Sunday, October 5, 2025 Going to Allegany State with Maggie!!!!

 Maggie picked me up a little before ten a.m. and we left Lockport before ten.  She was having some trouble with her eyes, that she thinks was caused by one of her medications.  We stopped at KROLICK'S for lunch.  I had chicken and ribs, with salt potatoes and a green salad and I ate all except one of the potatoes.  Maggie did not eat much.  We arrived at ASP around two p.m.  We drove directly to the Quaker Registration Office and got ourselves and Maggie's car registered and got our key about 2:50 and into our cottage at three p.m. Maggie went over to the QUAKER STORE and purchased a bundle of wood.   Our cottage  is in a great location, facing the road, but very private.  Maggie took the room with the double bed and I chose one of the twin beds in the other room.  We brought all of our stuff in and got settled in.  I think I was laying down, resting when Leslie arrived.  We helped her get her stuff in and we prepared hot dogs for supper.  Unfortunately, Leslie bought chicken hot dogs which were TERRIBLE.  We were really worn out, and none of the three of us felt like cooking, so only had potato chips with the hot dogs.  

I didn't take any pictures today, which I regret.  I am so happy to be here!!!

 This was what I saw out the window when I got up. The RUBY PRINCESS had stopped and we were in Skagway!  We had breakfast at the Botticelli (I had a soft boiled egg, toast, oatmeal and a banana) and then we returned to our room to get ready for getting off the ship and going to Skagway.  We got tickets for Shuttle #10 and went down to wait to be called.  Things moved along fairly quickly. The shuttle boat was one of the lifeboats, it took us to the mainland.  This is a view of the RUBY PRINCESS from the port.   When we arrived we took a shuttle to the downtown area where we walked around a bit. The downtown area has a lot of interesting shops, etc. but we did not have time to go in many of them.  Here are a few pictures:    We found a geocaches in the library (hooray). Sunday, February 13th, 2022

 Church was very good this morning.  After church, Betty, Jan, Maggie and I met up at Laport's for lunch.  I had the turkey dinner.  It was way too much food to eat in one sitting, so I brought most of it home with me.  Their turkey dinner on Sunday when it is one of their specials is a real good deal: only twelve dollars after the senior discount is used.  Our server automatically gave it to all four of us.  I suggested to Betty, Jan and Maggie that we do this every Sunday after church, going to a different restaurant every Sunday.   The 2022 Ladies Retreat was announced in the bulletin this morning.  Unfortunately for me, it starts the day after I plan to return to Lockport after my week in Allegany State Park with Leslie.  EVEN SO, I plan to go.  I could leave ASP one day early.  I will have to think about this more.  I think I will decide to leave ASP one day early so that I can have one full day and part of anoth...

November 20th, 2020

 I had the oil changed on my car this morning.  I talked with Elaine and Betty on the phone, also.   I decided it would be a good day to stock up on groceries and other items since Thanksgiving is next week and the stores will be full of people.  Also, from watching the news, I think maybe there will be another STAY AT HOME order coming soon due to the rising number of COVID cases in this area.   First I went to Aldi's where I spent close to one hundred dollars on all sorts of items including some frozen vegetables, a piece of salmon, ground beef, canned vegetables, etc.  I took those groceries home so I could get the frozen stuff into the freezer.  I made myself  a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch.  I have so much food, paper items and cleaning items that it was hard to find spots to put everything.  I still have two hundred dollars worth of SNAP benefits available.   I rested, read and watched TV the rest ...
