Wednesday, January 6, 2021 RETURN TO THE Y !!! PROTESTS AT THE U.S. Capital !!!!!!

 I met with Kevin Kopek at NorthWest Bank for a full hour this morning, straightening out my financial stuff.   Then I dropped off some documents that the lawyer requested from the bank.  Then I decided to go to the Y and renew my membership for the new year.  However, I was not able to.  Procedure has changed and I was given a phone number to call to register and pay.  I was allowed to go into the Y without a current membership so I walked the track for about twenty minutes.  It felt so good to be there.  

After lunch, I worked on getting my pictures from my 2000 trip to Maine uploaded to my flickr account.  Betty dropped off a Christmas gift, a bag of my containers, and a bag of clothing for me to go through.  As I was finishing up organizing my Maine pictures in flickr,  I heard over the radio that protestors had taken over the capital building and that it was on lockdown and that there have been gunshots.  The house chamber has been breached, and some protestors have made it to the senate floor.  I immediately turned on my TV to find out more.  I could not believe my eyes and ears.  UNBELIEVABLE that thugs attacked the capital building after attending a Trump rally to protest the certification: 


Biden spoke out against the riot before Trump did !




I was glued to my recliner in front of tv for a few hours.  What a nightmare.   However, its the same stuff that has gone on in big cities since the middle of 2020.  I guess it just seems worse since it was in our nations capital.  It is terrible that a young woman died, and I think others were injured.   There is a lot of surveillance video that shows many of the perps very clearly and I hope they all spend time behind bars and also have to pay for the damages to the capital building. 

In the evening, I talked with both Peggy, and Myrna on the phone.  I called Leslie after she asked "what did I miss?" on facebook.  She does not have cable TV.   I told her about the rioters invading the Capital building.

 This was what I saw out the window when I got up. The RUBY PRINCESS had stopped and we were in Skagway!  We had breakfast at the Botticelli (I had a soft boiled egg, toast, oatmeal and a banana) and then we returned to our room to get ready for getting off the ship and going to Skagway.  We got tickets for Shuttle #10 and went down to wait to be called.  Things moved along fairly quickly. The shuttle boat was one of the lifeboats, it took us to the mainland.  This is a view of the RUBY PRINCESS from the port.   When we arrived we took a shuttle to the downtown area where we walked around a bit. EAGLE WATCH at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge and more: 2/1/2020

Betty and I went to the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge for the EAGLE WATCH, which was part of the IO Palooza event today.  She picked me up and we drove to the Visitors Center on Casey Road.  There were several things going on in this building, and they were offering pieces of cake. The event was a celebration of the  20th year of Iroquois Observations.   We had cake, walked around a bit and went into the gift shop.  We got directions to the location of the Eagle Watch from a worker and then headed to the Cayuga Overlook. They had scopes set up for visitors to see the eagle and the nest.   I took this picture through the scope. We wanted to hike a bit so we got directions from the ranger how to get to a certain trail, but we could not find the road to it.   We headed to the Tonawanda Indian Reservation so we could have lunch at Jan's Sah-Da-Ko-Nee Restaurant.  We entered the reservation via Bloomingdale Road, the road the re...

Week of Sunday, August 10th through Saturday, August 16th, 2025 (Recipe for Crazy Crust Pie)

 SUNDAY:   I took my trash out early today and it was SO HOT, that I felt that my breath had been sucked out of me.  I messaged Jan about it, since her asthma really bothers her in hot weather and I knew that she might be better off staying home from church.  Church was very good, the Eastmans performed and spoke.  After church, Glenda, Andrea, Marlene and I went to THE OLIVE LEAF for lunch.  I had the turkey dinner, which was very good even though they did not serve my gravy on the side like I requested.  I brought a lot of turkey and also my whole gen salad home.  Andrea told us the story about how she and two of her kids along with other people in a church she attended in Ohio went down to New Orleans to help out after Hurricane Katrina.  When I got home, I watched part of the four part documentary about  it.  HURRICANE KATRINA:  Race Against Time.  Crazy Crust Pie 1 C. flour 1/4 C. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 t...
