WEEK of Sunday, January 18th, 2026 through Saturday January 23rd, 2026
SUNDAY: Church was very good. Unfortunately, Glenda slipped on ice in the parking lot and fell. When I got to my seat, she was holding an ice pack on her knee. After church we gathered to pray for her, along with two elders. A couple of the ladies asked about going to lunch but I said I did not think we should since the heavy snow predicted was supposed to start at one p.m. It was not snowing at all when I left church. I decided to get some take out food for lunch. I got a meal at KFC and a drink at Paneras. After lunch I took a nap. I called Linda Porter in the early evening. She is doing well. We prayed together for her sister Elaine, and her alcoholic son Alan, and Melanie (her daughter who will not speak to her). I also called Glenda to see how she is doing. She has sone pain in her knee and her daughter suggested that she use a walker for a few days.

MONDAY: It started to snow during the night and continued into the daytime hours. I decided to stay home and wonder if I will be able to get out tomorrow. I went through bank statements, separating out the ones before 2025 so that I can shred them. I ran the dishwasher and did a few other things around the house, including cleaning the table that my microwave is on and the tray on top of it where I keep pens, pencils, sticky notes, tape, and scrap paper to use for notes, etc. It looks better. Just before noon, I noticed that my trash can had been emptied by MODERN, so I bundled up and went out and brought it back. It was not all that easy. I didn't even take it to its usual spot behind the house, it is sitting at the bottom of my front steps, and I think I will keep it there, at least for now with all this snow. Before my nap, I finished putting my Christmas items away.
I thought I had put them all away, but I kept finding random items that I missed. I had chili over a baked potato for my supper. I watched THE NIAGARA MOVEMENT on PBS. It was very interesting.
The Niagara Movement, founded in 1905 by W.E.B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter, was a civil rights organization that fiercely advocated for immediate equal rights, voting rights, and opportunities for Black Americans, directly opposing Booker T. Washington's accommodationist approach. Meeting near Niagara Falls (in Canada, to avoid segregation), the grRTUESup issued a Declaration of Principles demanding full citizenship, higher education, and an end to discrimination, serving as a crucial precursor to the NAACP, formed in 1909.

TUESDAY THE 20th of January: I left a bit early and got a drink at PANERA before going to FREEDOM for Life Group/Bible Study. It was VERY GOOD, a bit more informal than it usually is. We went to the Hong Kong Buffet for lunch. When I got home, I called Dr. Schler's office regarding the overpayment I made in 2025. Once again, the Office Manager was not available and she did not call me back. I will start calling every day OR stop in, maybe I will do that tomorrow. I renewed my registration on my car online. My copier/printer has not worked for a long time, but I took a chance and tried to print the temporary registration on it, AND IT WORKED, so I decided to try scanning something. I was able to scan a picture, but I don't know how to find it on my laptop. I decided to get some files off of my desktop (saved recipes) and move them to flickr and to the set I have for recipes. This took a while. I missed my nap.

WEDNESDAY the 21st: I hated to get out of bed at six fifteen this morning, but I got up shortly and got ready for the day. I arrived at the Y just about in time to start MOVERS and MAKERS. I did not care much for todays art project. The artist we learned about liked to make art involving cakes and baked goods! After that Peggy and I met up at FREEDOM CHURCH and had a prayer time together, mostly praying for salvation for my kids and grandkids. Then I went to WalGreens to pick up two prescriptions. I must have waited a half an hour in line at the Drive Through. I spent the rest of the day at home. I called the woman who is now Andrea's Medicare agent, and I think I will be going back to UNIVERA. I called Jan in the evening to remind her of the LUNCH and LEARN workshop tomorrow at noon, which she signed up for, but she has a PT appointment. I suggested she sign up for the workshop Saturday morning at FREEDOM and she said she will. I also called Lori and reminded her of the workshop tomorrow at the Y and the workshops on Saturday at FREEDOM.

THURSDAY the 22nd: It is only nine fifteen a.m. and I must say that my day is going great so far. I called UITED HEALTH Care hoping to start an expedited appeal over the phone (regarding their disapproval of filling my prescription for Viberzi). It took a bit of time, maybe only fifteen minutes to find out that it has been approved following Dr. Chubineh's request for an "exception". Hooray!!!! Then I called Dr. Schler's office about the money they owe me because I mistakenly overpaid a bill and found out that a check is in the mail. Then I called Carrie's case manager, Breanna and asked if I could join the meeting by phone instead of driving all the way over to the Cayuga Day Hab for the ten thirty meeting. It is cold and blowing outside with more snow showers expected. And she said that will be fine, she will call me when she gets there. HOORAY again. Now, I have a little bit of time free to do a few things around the house. I went through more old bank statements (Citizens) and did some shredding and start to clean the large waste can that I use to temporarily hold recyclables until I get them out to the bin. I went to Panera and got a drink before going to the Y for LUNCH AND LEARN (the topic was WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY. I was not cazy about the provided lunch. A turkey wrap, chips cookies and water. When it was over, Peg and I went upstairs and walked the track for twenty minutes or so. I returned to Panera and then went to WalMart for a few things.

FRIDAY: I worked on shredding old bank statements in he morning and did a few other small tasks around the house before going to the Y to meet up with an and Peggy for the STABILITY class, but Peggy decided to NOT stay for it since she was worn out from her previous class. Neither Jan or I really like the way Brianna leads the STABILITy class. We walked the track for about twenty minutes. I spent the rest of the day at home, doing laundry, changing sheets, and shredding old bank statements. We are in the middle of a winter snowstorm, and I am concerned that I might not be able to get to FREEDOM for the workshops tomorrow morning. I showered and shampooed in the evening.

SATURDAY: I got up early and got ready to go to FREEDOM CHURCH for this event: upload pic from phone here. I could not get the garage door to close. I got to FREEDOM at the appointed time 9:20, a few people were hanging around the coffee center, but nobody knew what was going. I looked around and could not find anyone in either sanctuary. Eventually, Craig and Jenny went into the large sanctuary and Craig led in worship before we were all sent downstairs to three various spots for the three various topics. I was in Pastor Craigs group where the topic was "WORD STUDIES in the BIBLE". It was excellent. After that I moved to a different location where Jenny taught on "Spend Regular Time in the Bible" which was also very good. Shortly after I got home, Peggy came over and now the garage door worked perfectly. I spent the rest of the day at home. I didn't accomplish anything. I made myself a kind of interesting dinner: three vegetables: carrots, butternut squash and asparagus (all cooked from fresh) and a scrambled egg on the side for protein.
