WEEK OF Sunday December 29th 2024 through Saturday January 4th, 2025 NEW CORNBREAD RECIPE

SUNDAY the 29th:  I called Jan to ask her if she needed a ride to church, but she has not been sleeping well due to the cast on her arm and had a bad headache so she decided to stay home from church today.  Church was very good this morning.  Pastor Craig and his wife Jenny led the sermon (if you could call it that) together.  The topic was LOVE, from 1st Corinthians 13.  Their presentation was very good.  I picked up a BIBLE IN A YEAR list before leaving church.  Betty and Marlene were not in church this morning.  Glenda wanted to go home to watch "the game", so I didn't have anyone to go out for lunch with.  Which is probably a good thing since I have a LOT of leftovers in my refrigerator.  When I got home, I prepared myself lunch and watched a couple of episodes of 24 and started my homework for when we return to LIFE GROUP on January 7th.   MONDAY the 30th.  Jan was not free to go to the Y to walk the track so I ...

SUNDAY:  I woke up very early this morning, around five a.m. and could not get back to sleep.. Church was very good this morning but I struggled to stay awake. After it was over, Glenda and I went to LaPorts for lunch.  Andrea met us there, after she dropped her twin granddaughters off at home.  I ordered the large turkey dinner, but I think they gave me the small one instead, but I was charged or the large one.  I don't think I will order it again.  I have had it many times and usually bring home enough slices of turkey for one, maybe two turkey  sandwiches.  Not this time.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I slept on the couch for an hour or so, then decided to do a load of laundry.  I looked for movies with Hilary Swank on HULU, it seems they only offer a couple of them.  I watched THE GOOD MOTHER.  I saw an interesting recipe on facebook so am saving it here.  I might make it for Christmas day.   G...

Week of Sunday December 15th through Saturday December 21st, 2024

SUNDAY:  Church was very good today, and the sanctuary was quite full.  After church, Lori, Glenda, Andrea and I went to the OLIVE LEAF for lunch.  Andrea had her twin granddaughters (Lucy and Ella with her, so it was kind of an interesting lunch.  The twins who are going on age five were well behaved, but talked a lot, and ate very little.  Lori asked me if I was going to the concert later on, the LOCK CITY CHORUS at Grace Episcopal Church, and I said I would go with her.  Unfortunately that did not work out.  We met up at my house after leaving the restaurant but time was running short, so she decided to go to the church right away so that she would be able to get a good parking spot, and I would leave in ten minutes.  However, when I got there, all of the parking spots were taken, even along the road.  I called Lori to tell her I would not be coming in because of the parking situation and she told me that every seat in the church was...

SUNDAY:  Church was very good.  Glenda, Marlene, Lori and I had lunch together at APPLEBEEs.  I had the grilled chicken and brought half of it home.  I stopped at Rite Aid before going home but even though there was an automated call telling me that my prescription would be ready to pick up on the 8th, now they say it will be available on the 10th.  UGH.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I called Specturm asking for help with getting my TV with the XUMO box working and I reached a very friendly tech who had me try a LOT of things, but the issue is not resolved.  I set up for a technician to come tomorrow between one and two p.m.  In the evening, I started to measure out the ingredients for fruitcake, which I plan to make in the morning. I finished folding yesterdays laundry and put some away.  I watched a couple more episodes of THE HANDMAIDS TALE MONDAY:  I was woke up by a phone call from Spectrum at a little after eigh...

SUNDAY:  Church was very good this morning.  I slipped out as soon as the sermon was over so that I could help Peggy and a couple of others get ready for the CONNECT Christmas Party.  The party went very well and was a lot of fun.  In the gift exchange, I got a 2025 day planner and a box of candy.   I gave the day planner to Sue Rausch and someone took the candy off of the TRADE TABLE and left me a small box of small Christmas ornaments and I gave those to Lori.  Dee Mann got the handmade Israeli pot I wrapped up and I do not know why she traded it, but Marlene ended up with it.  I had given Peggy a light up church to put in her mini basket raffle but instead she put it in the gift exchange and Terri Ackerman got that and kept it.  Unfortunately, the cook (Mike Kotek), right after completing the food for the party, was taken to the local hospital with a heart issue.  After the party ended, I picked Betty up and took her to the downtown...
