DAY FOUR of Ohio Trip: April 11, 2019

This was our very last day of this fabulous trip.  It was supposed to be very warm, so I ditched my jeans in favor of capris for the first time in 2019.  We had breakfast in the small dining area of our motel.  Pam met an Amish couple Mabel and _____  Otto and we talked with them a bit. They used to be missionaries.  Mabel grew up in this area and they were here today for a funeral.

Our first stop was at WARTHER'S MUSEUM, where we met David Warther
and took a tour and learned of his amazing path to where he is today.  He learned how to carve from his grandfather, who carved trains, but he chose to carve ships.  He has carved 87 finely detailed ships, and they are on display in the museum.
This tour was so enjoyable and informative.  I purchased a few gift items in the gift shop including a birthday gift for Megan.

Then we headed to HEINI'S CHEESE SHOP.
We sampled many, many, many kinds of cheese, beef sticks, crackers, fudge etc.  So much that we did not need to take a lunch break.

After that we headed to Millersburg to go to the VICTORIAN HOUSE MUSEUM.
I did not think that I would enjoy this as much as I did!  It is run by the Millersburg Historical Society.  We were allowed to take a self guided tour of the basement, first, second and third floors.

After that we headed to Guggisberg Cheese and Millers Bakery.  We bypassed Hershbergers Farm.
We each had a small glass of wine at this Winery. Each sample was a dollar, but it was a couple of ounces, not the size of a usual free sample given at wineries in New York State.
The grapes are grown and processed right there on the property.  The entrance to the winery is in the center of the two story motel.
After going to Guggisberg Cheese and Millers Bakery, where I bought a tart and some day old molasses cookies) we went to the CHALET IN THE VALLEY restaurant for an early supper (around 4:30 p.m.).  We decided to order two items and share.  We chose the cheese fondue

and vegetable spaetzli. Both were really good!  Also, we shared a slice of German Chocolate Cake, which was TO DIE FOR.

It was still early when we finished our meal, so I suggested to Pam that instead of going back to the main highway, we drive some back roads (going through Charm) on our way back to Sugarcreek.  Along the way we passed another Amish school.
We decided to make one last stop before going to our motel, at DUTCH VALLEY to go in their market and get our freebie:  a dishcloth.

Then it was back to our lodging. I thought it was a good time to take a picture.
I think we arrived a little before six p.m.
