WEEK OF JUNE 1st through JUNE 7th, 2025
SUNDAY June 1st: Church was very good this morning. After it was over, Glenda, Lori, Andrea, Marlene and I went to Applebee's for lunch. I shared the two for $26 with Marlene and brought some of it home. I invited Marlene to come to my place for supper tomorrow night, since I have so many leftovers from dinner with Lori last night. I spent the rest of the day at home, resting and watching videos of PRINCESS cruises.
MONDAY June 2nd: I dropped off some items at the GOOD WILL this morning and then picked up a large iced tea at Panera, and then I met up with an at the Y this morning and we walked the track for a half hour or a bit more. We ran into Louise there and she walked with us for a bit. After that, I went to WalMart and purchased a few items including a canister of NESQUICK in order to make a chocolate pie. I also picked up a small sun using the gift certificate I got from WELBIE. I ate lunch at home and made the pie and then took a nap. When I got up, I called Peggy to find out how today went since David had surgery on his trigger finger. Although the day was not easy because he was not given enough anesthesia, he is doing OK now. I cleaned off some of the bird poop on the ramp before Marlene arrived for supper at a few minutes after six p.m. We had a nice supper together, I served leftovers from Saturday night when Lori came over. We had the pie for desert with some of the homemade whipped cream. The pie recipe does not make enough pie filling, so if I use it again, I will double the amounts in order to make more. Marlene and I sat and talked for about an hour after we finished eating. Marlene is struggling with financial issues and wondering if she can retire. I suggested to her the possibility of stopping giving money to all of her charities and then getting her finances in order before taking on any new charities.
TUESDAY: I went to Life Group and then out to lunch at The FIELDSTONE for lunch. Pam, Glends, Cindi, Betty and Carol and myself were given a nice table in the back room which is so much quieter than the main room. I had the soup and salad bar. I think the quality of both the soups and the salad bar have declined. The soups are not as thick and tasty as they used to be, and the salad bar seemed to be smaller with fewer items that I like on it. Even the hot bacon dressing did not seem as good as it usually has. Maybe it is all my imagination. I stopped at Panera for a drink and then went to Rite Aid where I asked for a record of all immunizations I have had at Rite Aid. All of the Rite Aid stores are closing and I was concerned that if I didn't get this record before the closing, I would not be able to. I have had way more immunizations there than I remembered. I will give the record to my primary doctor. After my nap, I took sheets off of both beds to wash. I put a brand new blanket on the bed that Leslie will sleep in, I did not like the texture of the one that was on that bed. I put some items in my car to take to Good Will tomorrow and I straightened out the front and back seats. I took the postcards out of two albums that my mother collected and threw the empty albums out. She had not done any labelling. Pam called to see what I was up to. I think maybe she would have liked for me to invite her over tonight, but I was in the middle of doing things, so I did not ask. I watched a show on PBS about a couple who escaped slavery via the Underground Railroad. I found the movie SHE CAME FOR ME on Hulu. I guess it was supposed to be a comedy. It was OK.
WEDNESDAY: Dr. Kurbs, Panera, Dollar Tree, home, Paula picked me up, we went to CAFORA'S the Ialian restaurant on transit in Newfane. Eggplant Parm. free fried dough because of my birthday. nap. Lori came over and we watched the GRAPES OF WRATH, very old black and white and played two games of Banana grams.
THURSDAY: I worked on sorting and getting stuff ready for donation, etc. in the morning. I took an early nap. Then I went to PANERA where I got a free drink, a free pastry and a bagel for a dollar. Then I went to the Dollar Tree to get a few items. Then I went to the ALLIANCE CHURCH for the annual basket raffle to benefit the CareNet Pregnancy Center, and chicken dinner. Peggy did the drawing of tickets for the basket raffle.
The new name of the agency was announced, it is HAVEN OF HOPE. I won an insulated bag, and something else that I have to arrange to pick up at the center. I will call in the morning to do that. Cassandra called and left a message while I was gone, so I called her back. We had a nice phone visit. I called Michaelene to confirm that she and I will meet up tomorrow morning at nine forty five for the free shuttle to Niagara Falls, NY.
FRIDAY: I met up with Michaelene at the Erie Canal Discovery Center at 9:45 a.m. this morning. The Discover Niagara shuttle bus arrived shortly and sinde he was early, he had to wait until ten a.m. before leaving. We arrived 45 minutes later and got off in front of the ANCHOR BAR. We walked to the information center and got directions to get to the Rainbow Bridge se we could walk across to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The directions were perfect and it was not long before we were going through CUSTOMS where we got vague directions to Clift on Hill. We passed some really pretty gardens along the way. We walked more than halfway up Clifton Hill and decided to ride on the HUGE ferris wheel even though the cost was $14.75 American money. The ride was fairly long and we good views of the falls. After that we walked across the street to a small restaurant, I think the name of it was Clifton Hill Famil Restaurant. They were expecting a large group of 90 people and could not accommodate us, we we had lunch at the RAINFOREST CAFE. I had a steak sandwich and fries but could not eat it all. After that we headed back towards the bridge, stopping at a couple of shops. Our walk back across the Rainbow Bridge was uneventful except for when we had to pay a dollar and a quarter to go through a turnstile. I had forgotten to take my credit card but luckily Michaelene had her debit card so she paid for both of us. We stopped at the visitors center to use the rest rooms. We were sitting on a bench resting a bit after that when she saw a shutle bus pull up to the ANCHOR BAR. That made us a bit nervous, so we quickly headed to the bus which was ours. We were going to wait on the bus until it was ready to leave, but it was so hot in there that I decided to wait outside. Our ride back to Lockport was uneventful except for the young male passenger who talked a lot about his loss at the casino and various places he has lived in the past. When I got home, I had two messages. One from HAVEN OF HOPE regarding the basket I won and one from Mary saying she got our reservations for three nights in SENECA FALLS, NY, July 18 through 20th. I called Mary back.
SATURDAY the 7th of June: I got pretty good amount of sleep last night and I feel much better than I did last night I finished getting Betty's room ready for her. I did a load of laundry and a load of dishes. I purchased the tickets (online) for the bus tor in White Deer Haven (for the trip Mary and I will be taking ext month. However, Mary is not happy regarding the waiver that each visitor or bus rider needs to sign before the tour. I found the movie WISH YOU WELL on YouTube and started watching it.
