December 16th, 2921 FREEDOM GROUP (Last Lesson) and more

 This morning was the final meeting of Peggy's FREEDOM GROUP.  I tried to arrive early to help her set up for the "brunch" that was planned last week, but I only managed to get there about ten minutes early, so I helped her a bit.  The brunch and lesson went well.  Johnna brought breakfast sandwiches, which were very good.  Patty brought a huge bowl of cut up fruit.  Linda brought PAULA'S DONUTS!!!!!  (but not my favorite plain ones) and there were other items, too.    I had to leave early due to having an appointment with Dr. Danaher for a post Covid check up.  She checked my lungs and said they are 97 percent out of a possible 100 percent.  Most people fall between 95 and 99.   She called in a new script for a different medication to help me sleep, and she said I can stop taking the tiny aspirin daily, due to new findings.  

When I got home, I called US BANK and redeemed points.  I will get a Visa Card for $55 in the mail.  Well, something went wrong even though I talked to a real person.  The email says I will receive a twenty five dollar card.  Oh well, the rest of my rewards points will remain in my total and I can redeem them another time. 

I talked with Peg and David on the phone and we decided what to do for Christmas and New Years.  We will have Christmas dinner at my place.  It will be Peg, David and I, and David's son Scott and his son Luis.  I will also invite my cousin Becky, but she will probably say no since it will be too late in the day for her.  

I tried to reach Connie on the phone but she did not answer.  I am concerned about how she is recovering from the negative reaction to her Covid booster.  

I watched episode one of BLEAK HOUSE on PBS.  I read BLEAK HOUSE when I did an independent study with Empire State College way back in l984 or 85.  I think the title of the course was CHARLES DICKENS but I don't really recall reading any of his other books at that time.  I am not sure I will continue to watch it, it is kind of well, bleak..............

 I got to the church around ten forty a.m.   I asked Lou to let me in to the office area and he did.  I picked up the boxes of cards, list of names and the printed Christmas carols and then I went down to the basement and looked for the "sugars" for the tea.  I found a few.  Then I located the case of bottles of water, but it was heavy, so I located Lou again and he carried it to the kitchen.   Once I got back to the kitchen, I looked for more "sugars" but couldn't find any, so I went to the COFFEE BAR, and they filled a bowl with different types for me.  I got the silverware ready.  I opened up the packaging that held the tablecloths captive (I have had difficulty opening them in the past) so that they would be ready to go.  David and Jan both came at the end of the service.  Jan located the floral displays for the tables, and we started to put the red tablecloths on the tables.  By this time, we had a lot of other helpers.  They put napkins and plasticware at

Week Starting Sunday February 25th, 2024

 SUNDAY:  I started feeling kind of shaky and week during worship at church this morning.  So, I had to tell Marlene that I needed to go home after church instead of going to North Tonawanda with her.  Our plans had been to go to Joey's Place for lunch and then to the Riviera Theatre for the free organ concert by Camden Church.  I stopped at Mark's and got a slice of pizza to take home for my lunch.  It was not very good; I am sure it was left over from yesterday.  I found an episode of BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES on Hoopla and watched most of one episode until I started dozing off on the couch.  I spent the rest of the day resting at home, but I started working on planning for Thursday mornings FREEDOM GROUP, which I will be facilitating.   MONDAY:  I had my chiropractic appointment and then went to the Y where I walked 15 minutes and then used the recumbent bike for five minutes.  SUNDAY:  I decided to go to TOPS before going to church, hoping to get some IRISH SODA BREAD.  They had it (right inside the front door) so I got it, and a couple of other items. Church was excellent, the sermon was about HELL!!!   After church I took my groceries home and put the garbage out and changed into jeans before meeting up with Glenda, Elaine and Betty at LaPorts.  They all had corned beef and cabbage, but I had the turkey dinner.  I brought most of it home.  Pam called and wanted me to go to a musical event at a church, but I really wanted to spend the rest of the day at home.  I had a nap.  I scanned some of Peggy's NURSING HOME MINISTRY at Mt. View into her flickr account.  I found a movie: I ACCUSED, based on a true story.     MONDAY:  I had my chiropractic appointment this morning.  I did some jobs around the house until it was time to go to the Y for my class.  It went very well.  I stopped at THE DOLLAR TREE to get some cookie mixes.  I spent the rest of the day
