Week of Sunday August 3rd through Saturday August 9th, 2025

SUNDAY:   Church was good.  Nine of us went to THE BIG DITCH for lunch.  Me, Andrea, Glenda, Lori, Elizabeth, Marlene, Linda Stein, a new friend that I met today named Becky and Louise.  I had the burger and fries and it was pretty good.  I took a nap in the afternoon and later on Lori came over to watch a movie.  We chose one about a football player and his team, during the Jesus Revolution, around 1973, in Birmingham, Alabama.  It was pretty good.

MONDAY:  I was still in bed when Peg called this morning.  She wanted to set a time to come over and load some metal into the back of my car so we could take it to the metal collection place on West Avenue.  We needed to schedule that so that I could go to the Y and she would be available to pick David up from a medical appointment. We worked things out.  Peg came over early and I helped her load the back of my car and then we went to the collection site.  A man helped us take the stuff out of my car and throw it on the pile.  Shortly after we got back to my house, I went to the Y to meet Jan (after picking up a drink at Panera's). where we walked for a bit over a half an hour.  I stopped at Subway and got a six inch sub for my lunch and I spent the rest of the day at home.

TUESDAY:   There was a large group at the Ladies Life Group this morning.  Cindi had an early afternoon commitment, so she wanted to finish up at noon, so it was a bit rushed, but it was very good.  A bunch of us went to Wendy's for lunch.  I had a TACO SALAD.  I went home and took a nap.  Marlene had agreed to meet me at my house at quarter to six p.m., but her stomach was bothering her and she was a few minutes.  I drove us own to Widewaters for the FLOTSAM RIVER CIRCUS.  The place was quite crowded when we arrived.  We set up our chairs and then walked down to Widewaters Grill.  After waiting fifteen minutes or so in line, a line which was barely  moving, I placed our order an then we waited.  When I heard someone say that they had been already waiting a full hour, I suggested to Marlene that I cancel our order and get our money back and she agreed.   Lucky for me, the girl taking orders agreed to that.  We crossed the road to where the boat had already arrived. Unfortunately, we were not close enough to the front to see the performance.  After a few minutes, we decided to leave and go to REIDS for supper.

WEDNESDAY:  I met up with Carrie and Zoe at the Hoover Road house and I rode with them to DENT NEUROLOGICAL for Carrie's six month check of her meds.  It went really well.  Zoe dropped me off at the house before taking Carrie to her day program.  Then I drove to Lockport.  I stopped first at PANERA for a drink.  The girl accidentally brought me aa small drink but she realized her mistake and then got me a large one.  She told me  to take both drinks!  I went to the Y to meet up with Jan.  I tried the LEG PRESS and did five minutes on the recumbant bike and walked a bit until Jan arrived.  We walked about twenty minutes, my knees were bothering me.  Then I went to the library and picked up a book  Then I went to Walgreens to get my prescription.  I waited in line for about twenty minutes behind several cars which moved very slowly.  Then all of a sudden the cars went through quickly.  I found out why when I got up there, because the pharmacy had closed for a half hour.  I had my book NINETEEN MINUTES by Jodi Picoult, so I decided to just wait there outside the drive through window until it opened.  After a few minutes, I realized that other people wanting to pick up prescriptions would think I was waiting to be given my meds, and would wait behind me  So, I kept getting out of my car and getting the drivers attention and yelling "they are closed."  When it was closer to two p.m. when the pharmacy would open, a guy started honking behind me, but I ignored him.  I finally got my prescription for Ibupropen.  I asked the guy who gave it to me if there might be a good time to come when there are not a lot of other people waiting and he said before ten a.m. n the morning and after eight p.m. in the evening.  I went home and had lunch.  I spent quite a bit of time attempting to get free Sunday day passes for the 17th at the Chautauqua Institute for Marlene and I.  First I called and a girl told me to go online.  She gave me the wrong web address, but I found the correct one and attempted to get the tickets for Marlene and myself.  I had to call Marlene and get her exact address and birthday and I put that information in twice, but it was not accepted, so I did a private chat with someone and that worked.  Actually, our passes are for all of 2025, rather than only for the Sunday I requested.  I was worn out after that, and took a nap.  I spent the rest of the day at home.

THURSDAY: I called Scott Ode to tell him what I wish to do with my CD which is maturing in a few days.  He said he will take care of it: rolling over most of the CD into a new CD and depositing the interest in one of my checking accounts.  I called Dr Padwa's office and asked if it will be safe for me to have the GEL SHOT in my knee since I have an old blood clot behind that knee.  Peg was trying to reach me during that call, and she arrived shortly in order to work in the garage or shed.  I showered and got ready for my DEXA scan and when I left, she was getting ready to work on "the deck" which is off of my bedroom.  After my DEXA scan, I went to PANERA and got a drink and then I went to the Y where I walked about twenty two minutes and used the recumbant bike for five minutes.  Before going home, I went to Niagara Produce to get a few items including bananas, two ears of corn, a prepared salad, a loaf of bread and chocolate milk.  I had lunch at home and then worked on the large storage unit in my dining area.  I decided which items to keep, and which to donate.  I took a nap and when I got up, I decided to take care of distributing the money from Mary Anne's last Social Security check  to the heirs.  I called both Kevin and Paula to make sure I have the right address, and I messaged Bianca to confirm her address.  Those checks will go out in the mail tomorrow.  My half is over five hundred dollars, which will be helpful since my car insurance went up a lot.

FRIDAY  My UNIVERA nurse came over in the morning. Peg came over after that and we loaded my car up and took a bunch of metal to LOCK CITY METAL.  After that, I spent the rest of the day at home, puttering around.  I did a little bit of work towards my future move.  I finished reading this book

SATURDAY:  I put pork ribs in the crockpot with some sliced onions.  Then I went to the Farmers Market in the morning and purchased five dollars worth of fruits and vegetables.

Then I came home and cleaned a bit, since Pam will be coming over for supper tonight.  After my nap, I finished getting supper ready.  Pam arrived on time and we had the BBQ ribs, baked potato, fresh vegetable salad and garlic toast.  Then we watched a movie that Pam recommended ALONE, YET NOT ALONE.   "Alone Yet Not Alone" is a true story, or rather, a story based on true events, about two sisters, Barbara and Regina Leininger, who were captured by Delaware Indians during the French and Indian War in 1755. The story, which has been adapted into a novel and a film, focuses on their faith and resilience as they are separated and endure captivity.
