Monday, October 6th, 2025 First FULL DAY IN ALLEGANY

PERFECT FALL WEATHER TODAY.  This was a great day, blue sky and sunshine and I took this picture from the front porch of our cottage.

We packed sandwiches for our lunch and headed to Bradford, PA late morning.  Our main goal was a to go to the Visitors Center and get a map of Pennsylvania.  We had a heck of a time finding it, even though we had an exact address and had been there last year.  I went into the YMCA and got directions and I think they helped.  When we got to the Visitors Center, the worker seemed to be in a real hurry and not all that interested in talking with us. But we got what we needed.  We went to McDonalds on Main Street and there was a picnic table so we ate our lunch outside, and I went in and bought drinks for all of us.  I was not really sure of how to get back into the park the way we came, since once before I ended up driving all the way up the east side of the park to Salamanca and then had to drive all the way down south through the park to get to the Quaker area.   So, I called AAA and was given good directions.  Unfortunately, we missed the turn and ended up on the wrong road.  We stopped at the Marilla Reservoir.  I asked a couple for help and they took the time to look a route up on their phone but they were from another country and english was not their first language.  There was another man nearby and he offered to let us follow him back into Bradford and he would show us where to turn onto the Interstate Parkway.  That worked well and we got back to our cottage around four p.m.  Leslie cleaned her grill and she and Maggie cooked chicken thighs on it  I prepared baked sweet potatoes and marinated zucchini (that Leslie grew in her garden in Auburn).  We had our supper on the picnic table on the front porch of our cottage and it was VERY nice.  We even made S'MORES.  We played a game or two of YAHTZEE before going to bed.  It was a great ALLEGANY DAY.
