SUNDAY February 9th through SATURDAY February 15th, 2025
SUNDAY: My plow guy had not yet showed up, so I debated whether or not to go to church this morning, but I decided to go anyways, and I got out of the driveway fairly easily. There were not as many people in church as usual. Neither Glenda or Jan came. After church, Marlene, Andrea and I went out to lunch at Denny's. I had the nine dollar burger and fries and it was very good. I stopped at RiteAId on the way home and picked up my Viberzi. Shortly after I got home, Leslie called and we discussed her upcoming trip to Lockport especially with regards to the weather.
MONDAY: I went to NorthWest Bank and renewed my CD. I have earned over four thousand dollars in interest since I purchased the CD a year ago!!!! Then I went to the library and returned two books and read the last couple of issues of the Lockport paper. Then I went to the Y to meet Jan. She was a bit late, so I did five minutes on the recumbent bike. We walked for a half an hour. I went to Walmart to get a few items that I need and then went to Papa Leo's for a sub. I was shocked at the price for an eight inch sub, but it turned out to be pretty good. I spent the rest of the day at home. Becky and Pam both called in the evening and wanted to talk for a while.
TUESDAY: In the morning, I started chicken and dressing in the crockpot. I went to the Tuesday morning Ladies LIFE GROUP this morning. As it ended, they were discussing where to go for lunch, but I did not go because I wanted to go home for a little while before going to the Lockport Travel Club meeting. I stopped at Lil Caesers and purchased the lunch special before going. I did not stay for the whole meeting since I wanted to rest a bit before having Peggy over for supper. I was disappointed with the chicken and stuffing that I prepared in the crockpot and will discard that recipe.
I got something really good out of Life Group today. We talked about not having the need or right to be offended. I remembered that during an online chat with Christa. She seems to have an agenda, something to prove and the way she "talks" to me is not the way a daughter who loves her mother dearly (she says this) should talk to her mother. But I have decided just plain NOT get offended by anything she says or insinuates. It really made our conversation tonight a lot easier. My decision to not be offended by anything she says really works. I have accepted stuff said by other people this way for a really long time, but doing it with my daughters is or was a different story.
WEDNESDAY: The BARKER SENIORS meeting went well. Marlene and I sat with Karen and Frank. Cake was served twice. First Red Velvet Cake which was part of our lunch, and was passed out before we got our lunch. Then we celebrated the birthday of a member named Bonnie. She supplied a HUGE and delicious cake which was served with ice cream after lunch and before the general meeting.
Bonnie Newman provided this beatiful and delicious cake.
This is Sandy, the director of the group.
Betty and several people who are going on the cruise met after the general meeting. Before going home, I went to the Rochester Road TOPS and got a few items that I will need IF Leslie comes for the weekend. I spent the rest of the day at home. I was vacuuming in the bedroom that Leslie would sleep in, when she called to say that she has decided not to come, partly because of the winter weather predicted and partly because she went out birding today and saw one of the birds she was hoping to see during the event in Canada this coming Saturday. I prepared myself a nice supper, chicken and stuffing and squash. I made some gravy out of butter, flour and canned chicken broth. It was really good. I asked a question on a facebook recipe page about the idea of using leftover stuffing to make a soup. I got so many responses that I had to shut down commenting, since I could not keep up.
I had never been in this church before. They offered a very nice breakfast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, cinnamon buns, bagels and cream cheese and more. After the breakfast, on the way back to Lockport, they decided to do a DoorDash and I was a captive passenger! While driving back in the direction we just came from, the weather turned pretty bad, but we continued. David almost slid out of the car when he stepped out to make a delivery. I was happy to get home. I scanned some items and put them into Flickr (mostly Peggy's).Using some of the leftover pasta/beans/spinach/tomato dish I made on Tuesday, I added a can of tomato soup and milk and started a soup in the crockpot. I took a nap and then found the movie BRAVE THE DARK on Angel Studios. It is a true story that took place in Lancaster County, PA.
