SUNDAY: Church was very good this morning. I slipped out as soon as the sermon was over so that I could help Peggy and a couple of others get ready for the CONNECT Christmas Party. The party went very well and was a lot of fun. In the gift exchange, I got a 2025 day planner and a box of candy.
I gave the day planner to Sue Rausch and someone took the candy off of the TRADE TABLE and left me a small box of small Christmas ornaments and I gave those to Lori.
Dee Mann got the handmade Israeli pot I wrapped up and I do not know why she traded it, but Marlene ended up with it. I had given Peggy a light up church to put in her mini basket raffle but instead she put it in the gift exchange and Terri Ackerman got that and kept it. Unfortunately, the cook (Mike Kotek), right after completing the food for the party, was taken to the local hospital with a heart issue. After the party ended, I picked Betty up and took her to the downtown RiteAid and Niagara Produce so she could pick up a few things she needed. She hopes that her car will be ready to pick up tomorrow. It is at the shop right behind Niagara Produce. I was only home for about fifteen minutes when Leslie arrived. Her group decided to not go into Canada and finished up earlier than planned. I was really tired and laid down shortly after she arrived. When I got up, I decided to try to take advantage of the special offer by HULU. Ninety nine cents a month for a full year. I was successful in signing up and paying for the first month, but when I tried it on my ROKU TV, I found that most apps did not work. Leslie was successful in finding a phone number to call and get a helpful human and I got that straightened out. I told her that she is a superhero! We looked for a movie to watch without success. After watching Law and Order SVU, Leslie went to bed and I went shortly after that.
MONDAY: Leslie and I both got up early and we left at the same time, about quarter to seven a.m. I met up with Jan a couple of minutes after seven a.m. and our driver arrived a few minutes after that. We got to the hospital and checked in a couple of minutes after eight a.m. and Jan learned that her surgery was scheduled for eleven a.m. While waiting in the waiting room, I started and completed reading this book:
Around lunchtime, I left the hospital and walked down Main Street and found PENNY's COFFEE SHOP and I had a BLT.
The surgery was delayed a couple of times and I don't know what time it was finally started, but I think I was finally called back to sit with her in recovery around six fifteen or so. She was discharged at about seven p.m. We had to wait a very long time for our driver to arrive and got back to Lockport at about 8:45 p.m. I heated up some leftovers and watched Season One, Episode One of THE HANDMAIDS TALE and also did a load of laundry. I texted Cindi that I will not make it to Life Group in the morning because I will be helping Jan with getting her prescriptions and paying her bills. I did not realize how tired I was at first, but then it hit me and it was a struggle to finish up the laundry and get ready for bed.

TUESDAY: I got plenty of sleep last night. The phone woke me up at eight thirty, and it was Peggy. She said she was coming over. She brought her breakfast with her and we ate together. I told her I was planning on going out and taking Jan to pick up her prescriptions and she said I should let her and David pick them up and take them to her. I agreed to that plan. I had an appointment to discuss Medicare Advantage Plans with Michelle at the Dale. The meeting went well, and I need to make a decision about whether to stay with UNIVERA or switch to INDEPENDENT HEALTH. I took a nap in the afternoon and when I got up I located my largest tabletop Christmas tree and set it up in the family room.
WEDNESDAY: I called Dr. Kurb's office and asked if I could come in early and was told YES, so I cleaned the car off and got there early. I was the only patient there, and he took me right away. Then I went to WalMart to get some OSTEO-BiFLEX and Vitamin C with Magnesium, but I bought several other food items and two sweaters that I will try on and decide to keep or return. I arrived at the Y a little early, so I waited for Carol to arrive. We walked for a little bit, and then went to DRUMS ALIVE. It was a very small group, Carol, me and one man. After that, we walked around the track twice, and then went to THE QUESIDILLA COMPANY for lunch. We both had the same thing:
THE BEACH BUM, which was very good. When I got home, I put the car in the garage, put stuff away and started a load of laundry. In the evening, I did a little more decorating for Christmas.
WEDNESDAY: I went to the library and picked up two books I had requested, and then to the Post Office where I picked up some boxes for mailing Christmas presents. Then I went to WNY MRI, and had my annual mammogram. It went quickly and well, and the technician checked the pictures over and said everything is fine. Then I picked Jan up and took her to her pharmacy and to her bank on West Avenue where she purchased money orders to pay a couple of her bills. Then I went home and prepared lunch. Now all of the soup, and all of the turkey are gone. I still have stuffing, but I will have to throw it away, and some cranberry sauce is still left. I watched some of THE HANDMAIDS TAIL and then I decided to work on Christmas cards and Christmas packages. I have Connie's package all ready to go. It contains two books (about dogs), a Christmas card and a letter. I was hesitant to send the books, but Hildy said she still enjoys reading. Peggy arrived and loaded her car up with some metal that she plans to turn it at the "crusher" place on West Avenue. After she left, I laid down to rest, and that only lasted a few minutes because I started to wonder where the remote for the garage door opener might be, so I got up to look and I could not find it. I called Peggy and she told me that it was in my car, which was a problem only because my car was in the garage and the door to the shop was locked (according to Peggy). I was able to locate a key for the shop door and went out and retrieved the remote. DISASTER AVOIDED and I called Peg back and gave her the good news.
