Little Falls, NY and Canandaigua Road trip IDEAS for Leslie and I for June birthday trip
Herkimer
One of Central New York's most unique restaurants...the Beardslee Castle is a limestone castle built around 1860, where you dine inside thick stone walls in the heart of the Mohawk Valley. Located in Little Falls, here you step into a warm, historic setting filled with soft lighting, stone arches, and quiet elegance. The main dining room feels intimate and refined, serving fresh, well-prepared dishes paired with a strong wine list that includes hard-to-find bottles. Downstairs, Beardslee Castle offers a totally different vibe in the Dungeon bar and grill, where you can enjoy lighter fare, over 100 craft drinks, and even sit in a former jail cell. Throughout the year, Murder Mystery Dinners bring live actors, shared clues, and family-style meals. After eating, you can walk the grounds and gardens, ending the night feeling like you stepped back in time.- murder mystery show $65https://www.beardsleecastle.com/events

A fixture in downtown Herkimer for over 35 years, "Crazy Otto's Empire Diner" was purchased and restored in 2003 by it's current owners, Scott and Kim Tranter. The interior is decorated with movie and railroad memorabilia. The Tranter's have retained a tradition dating from the Crazy Otto days, whenever a train is heard passing they spin a wheel and someone at the counter wins a free meal. The menu (http://www.cnybb.com/CrazyOttos.htm) is extensive, food good and portions plentiful.
