were not as tender as the one I prepared a few weeks ago that I purchased at MILLERS BULK FOOD STORE. Next time, I will buy the pork chops at Millers.
I watched the movie SIGHT on Angel Studios. It is excellent! The movie BONHOEFFER is now available on Angel Studios.
