Week of Sunday, August 10th through Saturday, August 16th, 2025 (Recipe for Crazy Crust Pie)

SUNDAY:   I took my trash out early today and it was SO HOT, that I felt that my breath had been sucked out of me.  I messaged Jan about it, since her asthma really bothers her in hot weather and I knew that she might be better off staying home from church.  Church was very good, the Eastmans performed and spoke.  After church, Glenda, Andrea, Marlene and I went to THE OLIVE LEAF for lunch.  I had the turkey dinner, which was very good even though they did not serve my gravy on the side like I requested.  I brought a lot of turkey and also my whole gen salad home.  Andrea told us the story about how she and two of her kids along with other people in a church she attended in Ohio went down to New Orleans to help out after Hurricane Katrina.  When I got home, I watched part of the four part documentary about  it.  HURRICANE KATRINA:  Race Against Time.

Crazy Crust Pie
1 C. flour
1/4 C. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C. butter or margarine, softened
3/4 C. milk
1 egg
1- 21 oz. can fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, blackberry, etc.)
Sugar (or cinnamon-sugar)
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, milk and egg. Beat well. Pour batter into a well greased 9 pie plate. Pour pie filling into center of batter (to 1 of edge). Sprinkle with sugar (if apple or peach is used, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar). Do not stir. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, or until brown and dough is done. Makes 6 servings.

MONDAY:  I called my primary's office regarding the sensations I have in my left leg that resemble the sensations I had in the same leg when I was experiencing the previous blood clot.  While waiting for a return call, Dr. Padhi's office called and said that they see no problem with me getting the gel shots in my knees.  (this was in response to my call to them last Thursday),  While waiting, I decided it would be a good time to go through my Alaska information and I am glad I did because I do not have any tourism information about Skagway.  I went online and filled out a form requesting a Visitors Guide.

TUESDAY:  Life Group and lunch with seven others at MOLINARO'S.  I had the stromboli.  Huge and delicious.  I talked with Dr. Patel on the phone, and he said I will have to follow up with Dre. Padhi about how long I should stay on the Eloquis.

WEDNESDAY:  Andrea arrived about nine twenty a.m. and we set out in my car to go to BARKER SENIORS.  We were one of the first to arrive. Andrea and I both signed up and paid for the picnic which is two weeks from today.  Frank and Karen arrived a few minutes later.  Andrea, Karen and I went to the exercise corner to do the morning exercise.  Marlene arrived a few minutes later.  Because so many members are on the trip to Mackinac Island, it was a small group today.  Our lunch was a chicken patty sandwich which was very good.  I won one of the fifty/fifty drawings and got a little bit over ten dollars.  We stopped at Schwabs before heading back to Lockport.  After I got home, Peggy came over to pick up some of my tourism information for our Alaska trip.  She also went down in the basement and worked a little bit.  She invited me to her house for supper tonight.  After my nap, I went over.  David had prepared a delicious chicken dish with stuffing on the side.  I took over my four bean salad that I made a day or so ago.  We watched an episode of TINY HOUSE before I headed for home.  I was finally able to get hold of someone in the pharmacy at WalGreens and they will have my Eloquis ready for me tomorrow morning.

THURSDAY:  I got up early in order to get to WalGreens when they opened at eight a.m.  I was successful in being the first customer in the pharmacy (there were cars in the drive through line, though).  When I started my car this morning, I saw the warning that I needed to check my tire pressure.  I decided to call David and see if he could take care of it for me BUT I noticed a place right across from WalGreens.  I think the name of it is TIRE CARE.  So I went over there and they took care of it. I dropped a couple of books off at the library and went to Niagara Produce and then spent the rest of the day at home.  I spent a few hours sorting through my necklaces into four spots:  one those I want to keep, some for Megan, for Christa and some for Cassy.  Later on I went through some other jewelry that I think was Martha's and divided that up.  I found what I feel pretty sure is Dad's wedding band from his wedding to my mother in 1948.  I put that in Megans box. After supper (while watching some Alaska cruise videos on YouTube) I decided I would be a good time to start breaking in the rain boots that I bought at Runners a while back.  I even walked outside a bit.  I think they will work well.  BUT, then on one of the Alaska cruise videos, the narrator recommended getting a pair of leather New Balance sneakers.  I am due for a new pair of sneakers soon, so I think I may look for a pair next week.

FRIDAY: Betty called in the morning and we chatted for a bit. I could not reach Jan in order to see if she wanted to go to the Y, so I called Pam and she and I agreed to meet up between noon and 12:15.  I left my house at eleven thirty and got gas and then went to Panera for a drink.  I arrivet the Y around 12:10.  Pam arrived about ten minutes later.  We walked for a half hour, taking a break in the middle.  After the Y, I went to Aldi and then back to Panera for another drink.  I was going to get the lunch special at Lil Caesers, but I was too late!  I picked up Betty's mail before going home.  Peggy was there working in the Amish shed. In the evening, I worked a bit on finding items I will need for the cruise, and I found the movie 5 FLIGHTS UP with Morgan Freeman.

SATURDAY:  I got up a bit early because I wanted to be one of the first pharmacy customers at WalGreens, in order to avoid having to wait a long time.  I was successful and was back home in no time.  I then started preparations for tomorrows trip to Chautauqua with Marlene.  I made egg salad for sandwiches and potato salad to go with it.

I used this recipe:   https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/bread/muffins/bisquick-banana-oat-muffins.html  to make muffins.  I only had one cup of Bisquick so I made half a batch.  If I make them again, I want to add raisins.  They are pretty good!
