Thursday October 9th, October 10th, 2025 in Allegany (last full day of this trip)

Earlier in the week, I mentioned that maybe on Thursday we would stay IN THE PARK all day due to having plans to go places and do things the previous three days. Basically, I think we just relaxed in the morning and read our books.  I finished THE CROSS AND THE SWITCHBLADE and then went to the book about JOHN THE BAPTIST.  We had burgers and Maggie's fried potatoes for lunch (she really knows how to fry potatoes)!!

Leslie and I decided to go geocaching after lunch.  Maggie asked if we had planned any time to just do nothing.  I told her that she could take that time for herself now while Leslie and I are gone.  She liked that idea.  Leslie and I looked for three geocaches and found two of them.  We walked a short distance on the THREE  SISTERS Trail to look for the one we could not find because there were so many possible hiding spots.

Also, we checked out the cottages and campsites near Quaker Lake (I think they are called Cain Hollow).  We stopped at the Red House Administration Building and used the Ladies rooms and then we walked up the hill to the remnants of the old abandoned zoo since Leslie had never seen them, and wanted to.

Then we returned to the cottage.  I think Maggie was laying down when we arrived.  After a while, Leslie started supper.  We had agreed to use up leftovers from the previous three days.  She heated up the chicken and mashed the sweet potatoes and cut up vegetables for tossed salad.  Maggie set up the fire and we enjoyed that, including making s'mores.

I noticed that there seemed to be a lot more people in the cottages and cabins than there were yesterday.  probably because of the upcoming long weekend, due to Columbus Day.
