WEEK OF SUNDAY June 23rd through SATURDAY June 29th, 2024

SUNDAY:  Church was very good this morning and the sanctuary was very full. As I was leaving church, I saw K.C. Carlson standing in the back.  She was there to talk to the group who is going to Israel in the fall. She and I spoke for a couple of minutes.  It was announced that the Seniors Picnic was moved from Widewaters to the north campus.  I think there were about 20 people there, maybe even less.  Someone (I think David) grilled hot dogs and hot sausage.  Some people brought desserts, and a few brought several bags of potato chips.  Betty and Elaine brought potato and macaroni salads which they shared with everyone.  It was a nice, casual event.

MONDAY the 24th:   I went to the Post Office and mailed a birthday package to Tyler, dropped a book off at the library and went to Rite Aid to buy a new nail file before meeting with Jan at the Y.  We walked off and on for close to an hour.  Then I met up with Lori at the Y and I drove us to MILLERS where we each purchased some groceries and a sandwich for lunch.

I saw this on the wall across from the cashiers at MILLER'S.  It must be new. Then We went to Golden Hill State Park and had a picnic lunch.  On the way home, I showed her Camp Kenan.  I dropped her off at the Y.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I worked on the homework for tomorrow's Life Group.

TUESDAY:  I went to LIFE GROUP and then four of us (me, Lori, Glenda and Karen) went to lunch at Molinaro's.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  Michaelene emailed me and told me about her fractured pelvis and now she is laid up for six weeks.  Also, Lois had a small car accident in Buffalo today. YIKES.

WEDNESDAY:  I met up with Pam at the Y and we walked off and on for close to an hour.  I was feeling a tiny bit "punky" before we started walking, but that feeling went away.  I stopped at ALDI before going home to get some canned whipped cream for tonight's desert and I got a couple of other items.  I had a nice nap in the afternoon and got up in time to prepare supper for Lori and I.  We had turkey soup (from my freezer), and hot dogs that Peggy gave me that were left over from this past Sunday's senior gathering.  I made an interesting desert.  I made a small batch of black cherry Jello, which I cut into small squares and served it with fresh raspberries and non-dairy whipped cream.  It was very good.  We played several rounds of UNO.  We made plans to go to Kenmore for a free movie on Friday evening.  I called Marlene and she will accompany us.

THURSDAY:  I went to my dermatologist appointment this morning.  Unfortunately, a spot was found on my back that appeared suspicious and a biopsy was done. After that, I met up with Jan at the Y and we walked for a half hour, in two shifts.  She signed up for the Senior Social on July 18th.  I stopped and got a foot long sub for my lunch and took it home.  Just as I was getting ready to eat, Peggy arrived with a couple of items for me.  I read her Christa's most recent rant in FB message.  She is so delusional, obviously she is drinking the Kool-Aid and saturating in it.  I talked to Marlene on the phone a couple of times regarding our September trip to Canada.  We will meet up after church on Sunday and take our final payment checks to Betty Stover.  Lori called and wanted me to go to the car show and live music at Widewaters, but I really did not feel like going.  I puttered around some in the early evening.  I added jewelry to my jewelry cabinet.  I took items off of a shelf on the wall in my bedroom and cleaned most of them up and wiped down the shelf.  I put some clean laundry away.  I finished eating my sub for my supper.  I watched the debate.

FRIDAY:  I met up with Jan at the Y and we walked for a half hour or so.  On the way home, I stopped at Little Caesers and bought a lunch special. Four pieces of deep dish pepperoni pizza and a bottle of sodapop.  I took a short nap in the afternoon.  I met up with Lori and Marlene at FREEDOM CHURCH and Lori drove us to KNOX EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Kenmore for this event:

Based on a true story. Growing up impoverished in smalltown Texas, young Rickey Hill shows an extraordinary ability for
hitting a baseball, despite being burdened by leg braces from a degenerative spinal disease. His stern, pastor father (DENNIS QUAID) discourages Rickey from playing baseball to protect him from injury, and to have him follow in his footsteps and become a preacher. As a young man, Rickey (COLIN FORD) becomes a baseball phenomenon. His desire to participate in a try-out for a legendary major league scout divides the family and threatens Rickey’s dream of playing professional baseball.
When we arrived, there was only one vehicle in the parking lot.  We waited a few minutes but nobody else came and then Lori suggested I go in to find out if the event was on or if it had been cancelled.  I went in and found the location of the event (in the basement) and talked to a woman who was preparing popcorn.  She said YES, the event was on no matter how few or how many people came.  She showed me how to use the LIFT that Lori could use to avoid the stairs.  So, I went out to the car and got Lori and Marlene and we went in. Two other people came.  The movie was good.  Popcorn and drinks were provided.  When we left, I suggested that we might stop at an ice cream place I noticed on the way.  Nick Charlap's Ice Cream, Inc

. I treated Lori and Marlene.  The vanilla and chocolate twist cone I had was great!! (I took two Lactaid pills and am hoping for the best).

SATURDAY the 29th
I spent the day at home.  I decided to COOK.  I sliced a cabbage, made a meatloaf which I shaped into large patties, put the meat on top of the cabbage and baked in the oven.  I also made a potato salad and a four bean salad.   In the evening, I watched this movie.  PARKLAND is the hospital that President Kennedy was taken to after he was shot to death in Dallas.
Dee Mann called me in the evening to see if I was going to the Josh Vacanti concert at Lighthouse Christian Camp tomorrow night.  I told her that I do not drive after dark anymore.  She said that she drives after dark but she tires easily since she is not fully over pneumonia, and is on oxygen.  She said she called Cindi and Cindi might decide to go if she is not too worn out from the many things she has going on this weekend.
