This morning I continued working on looking through discs that have old pictures on them, some are mine and some are Peggy's.  I added some pictures from a past trip to Connecticut (2009) when Peg and I visited my high school friend Jane.  She took us to OLD NEWGATE PRISON, and after we left her house, Peg and I found an abandoned theme park HOLYLAND USA and explored. I  all of a sudden realized that it is gorgeous outside and decided to find someone to take a walk with.  I couldn't reach Mary Watt, but I did reach Janet Ford and we agreed to meet at Day Road Park.  Just before I left the house, the phone rang and it was Leslie.  After I left the house, my neighbor Dick Whalen, wanted to chat.  So I was a few minutes late in meeting up with Janet.   She parked at one end of the long narrow parking lot and I was looking for her at the other end, but we finally found each other and had a nice walk.  I took these two pictures.  This we...

FREEDOM IN THE FIELD Week Three, REFUGE TEMPLE and more

Image
This Sunday was the third week of Freedom in the Field at my church.  It was a bit chilly and I think fewer people.    I had a good parking spot today and could see what was going on.   During the service, this event was announced and we were encouraged to attend.  After church there was a food truck available CHEESY CHICKS. I think I am lactose intolerant and everything on the menu had cheese, so I decided not to buy anything.  I asked Betty if she wanted to go to SUB DELICIOUS on 31 and get a burger for 99 cents and she agreed to meet me there.  As I was leaving, I saw Marlene and I asked her if she wanted to join us.  She had already purchased something from the food truck, but she said she would take it with her and meet us. So, the three of us had lunch on a picnic table outside of SUB DELICIOUS on 31.   Then I went home and rested until it was time to go to REFUGE TEMPLE for a prayer service which was open to all church...

Bread Pudding, Chicken Dinner and Working in the Garage

In the morning I made bread pudding, using this recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/239451/applesauce-bread-pudding/ and I washed and cut up some carrots and put them in my small crockpot with orange juice.  I decided to look for a missing flip flop, which led to moving my bed and cleaning under it, but I did not find it.  However, now there is not a thing under my bed outside of a little bit of dust that I could not reach.  I took out three flat boxes of stuff that I brought here when I moved, and now I need to go through those boxes. Peggy came over about noon and we worked in the garage for a while.   My neighbor, Dick Whalen, wanted to talk about how to deal with some bushes that border between our two properties, and he introduced us to Angela, who does some work for him. Angela is going to trim the bushes alongside my driveway and she took an old cabinet that Peggy and I took out of the garage to put out to the curb.  YAY!!! Peg brought up th...

Friday June 12th, 2020 Millers

Image
I woke up to a very nice (and rather cool) day.  I got rested up from my short trip yesterday, so I wanted to go someplace today.  I came up with the idea to go to MILLER'S (an Amish bulk food store in Medina).  I called Betty and asked her if she would want to meet me there, and we could pick up sandwiches and then have a picnic lunch someplace.  She agreed. Before heading to Millers I delivered the rest of the gift bags for seniors to FREEDOM Church.  Then I ran home to get my camera.  On the way to Millers I drove by the Cooperative Extension and saw that they were having a food giveaway.   I had no idea if it was produce or canned goods or whatever, but I decided to get in line.  The line moved quickly and it turned out to be a box of produce: apples, onions, potatoes, oranges, cabbage, carrots. I bought several items at MILLERS (I treated myself to some meat sticks and a small fruitcake) and ordered a turkey sandwich.  Betty and I de...

I slept very well last night. .   Right after I got up, Roswell called me because they had not been able to reach Mary Anne.  I needed to pass some info. on to her about a prescription they had called in to Rite Aide, which has to do with the scan she will get tomorrow.    When she finally answered her phone, she already had the information.  We talked for a bit.  I also talked to Paula (the friend who provides transportation) and she gave me the sad news that Mary Anne has grown very weak and had to use a wheelchair in Roswell on Tuesday and because she was so weak, chemo was cancelled. Peggy called and told me that Lydia Santiago is in a psych ward in Niagara Falls.  Apparently, she felt like she was going to have a nervous breakdown.  Vicky spoke to her on the phone. While I puttered around, finishing up putting my travel items away, the phone kept ringing.  I also had to make a couple of phone calls. I finished up putting together t...

6/9/20 Meeting up with Leslie in Avon, NY

Image
I met up with Leslie at Crestview Motel in East Avon a little before noon.  We got our rooms (adjoining).  I immediately disinfected the surfaces and knobs, etc. in my room.   This MOM and POP type motel is not at all fancy and is kind of vintage, but it is clean and comfortable and the owners are friendly.   Having adjoining rooms worked out well. We went to Tom Wahls for lunch.  Leslie had printed out a coupon for a free ground steak sandwich, so we used it and each had a burger.  We ate outside at a picnic table in a large shelter.  There is no indoor seating yet, but the bathrooms are open. After lunch we set out GEOCACHING.   Geocaching using two cars (for social distancing purposes) is not all that easy. We got separated a couple of times, but easily connected again.  We looked for several caches but only found TWO. The ones we found were POLE BRIDGE (in the very old JOHNSON CEMETERY) and TWIN FALLS (Mary Anne and I had tri...
