SUNDAY July 21st, 2024 through SATURDAY July 27th, 2024

 Sunday:

Church was good.  We were given CRACKER JACKS and there were other snacks available.  After church, I met up with Lori and Lois at STEAK, STONE and SUSHI.  I had the Chicken Teriyaki $19.25 (grilled seasoned tender chicken breast on top of veggies finished with homemade teriyaki sauce). It came with Miso soup and white rice (a huge portion).  Lois ordered the AVOCADO FRIES and shared them.  Lori had the crab salad which she said had a LOT of crab in it and was very good.  I took a good sized portion of my food home.  Before going home, I went to THE DOLLAR TREE mostly to get some dishwashing liquid, but I purchased several other items.

I spent the rest of the day at home.  I briefly tried to figure out how to use the remote control for my XUMO box tv but did not succeed.

In the evening, I found the movie TRACKS on HOOPLA.

A young woman goes on a 1,700-mile trek across the deserts of West Australia with four camels and her faithful dog.  The movie is excellent!!!  I ordered the book from the library.

MONDAY:  I met up with Jan at the Y at ll:30 a.m.  We walked for over a half an hour, in two shifts.  We both registered for the day trip to the Erie County Fair on Augusts 7th.  I stopped at Lil Caesers and got their lunch special and then I went to Northwest Bank and got some cash.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  Pam has changed her mind about going to the French dinner at the church in Williamsville.  I tried to get someone else to take her place:  Peggy, Michaelene, Lois and they all declined.

TUESDAY:  I met with my financial advisor, Scott Ode, at Northwest Bank and signed the document regarding my new annuity, and he signed it and faxed it in.  I went to the library to pick up a book, which I started reading.  I took a nap and did a few things at home before going to Freedom Church to meet up with Lori.  She drove to Williamsville to the Calvary Episcopal Church for their EVENING IN PARIS event.  It was so nice.  The people at our table were so friendly.  The food was great.  There were table games which were fun.  I was able to bring a quart of ratatouille home with me.

We played this game and it involved the candies above.

Chicken L'Orange, Potatoes Pave' and Ratatouille.   Desert was Cherry Clafoutis.  Everything was very good.

WEDNESDAY:  Today was the day that Jan and I were planning to take Janet Ford to West Seneca so she can visit with her sister.  I was starting to get ready when Jan messaged me and said she did not feel all that well, but was still planning on driving.  I called her and told her that I think we need to postpone the trip until she feels better.  She and I tentatively set next Monday.  I called Janet and she said she also does not feel all that well, so she is fine with trying for Monday.

Once I realized that I had extra time since we were not going to W. Seneca, I figured it was a good time to call Spectrum and get some help figuring out how to use my Xuma box.  I made the call and got it figured out within a few minutes.  I still do not know a lot about how to navigate around all that Xumo offers, but I am sure I will figure that out.

I went to the Dale Association and paid for the upcoming Defensive Driving class and then I went to Rite Aid and picked up my prescription and then headed to the Y.  But I had a stray thought that it might be a good time to get a haircut.  I went to GREAT CLIPS and was taken in immediately.  Amy did a very good job and I am pleased with the results.  At the Y, I walked for about 12 minutes and then realized it was time for DRUMS ALIVE class.  I haven't been to it in a while because I have been with Jan and she has a painful wrist.  I decided to go.  I lasted the full 45 minutes.  Before going home, I went to WalMart to get some bananas and to look for some barrettes for Carrie.  I had lunch at home. While I was eating, Cassandra called and we talked for about a half an hour.  I then took a nap.  In the evening, I called Pam just to see how she is doing.  She seems to be doing OK.

THURSDAY the 25th:   I went to CAYUGA DAY HAB for a meeting regarding Carrie's program, goals, etc.  When I was on my way home, I decided it would be a good day to prepare a meal and ask Peggy and David to stay for supper since they would be working on sealing my driveway late in the afternoon.  I prepared meatloaf, sweet potatoes, and biscuits, adding in my refrigerator pickles, and also grilling the remaining zucchini.  They had offered to bring some leftover macaroni and cheese, but forgot to bring it, so while they were working and the meatloaf was baking, I went over to their house and retrieved it.  Supper was really good and I think they appreciated it.  I had also made baked custard which I served for dessert.  While I was cleaning up, I put on Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahus speech to congress yesterday.  Peggy and David decided to return to 17 Phelps to complete the sealing job since they were able to get the supplies they needed at Home Depot.

FRIDAY:  I met up with Jan at the Y and we walked for a half an hour.  I also picked up a book from the library.

I think I took the wind out of Christa's sails because I was able to show her how the International Court works.  She had a totally different idea and was accusing me of not knowing anything about the court.  Well, I didn't and admitted it, but a very small amount of time devoted to looking for information about it and VOILA, I pointed the truth out to her.  Of course, I was very humble when I did.

I rested in the afternoon before meeting up with Peggy at her house.  She drove us to Julie Schultz's house for LADIES GAME NIGHT.  We had a lot of fun.
The first game we played was DUTCH BLITZ.  I watched for a bit before I joined in, in order to learn the game.  I still don't totally understand it, but I can see that it is fast, challenging and fun.

SATURDAY:  I did not sleep well last night.  I met up with Jan at 11:15 at her place and she drove to Gasport for the SALT AND LIGHT FESTIVAL.

  We checked out the vendors

(I paid five dollars for a turquoise necklace) and then while we were looking at the baked goods, I noticed Marsha in line for the chicken dinner, so I joined her and Louise and asked if I could sit with them for the dinner and they agreed.  The dinner was pretty good.  Jan bought herself a chocolate milkshake and joined us.  After eating, we walked around the other exhibits.  I bought three raffle tickets for a small grill with supplies from the table promoting the purchase of some property to build a ranch for recovering addicts.  We sat under the tent for about ten minutes listening to some live music (I think it was tonight's performers rehearsing).

After leaving SOLID ROCK church, we went to SCHWAB'S where I purchased two ears of corn for tonight's supper.

In the evening, I showered and washed my hair, washed and replaced the sheets on my bed and watched the movie AMERICAN PASTORAL.

While chatting with Christa on FB private message, I recommended this movie to her. I think she would like it.  BUT, the word "pastoral" makes her sure that she would not like it.
