Sunday, January 22, 2023 THE GREAT GATSBY and Monday the 23rd (Apple Dutch Baby URL)

SUNDAY:  After church, which was very good,



Glenda and I had lunch at Burger King, we both had the $5.00 meal deal that has been advertised on TV:   Whopper, Jr. 4 chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.  I went home and rested a little while and then got ready to go to the PALACE for the radio play THE GREAT GATSBY.  I met Jan, David and Peggy there.  





     Jay Gatsby is on the right in these two pictures.  






 


David and Peggy sat up on the stage, but they were stuck back in the corner.  You can see David's head in this picture.







Some of the actors performed a bit before the show, as they entered the lobby.

I liked the DOORMAN the best!  He held the door open and welcomed people to the PALACE.

 



MONDAY:   First thing this morning I decided to use the pea soup mix from Millers that Peggy gave me yesterday, so I put it in the crockpot.

 I had my appointment at Great Lakes Imaging this morning to have a second Doppler.  The tech spent a long time and I had the feeling that she was looking for the clots, which she found.  She said I could be taking ELOQUIS for up to six months.  It has already been three months.  After I left there, I really wanted to go home, but decided I better bite the bullet and go to WalMart where I purchased a few items.  I stopped at Wendy's and got a Taco Salad and I had half of it for lunch.

I added a few items to the soup before I took a nap.  The soup turned out really good.  I had a small bowl for supper.   I talked to both Myrna and Elaine on the phone.  I will leave my house at eight thirty a.m. tomorrow to pick her up for her procedure.

 I got to the church around ten forty a.m.   I asked Lou to let me in to the office area and he did.  I picked up the boxes of cards, list of names and the printed Christmas carols and then I went down to the basement and looked for the "sugars" for the tea.  I found a few.  Then I located the case of bottles of water, but it was heavy, so I located Lou again and he carried it to the kitchen.   Once I got back to the kitchen, I looked for more "sugars" but couldn't find any, so I went to the COFFEE BAR, and they filled a bowl with different types for me.  I got the silverware ready.  I opened up the packaging that held the tablecloths captive (I have had difficulty opening them in the past) so that they would be ready to go.  David and Jan both came at the end of the service.  Jan located the floral displays for the tables, and we started to put the red tablecloths on the tables.  By this time, we had a lot of other helpers.  They put napkins and plasticware at

Week Starting Sunday February 25th, 2024

 SUNDAY:  I started feeling kind of shaky and week during worship at church this morning.  So, I had to tell Marlene that I needed to go home after church instead of going to North Tonawanda with her.  Our plans had been to go to Joey's Place for lunch and then to the Riviera Theatre for the free organ concert by Camden Church.  I stopped at Mark's and got a slice of pizza to take home for my lunch.  It was not very good; I am sure it was left over from yesterday.  I found an episode of BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES on Hoopla and watched most of one episode until I started dozing off on the couch.  I spent the rest of the day resting at home, but I started working on planning for Thursday mornings FREEDOM GROUP, which I will be facilitating.   MONDAY:  I had my chiropractic appointment and then went to the Y where I walked 15 minutes and then used the recumbent bike for five minutes.  SUNDAY:  I decided to go to TOPS before going to church, hoping to get some IRISH SODA BREAD.  They had it (right inside the front door) so I got it, and a couple of other items. Church was excellent, the sermon was about HELL!!!   After church I took my groceries home and put the garbage out and changed into jeans before meeting up with Glenda, Elaine and Betty at LaPorts.  They all had corned beef and cabbage, but I had the turkey dinner.  I brought most of it home.  Pam called and wanted me to go to a musical event at a church, but I really wanted to spend the rest of the day at home.  I had a nap.  I scanned some of Peggy's NURSING HOME MINISTRY at Mt. View into her flickr account.  I found a movie: I ACCUSED, based on a true story.     MONDAY:  I had my chiropractic appointment this morning.  I did some jobs around the house until it was time to go to the Y for my class.  It went very well.  I stopped at THE DOLLAR TREE to get some cookie mixes.  I spent the rest of the day
