Week of Sunday July 5th through Saturday July 11th, 2026

 SUNDAY:   I decided yesterday that coming home today (Sunday) instead of Monday like I (kind of) originally planned might be best.  I was running out of clean clothing and also, I was getting that "longing for home" feeling.  I left Leslie's place a little bit after eight a.m. (I think) and got on the thruway and stayed on the thruway until I got to the very last exit (Lockport/Depew).  I had stopped a couple of times to use a rest room and also, I got a medium Dr. Pepper (ugh over four dollars) at one of the thruway plazas, but I do not remember which one.  As I approached Lockport, I decided to make a few stops.  First, I filled up with gas at the "cheaper" place.  But gas was cheaper around Auburn.  I went to Chiavetta's and purchased a half a chicken, and to Panera for a drink, and then to Mark's for a slice of pizza.  When I got home (about 12:20 p.m.) I had the pizza for my lunch.  I found out that my internet was not working, so I had to call Spectrum twice.  The last tech got it up and going immediately.  Then I started a load of laundry.

 This was what I saw out the window when I got up. The RUBY PRINCESS had stopped and we were in Skagway!  We had breakfast at the Botticelli (I had a soft boiled egg, toast, oatmeal and a banana) and then we returned to our room to get ready for getting off the ship and going to Skagway.  We got tickets for Shuttle #10 and went down to wait to be called.  Things moved along fairly quickly. The shuttle boat was one of the lifeboats, it took us to the mainland.  This is a view of the RUBY PRINCESS from the port.   When we arrived we took a shuttle to the downtown area where we walked around a bit. The downtown area has a lot of interesting shops, etc. but we did not have time to go in many of them.  Here are a few pictures:    We found a geocaches in the library (hooray). Week of Sunday, August 10th through Saturday, August 16th, 2025 (Recipe for Crazy Crust Pie)

 SUNDAY:   I took my trash out early today and it was SO HOT, that I felt that my breath had been sucked out of me.  I messaged Jan about it, since her asthma really bothers her in hot weather and I knew that she might be better off staying home from church.  Church was very good, the Eastmans performed and spoke.  After church, Glenda, Andrea, Marlene and I went to THE OLIVE LEAF for lunch.  I had the turkey dinner, which was very good even though they did not serve my gravy on the side like I requested.  I brought a lot of turkey and also my whole gen salad home.  Andrea told us the story about how she and two of her kids along with other people in a church she attended in Ohio went down to New Orleans to help out after Hurricane Katrina.  When I got home, I watched part of the four part documentary about  it.  HURRICANE KATRINA:  Race Against Time.  Crazy Crust Pie 1 C. flour 1/4 C. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 t...

Sunday, February 13th, 2022

 Church was very good this morning.  After church, Betty, Jan, Maggie and I met up at Laport's for lunch.  I had the turkey dinner.  It was way too much food to eat in one sitting, so I brought most of it home with me.  Their turkey dinner on Sunday when it is one of their specials is a real good deal: only twelve dollars after the senior discount is used.  Our server automatically gave it to all four of us.  I suggested to Betty, Jan and Maggie that we do this every Sunday after church, going to a different restaurant every Sunday.   The 2022 Ladies Retreat was announced in the bulletin this morning.  Unfortunately for me, it starts the day after I plan to return to Lockport after my week in Allegany State Park with Leslie.  EVEN SO, I plan to go.  I could leave ASP one day early.  I will have to think about this more.  I think I will decide to leave ASP one day early so that I can have one full day and part of anoth...
