WEEK of March 8th through March 14th, 2026
SUNDAY: Church was very good this morning.
A bunch of us went out to lunch. When I asked where they wanted to go, Carol said "you are the leader of the pack", so I should decide. I suggested APPLEBEEs, so that is where we went. It turned out to be eight of us. Me, Glenda, Carol, Marlene, Andrea, Peggy, Michelle McKenica. Most of us had the $9.99 special either a burger or chicken sandwich with endless drink and endless fries. The restaurant was VERY busy, but our server was very friendly and efficient.
After lunch I decided to go to Niagara Produce for milk and bananas. They did not have the milk I like but I purchased a few items. I spent the rest of the day at home. I finished reading THE GOLDEN CHILD. I skipped taking a nap, I just did not feel all that tired, even though we moved the clocks ahead one hour last night.MONDAY the 9th: First thing, I went over to Peggy's house so David could check the tire pressure in my car since I was getting a message that it was low. Indeed one tire was low and he put a bit of air in it, and then he spent at least a half an hour attempting to find the spot where the tire pressure shows up on the "face" of the info. stuff behind the steering wheel. The directions were vague and unfollowable, but he did find it, and now I know how to do it. Then I went to PANERA and got a drink and then to the Y for walking and the recumbent bike. Peggy was busy doing "BOOMBA". Then I went to WalGreens to get my VIBERZI and I was pleasantly surprised when there was no charge. Then to Niagara Produce to get some milk, but they did not have what I wanted, then to the library to return a book and pick one up. Then home, where I had lunch. I was just finished with lunch when David called and asked if I could come over, so I agreed to be there in a half hour We made some decisions regarding the sale of this house and the addition to theirs. I think things will start to move quickly now. I got home and took a nap.
TUESDAY: March 10th. I went to Life Group and it was VERY good. We decided to go to PANERA for lunch after I told the group that they have a new value menu. However, I think I am the only one who took advantage of that menu. After that, I went with Glenda to SALLY'S to purchase toenail files. I hope they work! I decided to call TOYOTA to see if they could check my tire pressure because the warning symbol came back on They checked it and adjusted the pressure and suggested I drive it a bit to see if it comes back on. I agreed to that. I went home and took a nap. In the evening, Jeannie Binner called. She and I met at the Marlboro this past Saturday, at the group event for women over 55 in WNY (or maybe Niagara County). She seems really nice, and she is looking for people to travel with. She wants to go to California and do things that I have done before, so I am really not interested in doing that.
WEDNESDAY: Andrea called first thing in the morning to tell me that she is having digestive problems and would not be able to go to MOVERS and MAKERS. Before it started, I asked Dr. Nik about when this program would end.. He said there are six more weeks. Lori is also sick, so it was a smaller group today. She messaged me during the MAKERS part to say she was still not doing OK, so she would not be going to Barker Seniors. I would have driven myself but the low tire pressure indicator was on, so I called TOYOTA and they said they would fit me in. They did, but I was there for about forty minutes or so. But it did not cost me anything because of that extra policy I took out when I bought the car. It was too late to go to Barker, since I would have missed lunch, so I decided to go to Aldi and then to the Y. I called Jan and she agreed to meet me at noon at the Y. We walked for about 45 minutes and then went to Wendy's for a light lunch. When I got home, Peggy and David and a realtor were here, but they were finishing up and left shortly after I got home. I could not take a nap since I had Dr. Pepper with my lunch. In the evening I made blueberry pancakes and did bacon in the oven for my supper and found a movie to watch, it was about Michael Landon.
THURSDAY: Andrea and I were planning on going out to either lunch or supper in Niagara Falls today. She was supposed to call me in the morning to let me know if she was feeling up to it. I finally called her at eleven thirty and she said she is still struggling with diarrhea. So, we cancelled. Peggy came over to work upstairs. I cleaned my bathroom and vacuumed the living room and front porch. When Peg came down she asked if I wanted to go to lunch. We decided to try HAWLEY's GROVE on West Avenue. It is a fairly new restaurant, and I have wanted to try it. Before going there, we took a box of stuff over to Mike. He and Janie were out in their driveway and we visited for a bit. I asked Mike how much Irish we have in us and he said he is 43% but his siblings might have a different percentage.
HAWLEY's GROVE was kind of an experience. When we entered through the front door, we found ourselves in a loud and boisterous bar filled with laughter! Peggy told someone nearby that we didn't know if we needed to wait to be shown to a table. The bar tender (Danielle) told us we could sit in the adjacent dining room. She said she was the only one working. We went into the other room, which was a very casual, and strangely decorated room with several tables. Danielle came in and gave us each a menu, which was VERY small. Peggy ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a pasta salad on the side and I ordered a burger and a side of hand cut fries. It was not all that long before Danielle returned with our meals. They were great! Both of our sandwiches were absolutely HUGE! The fries were great as were our sandwiches. Earlier, Peg and I had decided that we probably would not return to Hawleys Grove, but after we started eating we agreed that we might come back. There was one thing that is truly negative. My silverware did not look clean, so I cleaned it off with a wipe out of a package I carry in my purse. I took some pictures of the decor in the dining room. Peg asked me what I thought the theme might be and I said "eclectic"
I particularly liked this lamp.

SATURDAY the 14th: Peg picked me up and we went to visit Carrie at her home in Sanborn. In spite of having a cast on her right arm,
she is doing well, she does not seem at all bothered by it. We stayed about a half an hour and then went to the place in Wrights Corners THE CHECKERED POPPY where Gail and Peggy have a booth in the basement from which they sell items. However, we couldn't get into the basement because it was reserved for a party. The owner talked with them getting a better, but more expensive place upstairs. After leaving there there, we went to MANITO's for lunch. I was able to use the remainder on a gift certificate that I must have won at a basket raffle a few years back. I had the NACHO's and the coconut drink that I really like. Peg worked in the basement for a while before leaving, but Andrew (our nephew) called her and wanted to come over to look at the house, which will be put up for sale soon. He is very interested in buying this house! And it might work out very well. I spent the rest of the day at home, resting and reading. I prepared myself a vegetable plate for supper, which I had with a little bit of egg salad. I showered and washed my hair before watching SHERIFF COUNTRY, which I missed last night because I was watching a stupid movie on YouTube.