I did NOT take a nap today. In the evening, I watched TV and pulled out some Christmas decorations, and hopefully will get them organized and set up tomorrow. I chatted on FB with Christa who is still trying to change my mind about Israel. Her mindset is entrenched in cement!!! Which is OK. But it makes her appear to be a "know it all".
Chuck shovelled my sidewalk around seven thirty p.m. God Bless Him. I was thinking that if he didn't shovel it for me, I would do it when I got home after the sleep study, which would be around four thirty a.m.
THE SLEEP STUDY FROM HELL *second one*
I arrived a few minutes before ten p.m. for my make up sleep study (the last one was a horror story of banging, clashing, screeching etc. from the tv in the next room and I left early without sleeping a wink. I was greeted by a very nice young man, he told me his name, but I have forgotten it. He showed me to my room and then left so I could get dressed for the test (shorts and t shirt). He came back and set things up for the test. I could see that he was very nervous, and asked him how long he has been doing this kind of work. He said "two months" and that this was his very first night after his training. It seemed to take a VERY long time to get me hooked up. He brought me an extra blanket at my request. And then he said he was going to leave and get my test started. And finally, I was in bed, with a CPAP machine on. I laid there awake for a while and it did not seem like the machine was working. Maybe it was starting out with very little air pressure, so I waited and it did not seem to increase. I decided to call the attendant. He had told me to pull the thing off of my finger to alert him if I needed him. I did that, and waited, but he did not come. I put the finger thingee back on and tried to get to sleep and after a while I fell asleep. I woke up about four thirty a.m. The air pressure started to get stronger until I could not tolerate it. I took the finger thingee off again and waited. No response. I yelled HELP, and waited a minute and yelled I NEED SOME HELP IN HERE and I yelled HELP louder after a couple of minutes, and I probably yelled four or five times VERY LOUDLY. The air pressure seemed to be getting stronger. I felt like I was in the middle of a hurricane and I could not take it anymore. I sat up and started dismantling all of the things I was hooked up to. What a mess. I got dressed. I don't know what prompted the attendant to come in. He looked shocked. I told him that I had been hollering for help and finally decided to help myself. I told him I was going home. We talked about the situation and he apologized profusely and said he was probably with another patient and that was why he did not hear me hollering. I told him that I was the problem, not him, and that it is obvious that I am not a good candidate for a sleep study. I asked him if there was enough data gathered and he said maybe not since it required six hours and I only slept five hours. I don't think I slept that long, though. Honestly, I think I would do fine under better circumstances. He left the room and I gathered my belongings and headed out. I told him I was leaving and he gave me two sheets of paper to fill out. There was a spot to put the technicians name and I asked him what his name was and he said he would fill that part out. He told me to put the completed forms into a box that was on the wall. I did that. He reached in and was trying to get it out. I said "you told me to put it in there" Apparently, one page was a questionnaire and the other page was a survey and I was only supposed to put ONE of the pages into the box. Anyways, I left and headed for home. I am typing this right away, even before showering. I cannot believe this happened to me. TWO ABORTED SLEEP STUDIES. TWO HORROR STORIES.
FRIDAY: I got a little bit of sleep after my shower and shampoo this morning. I worked on decorating for Christmas off and on all day. I made a small meatloaf for my supper. I located all of the ingredients necessary to make fruitcake. I left at six thirty to go to the Episcopal Church across from the Rochester Road TOPS for the Lockport Chorale concert.
I had arranged to meet up with Marlene. However, she did not arrive until the concert was half over. Fran (I cannot think of her last name) came in early and was looking for a seat so I invited her to sit with me. Cindi arrived a little while into the concert and joined us.
The concert was very good. I purchased ten dollars worth of tickets for the basket raffle but did not win anything. I went to the TOPS store before heading home to get a few items including salt for my driveway. They did not have any cashier stations open, only the self service stations.
SATURDAY: First thing this morning, Connie called and we had a very nice talk. She seems happy at THE PLAINS. I spent the bulk of the morning finishing up (for the most part) Christmas decorating. I also made goulash, which I had for lunch. I wrote a few checks and put them in Christmas cards to Christa and Nikolai, Tyler and Cassandra and Quinn. Then I took a nap. I had been planning on going to the Christmas pageant at the Methodist Church in Pendleton, but it was so cold that I really did not feel like going. I got hold of Lori and told her, and she said she is also not going. I opened my two ARTZA boxes. It is disappointing that they do not really fill each box. Actually, items from both boxes pretty much fit into one box. I watched a few episodes of HANDMAIDS TALE.
