SUNDAY, December 7th through Saturday December 13th, 2025

Sunday: Before church, I went to Panera and got a drink and also to the DOLLAR TREE for napkins and tissues. Pastor Craig is in Israel so Jim Hood spoke and he did a good job. Unfortunately, I started a fit of coughing about ten minutes into the sermon and had to go out and sit in the foyer. I was able to watch and hear the rest of the sermon on a tv screen out there. Jim finished the sermon earlier than usual and I went down to the kitchen to help out with starting the SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY. I helped put tablecloths and other items on the tables. It was my job to watch the table with basket raffle items, but it was all set up and very little that I could do. Louise won the two glass candle holders that I gave to Peggy a while back. The rest of the party went well and the meal provided by the Koteks was very good.
In the gift exchange I got a heated mask for dry eye, which I can use. It was James birthday and Cindi had made cupcakes to celebrate:
When I got home, I crashed on the couch and stayed there for a few hours. I called Elaine to confirm that I will pick her up and take her to PT tomorrow afternoon. I called Jan and we agreed to meet at the Y tomorrow at ten thirty a.m. I found the movie SHATTERED GLASS on Pluto TV, it is based on a true story. It was good. Then I found the movie AFFLICTION (Pluto TV has good movies available). It has Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek, which are two of my favorites. I called the Mandarin Retaurant in Niagara Falls, Ontario a few minutes before eleven, expecting to get an answering machine but a man answered. I made reservations for Christmas day at three p.m. Res. number 8192. I texted the info. to Peggy. MONDAY: Becky called this morning to tell me that part of TAKEN AT BIRTH is on TLC. I took this opportunitiy to tell her that neither Peggy or I will be having a Christmas dinner this year. I told her that I was thinking of possibly doing a CHristmas day breakfast and I asked her if she would be interested. She said she does not know, that she has to wait and see what her friend, Mindy, will be doing. I met up with Jan at the Y and we walked the track for about 35 minutes, maybe a bit more. My knees are not bothering me today I think IBUPROPEN helped! Then I went to Wendy's and had a TACO salad while reading a book I picked up at the library earlier. Then I wenet home since I had a full hour before I would have to leave to pick Elaine up. I watched part of AFFLICTION. I picked Elaine up at the agreed upon time and we went to EXCELSIOR on Transit. While she was in PT, I read my book in the waiting room. I dropped her off back at her place and she gave me ten dollars for gas. I was getting ready to protest, but she had read me the riot act over the phone a couple of days ago, so I took it. I prepared myself a real supper tonight. I baked an acorn squash, also baked the two chicken thighs that I got at the market, and had some of the pasta salad that I brought home from the Christmas luncheon at Freedom Church yesterday. I have enough of all three for tomorrows supper, also. Hooray! Andrea was trying to reach me and two other friends by text about going to the drive through Lancaster, NY neighborhood Christmas Light Show. I called her to remind her of THE CASTLE BY CANDLELIGHT at Fort Niagara this coming Saturday that I agreed to go to with her and she had said she would get the tickets. She had not followed through and said she could not find he info a second time. So, I found it, and messaged the links to her. But I guess she decided to NOT go since she set a time for four of us (she, Kelly, Linda and me) to go to the light show. I offered to treat Linda and Andrea to pizza before we go out to pick Kelly up, she will be finishing up her granddaughters birthday party. Tuesday, December 9th After Life Group, I headed to Dr. Kurbs office for my appointment. I stopped and ordered a lunch special at the Mayflower. While I was waiting for them to prepare it, I decided to check at DOLLAR GENERAL to see if they might have jars of marashino cherries. I lucked out because they did. I can never find them at WalMart or TOPS, but they had several jars at Dollar General so I think I have all the ingredients for fruitcake. I had lunch at home and then took a nap. In the evening, Pam called to say that she would not be going to Barker tomorrow. I called Marlene and asked if she would like to go and have Pam's catered meal which was already paid for. She agreed. Wednesday the tenth: I started a load of laundry first thing after I got up. The weather out there was awful. I am glad I put the car in the garage. I had to drive slower than usual to get to the Y, but I got to the spot where we have MOVERS and MAKERS at exactly eight a.m. Most everyone else was late, nd Peggy and Lori did not come. I called Peg after the "moving" part and she said that David was horribly sick in the night and she was up with him, and then she finally got some sleep, but woke up at eight a.m. and it was too late to make it. We did a fun art project, pastels on black paper, but mine got ruined by the rain. Andrea and I finished up the art project a bit early so that we could leave for Barker. We arrived at a good time just before CHRISTMAS MUSIC BINGO started. We had live music during Bingo
It was fun, and we played that until our food arrived. The caterer provided salad, rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy and roast beef and turkey, and desert.
It was all very good. I was able to bring some home, enough for another meal.We left before the gift exchange.
When I got home, I called Peg to see how David is doing. It sounds like he is not quite over it. Then I collapsed on the couch where I stayed for a few hours. I had leftover chicken and squash for supper. I decided to get caught up on SHERIFF COUNTRY in the evening. Also, I private messaged Cass and asked her how her recovery from having her wisdom teeth pulled is going. She showed me this picture.
THURSDAY the 11th: I went to the post office first today regarding the missing package that Leslie sent me. The seller/wrapper put COUNTERFEIT postage on it, so I paid for it, and got a receipt for Leslie. Then I went to Panera and got a drink and then to WNY MRI for my mammogram, and then I went to SUPERCUTS hoping I could get a haircut. I was really lucky because I was taken immediately by Amy, who did a good job. Then I went to HOME DEPOT and purchased salt to melt the ice on my sidewalk and then I dropped a bag of donations off at GOOD WILL and then I picked up a pizza at LiL CAESERS. I had a nap. I wrote out checks and Christmas cards for Meg and Chris, Cassandra and Quinn, Tyler and Christa and Nikolai. Peg called and told me about a documentary she and David watched on the ROKU app on their ROKU TV: THE GREEN PRINCE. It is about the "son of Hamas", who became a spy for Israel. I decided to watch it. FRIDAY the 12th: I slept several hours last night. I stayed in bed way longer than I should. I started inserting checks into Christmas cards for my daughters and grandkids and addressing the cards. Becky called at ten thirty to ask for better directions to WAGNERS, so I found the number and gave more detailed diretions. We all met up at WAGNERS and had a nice lunch. I had the "melt". Becky was really touched by her gifts and the lunch we treated her to. I should have taken a couple of pictures at Wagners and I am sorry that I didn't. However, her son, Scott posted this on FB and I will consider it Becky's Birthday picture.
Then I went to get gas and to NorthWest Bank to cash two checks. In the evening, I drove to Peggys house and then she drove my car and we went to the GHOSTLIGHT THEATRE (also known as the STARRY NIGHT THEATRE) for the play
ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT.
We both loved it Saturday the 13th. In the morning, I made miniature cherry pies using GRANDS biscuits. I am not thrilled with how they turned out. I also got together the ingredients for fruitcake. I laid down for an hour in the early afternoon, and I think I may have drifted off. I was a few minutes late for meeting up with Linda and Andrea at Andrea's place. There was a change of plans and we went to pick Kelly up and then we went to BOCCE CLUB PIZZA in Clarence Center, NY. I had a burrito because it was inexpensive. It was pretty good, but not excellent. Then we headed to Lancaster for Stony Brook Legendary Lights.
We drove through twice. I took a lot of pictures. When we were finishing up, someone mentioned how good hot chocolate would be so I offered to treat everyone to it, if we could find a Tim Hortons. We found one closeby and we went in and ordered and stayed for a bit.
