Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 OUT AND ABOUT with MARLENE: Enjoying the fall Weather
Marlene called at nine a.m. and said that YES, she felt good and we agreed to meet up at the parking area for the Kanyoo Trail at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. I left a few minutes early in order to go to the headquarters first, hoping to find a brochure listing fall activities. However, headquarters was not open yet and there were no brochures in the kiosk. I backtracked to the "barns" and pulled in right after Marlene. One of the barns was being torn down.
We headed down the trail on the right hand side but this time we decided to turn right onto the cross country ski trail. We had to get off to one side of the trail when this guy and this machine went by.We came to what seemed to be the end of the trail where we found a lookout platform over an area which must be swampy part of the year.and after sitting on a bench for a few minutes we turned around and headed back. We came to a spot where we had to choose which trail to take, and we started down the wrong one, but realized it after a minute or so and found our way back to the right one. Here are a few pictures I took along the way. When we got back to the parking lot, I asked Marlene if she wanted to go somewhere for lunch and she suggested JOANDY'S PLACE on the Seneca Tonawanda Reservation and I agreed.
We had a nice lunch there, we both had burgers and sweet potato fries. This was set up in the side yard of Joandy's
Then we explored the reservation a bit.
The BACK PORCH is kind a primitive gift shop where Marlene made some purchases.
Marlene bought some sponge candy This fellow was selling out of his truck in front of Joandy's.
This small "restaurant" serves various biscuit items on weekends.

I asked Marlene to stop so I could take a picture of this round or maybe six or eight sided barn, I think it is just outside of the reservation. Marlene wanted to show me a historical sign about George Washington and surveying, but when we got to the spot, it appeared that the sign had been taken down.
Marlene drove back to the Kanyoo Trail where I got my car and we said goodbye. It was a great day!!!!
I watched Trapped by the Taliban: One Woman’s Escape from Afghanistan.
