FLIGHT PROBLEMS September 24th, 2025

 The last day of this trip did not go as we expected it to. 

We had breakfast at the buffet, mine was very small.  Then we returned to our room and completed packing.  Just as we were leaving our room, the toilet started to overflow.  I hollered to our steward JOSE, who immediately opened up a panel in the wall, and I don't know what happened after that.  We walked off of the ship with our luggage, and it went smoothly.

Peg ordered an UBER which took us to the airport.  As we were checking in, we found that our first flight was delayed and that delay would make us too late arriving in Dallas to catch the second flight.  We were at the airport for a LONG time while an agent helped us sort things out.  Unfortunately, there was NO WAY to get back to Buffalo today, so the airlines (American) found us hotel rooms, and also gave us a voucher for $12 for food, and they must have paid for the shuttle to the hotel, unless the hotel provides it. 

Anyways we took a shuttle to the Marriot.  I was glad that they gave us TWO rooms.  Peggy and David and I have been stuck in close quarters for eleven days.  My room was really nice. We rested for a couple of hours and then we decided to go out for supper.  The front desk girl took us to a plaza that offered several restaurants.  We chose a place that offered Middle Eastern food,


and it was very good. 

David had purchased fried chicken and macaroni and cheese at a supermarket type store that also was a hardware store.  The name of the store is Mollie Stone's Market and I bought some chocolate.

 And then we decided to walk back to our hotel.  I spent the evening reading, repacking and showering.

 This was what I saw out the window when I got up. The RUBY PRINCESS had stopped and we were in Skagway!  We had breakfast at the Botticelli (I had a soft boiled egg, toast, oatmeal and a banana) and then we returned to our room to get ready for getting off the ship and going to Skagway.  We got tickets for Shuttle #10 and went down to wait to be called.  Things moved along fairly quickly. The shuttle boat was one of the lifeboats, it took us to the mainland.  This is a view of the RUBY PRINCESS from the port.   When we arrived we took a shuttle to the downtown area where we walked around a bit. The downtown area has a lot of interesting shops, etc. but we did not have time to go in many of them.  Here are a few pictures:    We found a geocaches in the library (hooray). November 20th, 2020

 I had the oil changed on my car this morning.  I talked with Elaine and Betty on the phone, also.   I decided it would be a good day to stock up on groceries and other items since Thanksgiving is next week and the stores will be full of people.  Also, from watching the news, I think maybe there will be another STAY AT HOME order coming soon due to the rising number of COVID cases in this area.   First I went to Aldi's where I spent close to one hundred dollars on all sorts of items including some frozen vegetables, a piece of salmon, ground beef, canned vegetables, etc.  I took those groceries home so I could get the frozen stuff into the freezer.  I made myself  a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch.  I have so much food, paper items and cleaning items that it was hard to find spots to put everything.  I still have two hundred dollars worth of SNAP benefits available.   I rested, read and watched TV the rest ...

Tuesday, May 4th

 I got a call from Kevin K. at Northwest Bank at nine a.m. asking if I could come in and sign one more paper regarding my new SYMMETRA account.  I agreed to be at the bank at 9:45.   After that, I went to FREEDOM CHURCH for the Ladies Life Group.   Their were nine of us there and it went well.  Then five of us went out to lunch at THE OLIVE LEAF. During lunch I asked Elaine if we might be able to start up some fun things to do together on Tuesdays after Life Group.  We had started doing that a few years ago, but it never really stuck.  Elaine was very enthused about this idea.   When I got home, there was a call from the estate lawyer asking me to come in to the office and sign some forms regarding the Principal account at Key Bank.  I called and agreed to go in tomorrow morning.
