Week of Sunday April 27 through Saturday May 3, 2025

SUNDAY:   Church was very good.  After, Lori, Marlene, Louise, Betty, Glenda and I went to LaPorts for lunch.  I had the marinated chicken breast and brought most of the chicken home with me.  Betty was acting as if everything was the same even though she disappeared for several months and did not come to church or spend time with any of us.  But it seemed to be OK, anyways  She has gained a lot of weight and now weighs more than I do (which is a first).  During a FB conversation with Christa, she left abruptly and did not return.  Possibly, she realized that I was right about the judge who was arrested for helping to hide an illegal.  Also, that I was right about the two year old who was deported with her mother (rather than alone).

MONDAY: Vicky called this morning and I agreed to meet her at the Dale Association for tonights LINE DANCING FOR BEGINNERS class.   I had my every six month teeth cleaning and check first thing this morning (well 10:10 am). Then I tried to reach Pam by phone since this is what we agreed on yesterday, but she did not answer.  I went to the library to pick up a book I requested and tried again and this time she answered.  She does not feel well enough to go for a walk.  I read recent local newspapers in the library and then went home, where I had lunch and watched the most recent White House Press Conference.  Since I had a bit of extra time, I decided to try to cash in on my $25 Subway card through WELVIE.  This proved to be fairly easy and the girl I spoke to on the phone agreed to print it out and mail it to me.  Hooray!!!!

A few days ago, I saw an announcement about a LINE DANCING class for beginners at the Dale.  Vicky and I had talked about wishing there was a class for beginners.  I called her and told her about it, and tonight we went to it.  It turns out that it's not really JUST for beginners, but the teacher JIM, uses the first half hour of the class to introduce steps to those who are just starting.  I think there were about nine of us there.  It was quite a workout and as soon as I got home, I took a quick shower.

TUESDAY:   Tuesday morning Bible Study (Life Group) resumed today.  It was kind of a small group.  I could not join the others for lunch after it was over, because of my appointment with Dr. Bax (dermatologist).  I had time to pick up a small sub at Subway and eat about a third of it before I went to his office.  I was disappointed at the very cursory full body check he gave me.  He missed a LOT of body parts.  I made an appointment for six months but I think I will cancel it.  Before going home, I stopped at DOLLAR TREE to buy birthday cards for Megan and for David.  I also picked up several other items.  Then I went to PANERA for a free drink.  I am getting a little tired of the Pomegranet Hibiscus tea so I asked for half of that, and half blueberry lemonade.  When I got home, Peggy was here, working in the garage.  I gave her two boxes of small packets of cheese crackers that she and David like (that I found at Dollar Tree).   A package from Megan arrived.  After my nap, I opened it and it is a beautiful purse.

WEDNESDAY:   I made it in time for my nine thirty a.m. appointment with my eye doctor.  He is located across from my chiropractor so I went there immediately, even though I was an hour early.  Dr. Kurbs took me right in.  I decided then to go to the Y.  I do not like going alone, but I figured it was too late to start making phone calls to find someone to join me.  However, when I got there, I saw Louise and walked together for a while.  She said that she had been planning on meeting Vickie there but Vickie is too sore from line dancing the other night.  I walked a half an hour or a little more and did ten minutes on the recumbent bike and then I went to Panera's and got a drink and then to Lil Caesers where I picked up a lunch special which I took home for lunch.  I had time to wash dishes and make my bed before it was time to go to the Kenan Center for GOLDEN ACRES.  There were about eleven of us there, including Peggy!  Jess (the leader) was great.  She is so friendly and kind.  She led us in drawing a flower.  She keeps things very relaxed.

THURSDAY:  I continued going through paperwork, documents, etc. and now have a bag of stuff that needs to be shredded.  I also continued going through tourism info and there is a lot of stuff in the recyclable bin to go out this coming Sunday night.  I put the stuff for Tyler into a larger box and now there is extra room that I would like to add to it.  Early in the day, I saw information online about a service at CHRIST COMMUNITY  CHURCH for the National Day of Prayer which was today.  I left a message for Marlene and she called back while I was napping and said yes she wanted to go.  So, we met at the church.  Vicky also came and sat with us.  The service was not well attended, but it was very good.  Pastor Wayne Dent was there.

While on facebook, I learned that Vera is in Arkansas visiting Michael and his wife, Christina.  I was able to reach Christina and then able to make arrangements to see Vera next week on Thursday.  I will have to get up early tomorrow since Peggy and I will (hopefully) be going to Harris Hill Nursing home to visit Shirley Hazel.

FRIDAY May 2nd:  In the morning I changed my sheets and did a load occf laundry.  I packed up some winter clothing including coats and boots, hats, gloves, etc. which can be stored in Peggy and David's basement. I went to Outwater Park to check out the flowering trees. A lot of the petals came off during the high winds two days ago.

(I think they are magnolias) and then I met up with Peggy near her hairdressers place. We went to Harris Hill Nursing Home to visit with Shirley Hazel, who went there yesterday for rehab.  She is not in good shape.  I would not have recognized her if I did not know it was her.  After that we decided to find a Middle Eastern restaurant.  We found Nana's Mediterranean Restaurant in Clarence.

We enjoyed our meals very much, we both had the lamb gyro dinner,

and we both took food home.  We stopped at Aldi before going back to Lockport.

SATURDAY May 3rd:   First thing this morning, I started cleaning my car out.  I took a lot of stuff out, and did some rearranging.  Then I took it to the car wash next door to JoJo's and used the vacuums.  I wiped down some surfaces inside.  When I got home, I returned the items I normally  keep in the back of my car, and checked to see what is in the storage area (the one with the donut tire).  The inside looks pretty good now.  I was resting at home after that when Peggy called to say that she got a text saying that the two cookie cakes were ready at WalMart.

I told her I needed to go to the GOOD WILL and drop off a lot of stuff I am donating and also needed an item at WM, so I would go now and get them.  I did that, and also stopped at Citizens Bank and took one hundred dollars out.  When I got home, I had lunch: part of the stuff I brought home from NaNa's yesterday.  Then I took a shower and chose an outfit to wear to David's birthday party tonight.  I laid down on the couch to rest a bit, with a Victor Davis Hanson podcast on YouTube.  I think I dozed off for a little bit.  When I got up, I worked on laundry a bit.  I left a few minutes after three p.m. for BROOKSIDE and arrived a little bit before three thirty.  Peggy and Michelle McKenica and her boyfriend Mark were there helping Peggy set up.  Gail and Bob arrived shortly.  Peggy had it arranged so that Gail, Mike and I were all at the same table.  Nothing on the menu sounded good to me, and I ordered a APPLE CRANBERRY PECAN salad.  It was really huge and really good.  The party went well.  I took a lot of pictures. OOOPS, Luis (David's grandson) said he had something for me, but I left without getting it.  Hopefully, he will give it to Peggy.

                                               David and his brother.
