December 30th, 2021 at Home with C.S. Lewis and The Spanish Princess

 I did not sleep well last night, but that is getting to be a regular thing.  In the morning, when checking facebook I saw info. about a movie about C.S. Lewis.   It is available on FB for a price, so I did a search on my ROKU TV.  I found a documentary with a similar title; I am pretty sure it is not the movie advertised on FB.  I turned it on and watched part of it.


I called Peggy and suggested that since she has to work tomorrow, we might do our traditional New Years Eve dinner on a different day, but she thinks tomorrow will be the best, and most likely she will not work a full day.  

I called HOOKS SHOES in Amherst to see if they have any toe cushions because the toes on my left foot are acting up.  I am wearing a makeshift pillow, by turning a right foot cushion over and it is working, but I think I should get an appropriate one.   They have them.  Betty will pick me up  tomorrow morning at ten and we will head south and I will treat her to lunch in exchange for driving. I found three restaurants that are open for lunch tomorrow, some places are closed due to it being New Years Eve.

I decided to work on taking down some of my Christmas decorations, only leaving the lighted items intact.  I had intended to leave them up until after January 1st, but since I will stay home today (having been out a good portion of yesterday and going out tomorrow) it seems like today is a good day.  

I made good progress with getting Christmas stuff organized better than it has been in the past.  I decided that I should separate out my Christmas glass items and I made room in the cupboard above my refrigerator.   I took several items from that cupboard that I have NEVER used, not since I moved here, some mine and some stuff that belonged to Dad and Martha (I guess).   I may take the items upstairs and put them in the kitchen cupboards or I may donate them to the GOOD WILL.  

After I finished watching the show about C S Lewis, I watched more of THE SPANISH PRINCESS.  According to wikipedia, it is a sequel to the miniseries The White Queen and The White Princess.

 I got to the church around ten forty a.m.   I asked Lou to let me in to the office area and he did.  I picked up the boxes of cards, list of names and the printed Christmas carols and then I went down to the basement and looked for the "sugars" for the tea.  I found a few.  Then I located the case of bottles of water, but it was heavy, so I located Lou again and he carried it to the kitchen.   Once I got back to the kitchen, I looked for more "sugars" but couldn't find any, so I went to the COFFEE BAR, and they filled a bowl with different types for me.  I got the silverware ready.  I opened up the packaging that held the tablecloths captive (I have had difficulty opening them in the past) so that they would be ready to go.  David and Jan both came at the end of the service.  Jan located the floral displays for the tables, and we started to put the red tablecloths on the tables.  By this time, we had a lot of other helpers.  They put napkins and plasticware at

Week Starting Sunday February 25th, 2024

 SUNDAY:  I started feeling kind of shaky and week during worship at church this morning.  So, I had to tell Marlene that I needed to go home after church instead of going to North Tonawanda with her.  Our plans had been to go to Joey's Place for lunch and then to the Riviera Theatre for the free organ concert by Camden Church.  I stopped at Mark's and got a slice of pizza to take home for my lunch.  It was not very good; I am sure it was left over from yesterday.  I found an episode of BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES on Hoopla and watched most of one episode until I started dozing off on the couch.  I spent the rest of the day resting at home, but I started working on planning for Thursday mornings FREEDOM GROUP, which I will be facilitating.   MONDAY:  I had my chiropractic appointment and then went to the Y where I walked 15 minutes and then used the recumbent bike for five minutes. Week of Sunday, March 17th through Saturday, March 23rd, 2023

 SUNDAY:  I decided to go to TOPS before going to church, hoping to get some IRISH SODA BREAD.  They had it (right inside the front door) so I got it, and a couple of other items. Church was excellent, the sermon was about HELL!!!   After church I took my groceries home and put the garbage out and changed into jeans before meeting up with Glenda, Elaine and Betty at LaPorts.  They all had corned beef and cabbage, but I had the turkey dinner.  I brought most of it home.  Pam called and wanted me to go to a musical event at a church, but I really wanted to spend the rest of the day at home.  I had a nap.  I scanned some of Peggy's NURSING HOME MINISTRY at Mt. View into her flickr account.  I found a movie: I ACCUSED, based on a true story.     MONDAY:  I had my chiropractic appointment this morning.  I did some jobs around the house until it was time to go to the Y for my class.  It went very well.  I stopped at THE DOLLAR TREE to get some cookie mixes.  I spent the rest of the day
