SUNDAY May 31at through SATURDAY June 6th, 2026

SUNDAY:  Church was very good.  Six of us went to APPLEBEE'S for lunch after:  Vicky, me, Louise, Marlene, Glenda and Carol.  After that, I went to PANERA, but didn't get anything since they were all out of my favorite drink.  Then I went to the Dollar Tree to get a few items and I decided to check to see if SUPER CUTS was open. It was, and I had a haircut for ten dollars, part of their FAKE Grand Reopening Special.  It is fake because they never closed and therefore, never re-opened.  Oh well!

MONDAY June 1st.   Peg and I met up at FREEDOM for prayer at 9:45 a.m.  Andrea could not make it.  Then I went home.  I was still sitting on the couch wondering what I should do first when Joan arrived.  She suggested that we go to LaPorts for lunch first, so I agreed  I had the liver and onions and she had a breakfast.  When we got back to my house, she started working on the second flower bed. I worked in the family room, getting things organized.  It is still a mess, but not as bad as it was.  I figure that Megan and I (and maybe Chris) can watch tv out there easier than in the living room, if we wish.  Just more places to sit.  Joan  finished the job  and I paid her twenty dollars, and I gave her the extra bag of mulch.  I spent the rest of the day at home.

TUESDAY:  First thing today, I went to the hospital for my FASTING BLOOD WORK, which went well.  Then I went to BURGER KING and had breakfast: a ham, cheese and egg croissant.  I go to Life Group on time.  There was a large group today and we started studying the book of Joshua.  It is SO interesting. Five of us went to DENNY's for lunch.  Cindi, Lori, me, Glenda and Karen.  I had the senior salmon.  The piece of salmon was huge.  It was also a little bit dry.  When I got home, Peggy was arriving at the same time.  She went out in the garage to work a bit.  I packed up two small boxes for Christa, which Peggy took to her house to store them.  I took a nap.  I used my leftover piece of salmon to make creamed salmon with peas over toast and it was very good.

WEDNESDAY:   This morning, I felt like cooking.  I put ribs in the crockpot and started to think about ideas for sides.  I called Peggy and asked if she and David had plans for supper.  She said that David planned to go to Pekin for poker and food, and she would come.  We agreed on six p.m.  I made a potato salad, put baked beans in my small crockpot, made rice pudding and corn muffins.  By time I was done with all that I was exhausted and getting ready for a nap since I did not sleep all that well last night.  Lori had messaged me about the HEALTH FAIR on Stevens Street.  I told her I did not plan to go since I was tired from cooking and needed a nap.  I started my nap early, around one p.m. and when I got up, it was shortly before four p.m. and everything was ready for supper, so I decided to go to the Health Fair.  I got a whole bag full of free stuff and did a BINGO card for a drawing for a prize.  I ran into Lori there.  When I got home at five p,m. I decided that the corn muffins were not good enough for supper so I googled and found a recipe for BISQUICK APPLESAUCE muffins.  I added dried sweetened cranberries to the mixture and made a dozen muffins that turned out MUCH better than the corn muffins.  Peg arrived early and worked in the basement for a while.  Supper was very good and I bagged some items up for Peggy to take home.  We decided to take a walk, so we went to Outwater Park and walked the loop around the fountain three times.  I got home in time to wash the dishes before LAW AND ORDER SVU came on.

THURSDAY:  I did not sleep well last night.  When I got up, I decided to spend the morning working on things here at home BUT Deb Seymour called and wanted to go to the SENIOR WALK IN THE PARK.  I told her YES, I would go and she should come to my house and I would drive.  She arrived on time and it was a half hour drive to Veterans Park, just outside of Niagara Falls, NY in the Town of Niagara.  It is an absolutely HUGE park, very well maintained.  We found the location of the event.  We went to the registration desk and got our tickets for free lunch and for a drawing, and we got three gifts. a T-Shirt, a bag and a bottle of water.  Then we went to a nearby building where various agencies that offer services to seniors were set.  I got a lot of freebies.  I ran into Sara Benedetti there and we talked for a minute or two.  After we had gone to all of the tables, we went back to the tent and found seats which were in the shade.  The live music was a duo that was very good.  There were a couple of short speakers and then they started "the walk", there were three to choose from.  Deb and I chose the shortest, which was a quarter of a mile.  When we returned to the tent, we turned in our tickets for lunch which was a ham and cheese sandwich and a bag of pretzels.  Then they had the drawing.  Deb won a set of three really nice candles (she gave me one).  After I dropped Deb off at my house so she could get her car, I went to get gas, pick up prescriptions at WalGreens and got a few groceries at Niagara Produce.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I kind of organized the bag of freebies from today and the one from the Health Fair yesterday.  These are the ones from today.

FRIDAY the 5th of June:   First thing this morning, I learned that my former sister in law, Ginny Adams, passed away a few days ago, in Arkansas.  She was a very easy going person who worked very hard all of her life.  She had been sick and suffering for way too long, and I am grateful that she is now at peace.
These children must be two of her GREAT Grandchildren.

I had put a round doily type cloth on my table and then decided to put together a bowl of fruit.  I liked how it looked, so I took a few pictures.

Gail called to wish me a Happy Birthday.  I packed up my glass tops (extra in various colors) that go with my four lamps that were Mary Ann's and there was room for some of the small glass pieces that I am keeping.  Carol Kraft send me this via Facebook private message.

SATURDAY June 6th:  In the morning, Peggy and I went to the Hoover Road residence to visit with Carrie.  There is a new female resident there, named Beth.  Andrea picked me up at one p.m. to go to GOLDEN CORRAL in Niagara Falls (on Military Road).  We had a very nice lunch together.  Chopped salad, a delicious steak, loaded baked potato.  I was offered a free sundae because of my birthday but I didn't take it.  We stopped at Wegmans before going back to Lockort  We looked for a house on Charlotte Street that has an apartment for rent that Andrea is interested in.  We found it and Andrea called the realtor whose name and number were on the sign.  I spent the rest of the day at home.

Christa called in the evening and apologized for forgetting to call me on my birthday yesterday.  We talked for over an hour.  She had not known that her Aunts Doris and Ginny had passed away.
