FRIDAY, May 13th. 2022 Happy 80th Birthday Ursula

Image
In the morning, I finished cleaning out my Subaru.  I found my second pair of prescription glasses in th e glove box!  I had pretty much given up on them.  I puttered around the house and showered and washed my hair.  I rested for a bit before going over to church to help set up for Ursula's surprise birthday party.  I was able to take pictures before people arrived.  Cindi did a great job! The party went well.  Ursula's sister, Inge, who lives in Colorado came and surprised Ursula, as well as a couple of other out of state relatives.  Ursula was totally surprised.  She told the story of being a small child in Germany during the war.  Their mother had to work in the fields, leaving five year old Inge to care for one year old Ursula.  Inge came to the USA first, and Ursula later got a six month leave of absence from her job and brought her mother with her to Pendleton.  Shortly before her six months was up, she met her fir...

Before my chiropractic appointment this morning, I drove down to Cold Spring Cemetery in order to see the flowering trees.  I was not disappointed.  Many of them, including the lilacs, are in bloom.  Then I drove to Widewaters to see the flowering trees along the canal.   And then I went to my chiropractic appointment.  This tree is in front of his office. After that appointment, I went to WalMart to get a couple of items.  I also checked out the "camping" aisle and found a campfire grill.  Then I noticed that time was running out, so I left without getting the items I needed and the grill, in order to go to Cusimano's Pizzeria on Robinson Road.   I used a coupon to get a medium pizza and some breadsticks.  Then I took the food to FREEDOM CHURCH and met up with Peggy and Betty for our Perry Stone video meeting.  It went well.  Then I went back to WalMart and purchased the grill, some bug spray and a few food items. ...

TUESDAY, May 10th, 2022 and Wednesday May 11th

First thing I did today was go to the library to pick up a book I requested.  I was surprised to find Johnna working at the second floor desk.  Then I went to Freedom Church for the Ladies Life Group.   Elaine spent a good ten minutes admonishing the group for what happened last Tuesday.   What happened was negative talk about and to Janet Ford who came in and announced that she had been exposed to COVID.  Then she passed out a few small gifts to a few people, those who had been the most effected by what happened.    The rest of the meeting went well.   Elaine did a good job leading.  I announced to the group tentative plans for us to go to the new diner across from Day Road Park next Tuesday after the meeting, and then those who want to, could walk one of the trails in the park.  I encouraged those who want to walk to have sneakers on. Then I went to my gastroenterologist appointment.  After that I went to WalM...

MONDAY MAY 9th, 2022 First MONDAY NIGHT CRUISE and Schedule

Image
I went to the YMCA and walked for about twenty minutes before going to the community room to give blood.  My appointment time was ten thirty and I arrived about ten minutes early.   I was still waiting at 11:05 and had decided to wait until 11:15 and then leave.  However, as soon as I made that decision, a worker connected with me.  The "bloodletting" went well even though the woman who did it seemed to be a trainee.  She got the vein on the very first try. Before going home, I went to Niagara Produce to get bananas and I decided to get a beef on weck from the deli.  I had that for lunch and then I took a nap.  After my nap, I watched a documentary 'The Family I Used to Have" about a 12 year old boy who killed his four year old sister.  What a horrible true story.    I met up with Betty at her place around 5:40 p.m. and we walked down to Ida Fritz Park for the opening night of the Classic Car Cruise Night.   We didn...

Mothers Day 2022 Sunday, May 8th

Image
Church was good this morning.  Every mother (or really, every woman) in church was given a small gift after the service. A very nice coffee cup filled with candy and a couple of tea bags. Peggy and David took me out for brunch at the GROFFS CAFE ON THE GREEN at the Niagara County Golf Course on Davison Road.  It was a breakfast buffet and it was very good. Then I went home and took a nap.   I called Betty at six thirty p.m. and asked her if she wanted to take a short walk.  She laughed because she had been thinking of calling me and asking if I wanted to take a walk.  We met up between her place and mine and headed out to Outwater Park.  Some of the flowering trees are in bloom.  We did a circular route walking through the parking lot at North Park School after spending a few minutes at the overlook. This used to be a fountain when I was a kid.  I think some repair work has been done recently.  Betty said that these new posts will event...

Saturday May 7th

I slept in and then called Betty.  She said she does not want to go to the Eagle Watch because it is too cold and windy out.  I said OK, since I was not all that enthused about going.  I was watching an episode of GOOD SAM when Peggy called to say she was on her way here.  Shortly after she got here, we decided to go to the Saturday market which just moved outside after being inside all winter.  We walked around and she bought some honey.  Then we drove down to Cold Spring Cemetery to see the flowering trees, however, they are not really in full bloom yet.  Peg said she wanted to go to REIDS to get something to eat, and I said OK.  However, when we got there and started to get out of the car, I remembered that I had meatloaf and mac salad at home and I offered to make her a meatloaf sandwich instead.  So we went back to 17 and we had lunch together.  Then she was working in the garage and I was working inside for a bit.  I we...

May 4th, 2022 FATHER STU and More and Thursday May 5th

WED.Jan picked me up at 12:45 and we headed south on 78 to Eastern Hill Mall to go to the DIPSON THEATRE to see this movie We both really liked it.  It is based on a true story. After that we walked the length of the mall to get to Chruski's Bakery, spending some time in the BUFFALO STORE.   Once there, each of us purchased an item from the bakery and Jan bought a bag of pierogies. On the way back to where we were parked outside the DIPSON, I noticed this store, which is something like the Family Service Association.  We each did a brief intake, showing our drivers licenses, and were allowed to "shop".  All of the items in this shop are high quality.  I got two pairs of jeans, a pair of capris, three button down shirts and one light denim jacket, also an item which I think I can use for necklaces or bracelets and a vintage kitchen timer.  They also offer hygiene and paper items.  I was given a bottle of hand soap. On the way back to Lockpor...
