Week of Sunday March 16th through Saturday the 22nd, 2025

SUNDAY:  I was up until three p.m. this morning, (unwinding from my trip) but I forgot about the time change, so it was really four p.m.  I had started a load of laundry and fire up my ROKU TV and found a movie I started to watch on the first flight yesterday THE QUIET GIRL, but all of a sudden around the time the clock said three a.m., I started to crash and went to bed a few minutes later.  I slept four hours and then got up and used the bathroom and found a VDH podcast and listened to the first few minutes before I fell asleep again.  I found this mornings sermon online and put it on.  I got a few more hours sleep and I think I woke up around eleven a.m. but I thought it was ten a.m. because of the SPRING AHEAD clock chance that took place a few days ago.  I spent the day at home, working on unpacking and this blog and uploading pictures to Flickr. Mary Turk brought my mail over in the afternoon.  She is so sweet and I really like her.  I ordered a pizza from LOCK CITY PIZZA about four fifteen.  It was supposed to arrive in forty five minutes but it was about an hour and fifteen minutes before it arrived.  I called Peggy in the evening and she told me that she and David sold her car and purchased a HYUNDAI.  I think it is a SUV.

MONDAY:  I got my income tax documents ready in the morning. I called Elaine and we arranged for her to pick me up tomorrow at five p.m. in order to go to SOLID ROCK for spaghetti.  Then I called Jan to ask her if she wanted to go to the Y and she did, so we agreed to meet there at noon.  I quickly got ready and left early to stop at RiteAid and pick up my prescriptions, and pick up a free drink.  Jan had arrived at the Y a couple of minutes before me.  She was in an upbeat mood which was surprised me.  She had been posting on Facebook about wanting to stay home all the time, so I was concerned that she might be depressed.  We walked for close to forty minutes. Then I went to ALDI to get ingredients to prepare corned beef brisket.  They were OUT of them, but I got all of the other ingredients and other stuff I needed.  I ran into Peggy there.  I had to go to WalMart where I found a brisket.  Then I went home where I spent the rest of the day.  Pam called, and Peggy called and later on in the day Becky called to remind me of spaghetti at Solid Rock tomorrow night. I called Betty to ask if she would be going to Hong Kong Buffet tomorrow and she was very abrupt and said probably not.  I worked on uploading pictures from the cruise to Flickr and made a lot of progress, but I still have a lot of labelling and tagging to do.

TUESDAY:  I went to the Ladies Life Group at Freedom Church.  After that, several of us met up with Peggy and other members of the CONNECT seniors group at the Hong Kong Buffet for lunch.  There were 21 of us in attendance. and the event went well.  I met someone new to me, a woman named Ginny (short for Virginia) who owns and runs a home health aid business called HELP AT YOUR HOME.  The Lockport Travel Club was meeting at the Dale Association at two thirty and I could have gotten there on time, but I decided to go home instead, since I had plans to go to SOLID ROCK for spaghetti. I laid down on the couch using my BRUDER MASK and fell asleep.  I woke up in time to get ready for Elaine to pick me up.  She was a few minutes late.  When we got to the church we sat with Sarah and another woman who I know, but I could not remember name.  She told me but now I have forgotten.  Our spaghetti was very good. As we were leaving, we ran into Jan and her son Michael.

WEDNESDAY:  It was not a very adventurous day!   I had invited David and Peggy over for a corned beef  and cabbage supper.  I put the meat in the crockpot at nine a.m. and then washed the potatoes and carrots, peeled the onions and cut a half a head of cabbage into wedges, so that I could put them in the crockpot at appropriate times.  I cut up strawberries and got them ready for strawberry shortcake.  I made the biscuits for the shortcake part, this time I added a bit of sugar to the mixture.  Also, I made cornbread using a JIFFY MIX.  I took a nice nap starting around 2:20 p.m. and slept until just before my alarm went off at four thirty five.  I got up and added the cabbage to the rest and then went to Niagara Produce for milk and cider.  When I got home, I decided to try to find a recipe for gravy using the broth from the crockpot (I had started it with four cups of boxed beef broth).  I could not find a recipe I liked or for which I had the ingredients so I just went ahead and cooked some butter and flour together, let it sit for a few minutes, added about a cup and a half of the crockpot liquid and simmered it.  It thickened up fairly quickly and was very tasty, so I did not even add salt and pepper to it.  I also grilled some marinated zucchini for supper.  Peggy and David arrived on time and everything was delicious!!!  They told me about their negotiations etc. for selling their Prius and buying their new car: a 2022 KIA SUV, I think it is a Santa Fe.  I told them highlights of my cruise.  David watched a bit of MASH while Peggy and I talked in the dining room.  It was a very nice time!  I went out to see their new car and also helped Peggy carry out the bags of books that we will take to the woman who sells them on Ebay and uses the money to help support the Christies, who are missionaries.  Then I had to attack the kitchen which was a mess!   I loaded the dishwasher.  I have quite a few leftovers, as well as leftover spaghetti from last nights supper at SOLID ROCK.  I worked some on re-organizing my pictures and albums on flickr, and made a bit of progress until my chrome book kind of locked up.  Lori messaged me and asked if I want to go to the library on Saturday for a music of WW2 event.  We agreed to meet there at one thirty p.m.

THURSDAY:   I met up with Pam at the Y and we walked the track for about 35 minutes.  Then we went to Wendy's for lunch.  It was at Wendy's that I realized I did not have my little wallet that I took on the cruise, with cash and important cards in it.  I did have one credit card in my larger wallet, so I used that to buy a FIVE DOLLAR BIG BAG.  What a good deal!!! When I got home, I found my little wallet WHEW!!!!!  I unloaded the box of Christa's stuff and decided what to send and what to donate, and I got the box that I am going to mail all labelled and taped and ready. I started reading THE SILENT TWINS and fell asleep for a bit on the couch.  I filled out the paperwork necessary for my appointment with the sleep specialist on Monday.

FRIDAY:  in the morning, I gathered all of my old fashioned teacups with matching saucers up and boxed them up.  I asked both Megan and Christa if they want them and they both said no. I am waiting for Cassandra to let me know if she wants them.  Peggy called and said she was coming over and bringing her lunch with her.  I quickly prepared my lunch (leftover small salad from Solid Rock) so we could eat together.  I went upstairs into her old apartment to show her what items are up there that belong to me.  I brought down two of the three boxes of fall decorations so I can go through them and see if I want to keep any of them.

Later, I met up with Lori at KALALAMATA's and we both had the fish fry.  I treated her because today is her birthday.  Then we came to my house and we watched the movie BETWEEN BORDERS, and we both liked it.

SATURDAY: Cassandra messaged me and she wants my teacup and saucer collection!  I told her I will label the box with her name.    I got up and showered and washed my hair so that it would have time to dry in order to meet up with Gail and Peggy at eleven thirty at GYPSY KITCHEN.  However, Gail cancelled due to having car problems.  Peggy was going to with with me to the library for the WW2 Music event, but she decided she should go to the Kenan Center for a guided tour of the SECRET WEAPONS OF WW2 exhibit before it ends.  I worked on gathering information about geocaches in ASP.  I decided to check out my winter coats and choose two to keep and I will bag up the others for donation.  At noon I noticed that it was snowing.  I puttered around the apartment in the morning and did a load of laundry.  I met up with Lori at the Library for the Buffalo Jazz Quintet who played WW2 music.  Then we went to LaPorts and both had the turkey dinner.  When I got home, I was totally wiped out and could not do much of anything for the rest of the day.  I finally went to bed at nine p.m. and fell asleep quickly.
