Wednesday, December 30th FESTIVAL of LIGHTS at at the Erie County Fairgrounds

 I put all the ingredients for CABBAGE ROLL SOUP in the crockpot before heading out.  I went to TOPS and purchased a ticket for the Festival of Lights.  All tickets have to be pre-purchased with NO sales at the entrance.


at the fairgrounds in Hamburg.   I also picked up a few other items.  Also I went to the DOLLAR TREE and purchased some food items and some other things like dishwashing liquid and trash bags, etc.   I stopped at   Molinaro's  and bought a half dozen Italian Wedding Cake cookies since I had been craving them.  

I had a bowl of the soup for lunch and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!   The cookies were a bit of a disappointment, though.  I think Entenmanns are better, but I could not find any Entenmanns products at TOPS.  I will take four of the cookies to Peg and David's house tomorrow night.  

After a nap, I put the ingredients for the chocolate chip cookie dough together, and set the dough on the front porch where it is cool.  After supper I met up with Peg and David at their house, and David drove us to the Erie County Fairgrounds for the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS.  

It was a drive through event and it was very good!














We went through Tim Hortons drive thru before we got to their house.  I got a cup of hot chocolate.

 I got to the church around ten forty a.m.   I asked Lou to let me in to the office area and he did.  I picked up the boxes of cards, list of names and the printed Christmas carols and then I went down to the basement and looked for the "sugars" for the tea.  I found a few.  Then I located the case of bottles of water, but it was heavy, so I located Lou again and he carried it to the kitchen.   Once I got back to the kitchen, I looked for more "sugars" but couldn't find any, so I went to the COFFEE BAR, and they filled a bowl with different types for me.  I got the silverware ready.  I opened up the packaging that held the tablecloths captive (I have had difficulty opening them in the past) so that they would be ready to go.  David and Jan both came at the end of the service.  Jan located the floral displays for the tables, and we started to put the red tablecloths on the tables.  By this time, we had a lot of other helper...

 SUNDAY:  I decided to go to TOPS before going to church, hoping to get some IRISH SODA BREAD.  They had it (right inside the front door) so I got it, and a couple of other items. Church was excellent, the sermon was about HELL!!!   After church I took my groceries home and put the garbage out and changed into jeans before meeting up with Glenda, Elaine and Betty at LaPorts.  They all had corned beef and cabbage, but I had the turkey dinner.  I brought most of it home.  Pam called and wanted me to go to a musical event at a church, but I really wanted to spend the rest of the day at home.  I had a nap.  I scanned some of Peggy's NURSING HOME MINISTRY at Mt. Week of Sunday September 8th through Saturday September 14, 2024 (new password info)

 SUNDAY:  I got up a bit earlier than usual today because I had things to do to get ready for the COUSINS GATHERING later on here at my house.  Church was very good.  I went to DOLLAR TREE and purchased three bags of ice before going home.  When I got home, I started setting the backyard up with chairs and tables and filled my good cooler with ice and drinks.  Gail arrived first and Peggy and David arrived a few minutes later. Then Mike arrived.  He gave us the sad news that his wife Janie was just diagnosed with breast cancer, after a routine mammogram, a second mammogram and then a biopsy.  He said it was caught very early and Janie seems to be accepting the news pretty well.   David set up his grill in the garage and I brought the meat out.  He seemed disappointed that I only provided FOUR (very large) hot Italian sausage.  I suggested we cut them in half, but he did not seem to want to do that.  He cooked both the hot ...
